If first time apply, apply entry level with no annual fee
Later when you moved up then only apply high tier CC |

What for you want a credit card?
You required it for business purposes, then limits is more important If just wanna be with her in crowd, then get those starter cards basic cards, see if you can handle it Now am using basic Citibank card with 25k limit And keep blueballing them Monthly spending ~RM500 Payment always on time And they keep calling me to push for personal loan, (lol no) |

Apply for bank cc card which provide 0% instalment on merchant. Comes in handy when in need.
Annual fees usually can waive if got use several times in a year. Else can threaten the bank to cancel CC and usually they will bagi chan one. |

used to own 1. just get the one that is compatible for you to do the 12 month no interest payment (EPP). Maybank one is good. Of course get the islamic version if you're muslim.
Don't ever swipe more that what u can pay. sakit woo bayar lumpsum just for CC. If maybe 200/month EPP still manageable. Plan your purchase. Now I seldomly do big purchases unless got extra cash or absolutely necessary. CC is just a means of payment. Don't even fall into the debt trap. also I don't care about the CC freebies. just get one that waives the yearly fee. all those points la,etc is overrated for me. QUOTE(TheEvilMan @ Dec 29 2022, 10:06 AM) Thats why i reject upgrade even if total spending reach the requirement, later not enough spending one day need to go request to waive, so tedious yup..last time i can hit that easily because i spend my business trip expenses with CC then claim back from companybut once MCO i direct cancel it although they say they can waive for free without spending limit requirement |

QUOTE(fantasy1989 @ Dec 29 2022, 10:05 AM) if u are new customer (first 3 year free annual) ..can have a look on their cashback card the thing is their cashback isn't really interesting. I think their cashback platinum is the best but then.use it few years before annual kicked-in then cancel it 1) i don't need petrol cashback - i'm given a company petrol card 2) Grab - i already stop using them. Even i need food delivery i'll be using foodpanda now days. so really only left with 2 category which cashback could only amount to RM30. https://ringgitplus.com/en/credit-card/Citi...filter=Citibank |

credit card is a trap. if you are makan gaji, do not apply for credit card. you can pay full monthly statement for a year, for two year, even 5 years, but you definitely cant pay full for FOREVER. at one point in the future you will be trapped by credit card. this is how CC companies make profit. the so called "cashback and benefits" are just a cheap and small lure to trap you in the future. ayam use cc for fuel, bills, groceries and EPP. make sure pay all expense before cut off date. make sure dont spend over your usual spending before having cc. every month can enjoy cashback and use that for makan2 or wayang.

Maybank just increased my credit limit to MYR25,000, which I don't mind because it allows me to purchase larger items and get more Maybank2U treat points. For over 20 years, I've had the same Maybank credit cards with an MYR6500 limit, no interest charges, and no problems maintaining a zero amount every month. I have the money to buy those items, but I want to keep my credit history in good shape.

QUOTE(Azran1979 @ Dec 29 2022, 10:35 AM) you can say this because you never had a financial difficulties. in such situation don't you think you rather have the CC then to face it penniless?once people are facing financial difficulties, people will go to CC for solution. CC companies understand this well. thats why they will use anything to lure people using their credit card at the first place. |

Just need one - Affin Duo. >RM3k spending get RM80 CB, else >RM2k get RM50. If you spend more than that, then should be upper M40 already those savings might not as good compared to discount from fancy restaurant. This post has been edited by bashlyner: Dec 29 2022, 11:03 AM kidmad liked this post

As a start try Maybank2 cards and try using AMEX as often as possible. AMEX gives the best cash back & points but not many vendors like it.
After that try and see your spending behaviour. Is your spending more focused on petrol? Grab? Shopee? Then u try read up on cards which are vendor focused. Personally i use maybank2 cards and 1 hsbc enough already. |

Didn't apply for any cc before.. somehow all the bank accounts I open will offer me cc. Started off with a 5k basic platinum and they slowly increase my card tier and limit as my salary grew.
Current HSBC cc I have - Just need a minimum of 12 swipes in a year to waive off annual fee. Got free access to Plaza Premium Lounge. Haven't claim anything from my points yet. This post has been edited by RS42: Dec 29 2022, 11:43 AM |
