Asking for a raise, Want to up salary

For me never ask for raise. Coz my employer promoted me when it comes to that one to one yearly discussion
For me I feel that if u have to ask means u can leave. Another way u can throw letter and tell them the issue
But talk first with your boss. 3 year no raise no promotion something wrong with you or company
