What do you mean connect software? U mean the driver/mobile connect? For Maxis USB it is preset in the modem that autoruns once it is detected.

Its right there inside the Modem. The modem has ~52MB FLASH ROM and it contains the 'drivers' that is needed. So its all inside the modem itself !

That's the thing, I've always been able to torrent during daytime.
No special settings or VPN. Average speed daytime 15~20KBps & night 50~110KBps.

Or maybe as prasys stateed , USB modem didn't firewalled, and so that u could get better performance than ZTE modem. rclxms.gif

Finger crossed.... but I was on the ZTE for 2 weeks b4 I move into USB, the problem with ZTE is that he signal is so inconsistence with high rise condo (like myself on the 19th floor) it almost made me jump off the buliding trying to get a decent connection. But even at that time, torrent in the daytime is still possible, around 10-15Kbps, but need to adjust the parabolic direction once a while when the speed starts dropping, really annoying.

Look

There are two types of Internet Service

Maxis Internet Service (Aka Internet2Go) gives you a 58.x.x.x IP range. Notice that , they give you a better connection and they dont block any sort of connections. So it means that you get superb speed

Their APN is wap or maxis. But ours is maxisbb. We are going through a different system and a different approach by maxis

I strongly believe that the location and the number of users connected at that particular base station plays an important role. No matter how strong (in dBm) the signal is, if it is a highly populated surfer/voicecall user, you are likely to be given low priority usage as compared to a less signal but also less populated location. I think the question of the day is that can anyone provide a clue on the IP string (121.X.X.X, 58.X.X.X or 192.X.X.X) matching the base core system used to power them.
