the height of the building i dun think will affect tat much ... as long as it's not too high, else how do those ppl make calls and use 3G over there. by the way, got one fella named prasys staying on 19th(see the first post).
*
Im not staying on the 19th floor. Anyway Finally I managed to do Reverse Port Forward. Now I can host DOTA Games , or what-so-ever. It needs a SSH Server which enables remote port forwarding (so you can do a reverse port forwarding)

If anyone wants to 'test it out'. Let me know. I can run VNC , and bam .........get it connected !

To do SSH Reverse port forwarding , you must have a Shell account. If there is no shell account there is no way

Blinking means bad. You are getting 'skipped'. The modem tries to grab as much as it could. Thats really bad. I mean I dont like when it blinks or so. It must be steady for a constant connection

Your signal is really bad mate. It should be around -70dBm or at least 65dBm. You'll face packet loss , high latency issue and inconsistent speed. Apart from that you'll find its difficult to download or to surf. Am I Right ?

512 kbps..Wow , UMTS only supports up to 384Kbps upload. Maxis caps it to 128Kbps , but I heard that they do uncap during off-peak hours

It seems that maxis is improving after all. Sadly, they still have not enabled the use of all ports. So it makes playing certain games impossible !

iTS IMPOSSIBLE to achieve 3.6Mbps even under Ideal condition. You can't get anywhere near 3Mbps. The most you can get is 2.5-2.7Mbps out of 3.6Mbps (This is of course taking considering of all factors including TCP/IP overheads and stuff like that).

Finally I've managed to get reverse port forwarding to work. Three cheers for me. If you do it correctly , you should able to see my Apache Default Page.

Just have a go. It might be down. Now I can run a server behind Maxis' Lame shitty shared IP.

The maximum you can get is around 600Kbps. But sometimes it can go faster then that due to burst. So you'll be able to get 1Mbps++ during bursts but then it will quickly drop ...

Oh the 768k package is now 3.6Mbps. So there is no limit on what you can get.

You can use a second foil. It shouldn't be a problem. Technically its possible. Again , its all about trial and error method. I'll try to get the right calculations for the parabolic dish !

You set it to use DHCP. Thats all. Just set it as Automatic IP and it will be configured automatically. You just have to plug and play !

I'll need to mess with ZTE..I am going to get Vodaphone firmware

You see the USB Modem is unlcoekd. You get Public IP anyway (just check you should get 121.120.x.x IP..That is unlocked but for ZTE Folks its locked to 192.168.x.x)..So I'll try cracking that first , then we will move on

As usual , it needs time and money. I'll be putting up a 'donation box' to buy some tools and hack this firmware. Trust me , I've hacked Dell's Sigmatel before and now this...So lets do it !

The nearer to zero , the stronger the signal. Yours is weak. If it reaches -85 , you'll suffer disconnection , crappy speed , DNS timeout. Make sure its around -80 or so

Here is mine
HSDPA (3.6Mbps)

RSSI -68 dBm
RSCP -75 dBm
Ec/Io -7 dB

Maxis automatically kicks you to UMTS to conserve their resources. A cell tower can support up to 15 HSDPA users. So if the system detects you are using the Internet , it automatically allocates a HSDPA Slot !

hey bro, take some photo of ur parabolic show to us~thx
hard to do or not?

Added on November 28, 2007, 2:01 pmhow come every time when my zte modem is idle, it will HSDPA -> UTMS , but later when i continue using my modem wont go back to HSDPA?
*
Its normal , whenever it detects nobody is using the Internet , it will hop back to UMTS. It will convert back to HSDPA , when it sees a sudden burst of DATA..aka whenver you try to download something big. If it still fails , that means your HSDPA slot has been occupied
