If possible, (if you are not a frequent traveler collecting points overseas) take credit card where your salary are being bank in. Easy to pay

no annual fee is a lie

using my shittybank CC only the first few years no annual fee, then they slowly creep in the annual fee. have to call for waiver.
also the first few times allowed for waiver then one year i made the mistake of paying for it. they didn't waive since then

recently canceled that shittybank card, retention department called and say can give waiver for annual fee plus 25 for the sub card. too late.

What for you want a credit card?

You required it for business purposes, then limits is more important

If just wanna be with her in crowd, then get those starter cards basic cards, see if you can handle it

Now am using basic Citibank card with 25k limit
And keep blueballing them
Monthly spending ~RM500
Payment always on time

And they keep calling me to push for personal loan, (lol no)

no annual fee is not a lie, u just a dumbass who dint read the fine print properly. A lot of entry card has no annual fee, while some card will waive annual fee only for first 1 to 3 years. Citibank has a card without annual fee, which is City Clear Card.

Apply for bank cc card which provide 0% instalment on merchant. Comes in handy when in need.

Annual fees usually can waive if got use several times in a year. Else can threaten the bank to cancel CC and usually they will bagi chan one.

very easy nia... used to be using Maybank 2 Card with their AMEX alot but in recent years i've switch to most of my usage towards Affin Duo

Monthly just topup RM2k into TnG - immediate cashback RM50
Monthly use it to pay Electrical bill, insurance, prepaid topup etc up to RM1k - immediate cashback RM30

Monthly cashback RM80 yo.. seriously don't miss this card. RM80 x 12 it's still alot of savings.

used to own 1. just get the one that is compatible for you to do the 12 month no interest payment (EPP). Maybank one is good. Of course get the islamic version if you're muslim.

Don't ever swipe more that what u can pay. sakit woo bayar lumpsum just for CC. If maybe 200/month EPP still manageable. Plan your purchase. Now I seldomly do big purchases unless got extra cash or absolutely necessary.

CC is just a means of payment. Don't even fall into the debt trap. also I don't care about the CC freebies. just get one that waives the yearly fee. all those points la,etc is overrated for me.

PPL at most of the countries [other card mostly within KLIA only] < like germany, dubai , hong kong etc
Point convert to krisflyer (much faster)

Sidenote : AMEX with Reserve printed ..more atas feel when travel around (owai)
that time i have many planned business trip ; this card serve me well
issue is RM800 annual (which can be waived with 80k annual spend)

Thats why i reject upgrade even if total spending reach the requirement, later not enough spending one day need to go request to waive, so tedious

the thing is their cashback isn't really interesting. I think their cashback platinum is the best but then.
1) i don't need petrol cashback - i'm given a company petrol card
2) Grab - i already stop using them. Even i need food delivery i'll be using foodpanda now days.

so really only left with 2 category which cashback could only amount to RM30.

Point need to have specific number before redeemable, also need your action to redeem it.

Cashback is automatic, you don't have to deal with it, the benefits will be automatically credited to you balance, better.

My main choice of cc will always be the one with no annual fees and the bank able to provide good service for cases such as dispute, fraud or phishing, last time kena during mco when some gomen link body hold mah money after cancellation and didnt refund beyond their due date, straight file dispute and get my money back two weeks later, bank even call to follow up.

credit card is a trap.

if you are makan gaji, do not apply for credit card.

you can pay full monthly statement for a year, for two year, even 5 years, but you definitely cant pay full for FOREVER.

at one point in the future you will be trapped by credit card. this is how CC companies make profit.

the so called "cashback and benefits" are just a cheap and small lure to trap you in the future.

You must still establish a credit history with the financial system before the banks can grant you a loan. There is no way around this if you cannot afford to buy large purchases in full cash. They want to see how you manage your credits.

to establish credit history you dont have to USE the cc.

CCRIS only look at 0 or 1 in the report.

they dont count scores like in the US.

Just spend within your limit...

Got credit doesn't mean you need to use it...

It's honestly a personal thing but for me... I don't even spend on how much salary I have let alone credit limit... I spend on how much money I allocate from my salary for spending...

For example... if I allocate 30% for spending... I will only spend till that amount... anything more means I cannot afford that thing so either I spend less for the next few months to accumulate the needed money or I just don't buy it at all.. even though I could actually pay for it...

you can say this because you never had a financial difficulties.

once people are facing financial difficulties, people will go to CC for solution.

CC companies understand this well. thats why they will use anything to lure people using their credit card at the first place.

ayam use cc for fuel, bills, groceries and EPP. make sure pay all expense before cut off date. make sure dont spend over your usual spending before having cc. every month can enjoy cashback and use that for makan2 or wayang.

If you Gaya Mesti ada attitude... Earn RM3k spend RM4k... then that one GG la tew....

CC make profit because too many guilty of not able to control the urge to own. Even though it's just a nice to have things. Not a must have. whistling.gif

I was in it long long time ago. bangwall.gif Took me 3-4 years to get rid of all CC, except one. Just for convenience. Lesson learnt.

because many ppl fail on self-discipline ..even telco or electricity bill also pay late or partial payment then only cry mother cry father when shit hit the fan

whats made you think they dont do the same for CC?

if you know you are the person that having poor financial management and self discipline

then just avoid credit card

luckily for me atleast within 13 years of CC ownership..so far never kena any late charges or even CC interest

only kena SST and annual fee if applicable

Maybank just increased my credit limit to MYR25,000, which I don't mind because it allows me to purchase larger items and get more Maybank2U treat points. For over 20 years, I've had the same Maybank credit cards with an MYR6500 limit, no interest charges, and no problems maintaining a zero amount every month. I have the money to buy those items, but I want to keep my credit history in good shape.

you can say this because you never had a financial difficulties.

once people are facing financial difficulties, people will go to CC for solution.

CC companies understand this well. thats why they will use anything to lure people using their credit card at the first place.
*
in such situation don't you think you rather have the CC then to face it penniless?

Just need one - Affin Duo. >RM3k spending get RM80 CB, else >RM2k get RM50.

If you spend more than that, then should be upper M40 already those savings might not as good compared to discount from fancy restaurant.

As a start try Maybank2 cards and try using AMEX as often as possible. AMEX gives the best cash back & points but not many vendors like it.

After that try and see your spending behaviour. Is your spending more focused on petrol? Grab? Shopee? Then u try read up on cards which are vendor focused.

Personally i use maybank2 cards and 1 hsbc enough already.

Didn't apply for any cc before.. somehow all the bank accounts I open will offer me cc. Started off with a 5k basic platinum and they slowly increase my card tier and limit as my salary grew.

Current HSBC cc I have - Just need a minimum of 12 swipes in a year to waive off annual fee. Got free access to Plaza Premium Lounge. Haven't claim anything from my points yet.
