I dont know about that. Once again , I've broken Maxis Wireless broadband restrictions by doing reverse port forwarding. You need another PC on streamyx or any other connection in order to do this. I'll post the complete guide in the front page

AFAIK , its weird. Technically you should be able to access the site but again you might never know Celcom/Streamyx users. I think maxis might be next

Knowing maxis , anytime they could change their mind. So be prepared

Pinging does not work - It still kicks you to UMTS....Although its 'active' (aka it will not redirect you to some crappy Maxis Welcome page which sucks). So you'll need to use some auto 'connector' that does it !

I am just pinging their bandwidthmeter site , that would keep the connection alive. Simple as that

1) If you are lucky , you can get around 40 Kilobytes/sec for 384Kbps and around 60-70 Kilobytes a second for 640Kbps. It depends on how good is your coverage. Thats all

2. Yes , it works well with any wireless routers. Just set the router to automatic configuration (dhcp) that should do the job. You dont have to worry about it

3. Yes pretty much anywhere in Malaysia. If the place does not have 3G , the modem automatically falls back to EDGE/GPRS. In other words you can virtually be online anywhere. Keep in mind that GPRS sucks

Nobody wants a firewalled Internet connection. Firstly , you can do anything with it , you can't even establish a direct connection

Maxis agent loves to trap their customers. I was there and I told them off straight that , the service sucks and all the ports are blocked. So yeah there you go. No choice now , I'm using it as its easier for me to travel from one place to another

I prefer an agent who is being honest and down to earth (Did I say All Agents ?) I mean they are just doing their work and I hope they stop misleading other customers as well. If they dont know , at least just say ' I'll check with my supervisor' , or 'I am not sure about that , let me check it for you'. instead of just saying 'Yes , all ports are unblocked or so'. Thats what it is putting me off. Just stop misleading customers saying that ports are opened , etc. Plus I know they are doing it for their living but at least be clearer on what product that you are actually trying to market and not just luring customers.

I am not comparing the standards of Broadband in Malaysia. I am well aware of the broadband system here in Malaysia. Plus Malaysia is a developing country , so we are actually building a better broadband for our nation. Its our duty to improve our quality of standard . If the Broadband companies do not listen to what the customer has to say , its very hard for them to improve.

Well , the only advantage I see of Maxis Broadband that its portable. Thats all I can say

Anyway , I respect JARING Staffs , they are well trainned and they inform the customers that International LINK IS DOWN first before even asking your details. Pretty good I've to say. Then followed by TM. Maxis on the other hand loves you to put on HOLD and MAKE MONEY WHILE PUTTING YOU ON HOLD. So thats how they work. I found out that its useless to check the maxis webpage and useless to call the customer service. Nothing
