For me never ask for raise. Coz my employer promoted me when it comes to that one to one yearly discussion

For me I feel that if u have to ask means u can leave. Another way u can throw letter and tell them the issue

But talk first with your boss. 3 year no raise no promotion something wrong with you or company

my senior also just left not too long ago after they gave her a 4% increment after 4/5yrs or service(I got my +4% too then after about 3yrs service). So far I think my end is alright, been doing good in many ways and I am proud of it. But i'm at the stage where I am still looking for better opportunities...since im working within the embassy line..jobs dont come up too often..so Id rather take whatever I can get first before the next opporunity comes along.

Have a talk with your manager but come with facts such as your achievements and notable contribution

This is important to have a discussion of how u see your value in the Organization and warrant a salary adjustment or increment as current economic climate and inflation is very different compared to 3 years ago

Probably first, you'll have to check what's roughly the market rate. Example, for similar role in other organization - how much do they pay? What is the range of salary for a role similar to you? And where does your current salary falls in that range? Whether its at the lower tier or out of the range, or you're being paid within the average range? Find out the "gap". Then from the gap, how much is your expectation for a salary adjustment?

When you nego for salary adjustment, you have to:

- show the kind of value you bring to the organization (your achievement/ contribution or success), or,
- show the gap of earning (ie. current market rate is x but company is paying you 20% below market rate and you're unhappy with this), or,
- bring another external offer to the table and inform them you're considering it (FYI this is a bit more drastic that you're on the verge of leaving)

Yes totally agree. For my case, I asked several times via Annual Review and 1 to 1 discussion for adjustment with valid reasons.

No result and all LIES. Left the company shortly after, problem solved smile.gif

when you ask for a raise, your boss will feel that you will run.
so, if you have to ask for a raise. it is time for you to find new job.

It all depends on whether your boss is a piece of shit or not. If they are selfish or saving the quota for kaki jilat, you are screwed. However there are good bosses as well.

I'm a top performer but my jilat skills not so pro.

I agree.
All depends on boss.

Some r very fair. Some like the kipas crowd.

Just ask. There's no harm in asking for it, but pls be prepared with facts why you deserved the raise (eg. exceed KPI expectation, etc) and NOT due to inflation reason.
In my company, the manager like to say "ask, and you shall receive".
