any gud advance tut on f2l... im stuck with 50 sec ish

Most importantly, do your solve F2L intuitively or spam algorithms? smile.gif

He's damn funny. I asked him if his cross plus last layer is 10secs and he said cross 10secs.

Then he say F2L 40secs

That's already 50secs without last layer. How can you solve last layer with 0 secs unless he's not at sub50 rolleyes.gif

I think it's more of a misunderstanding rather than sarcasm laugh.gif

Experience, you do beginner's method OLL/PLL?Is your F2L done intuitively or spamming algorithms or both? hmm.gif

Well I hope it's the former.

3 look OLL PLL.

F2L intuitive. I only memorised one algorithm, and I always turn the wrong way doh.gif That's why I prefer intuitive lol.

Added on April 4, 2010, 1:57 amWhat about you?

I might start memorising OLL and PLL if I can't get past sub50 laugh.gif

I guess experience comes into hand here.Once your more familiar with setting up cases, you'll be spamming algos in no time.Heck, i only know one or two-the rest are intuitive laugh.gif

Yeah, one more thing i learned is reduce the number of cube rotations. Will help a lot in speedcubing smile.gif

Yeah. But the ironic part is I perform better if I do cube rotations doh.gif

By setting up cases you mean executing F2L algorithms to get the setup you want?

By setting up cases i mean setting up the pairs before insertion. This is where most cube rotations are done at iinm. smile.gif Try set up the pairs at different angle and yes slotting at different angles as well. Will save a lot of time

Heck, i also do cube rotations a lot hence my slow times laugh.gif

Now trying to learn F2L algos and OLL/PLL cases

I see.

I somehow managed to minimize my cube rotation and insert slightly faster now. Metronome did helped a bit.

Guess I'm back to practice slow slotting till I can see everything haha. It works better for me that way.

Regardless, I hope I'll get over with my stucking cube. >.>

I suck at slotting on the left. Right no problem. Behind forget it.

I'll read up on PLL most likely. Soon. Not so soon maybe. laugh.gif

Now 2 of you are the most active ones in this thread, lol......

I'm learning the full OLL for now, progressing quite slow because of my heavy school work and my finals is coming soon......

By the way, does memorizing F2L algorithms help??? I mean, is it effective to cut down your F2L time???

Theoretically, memorizing algorithms will make your muscle work at a faster rate (muscle memory), so it should be faster.

But I don't know since I'm intuitive laugh.gif

But my intuitive also a lot on muscle memory. But still need to 'see' when I turn as sometimes I flip to the wrong side lol.

Hmm, sounds logical.....
Although I'm using intuitive F2L, but I've kinda created my own algorithms, so it's implemented to my muscles, lol......
I'm sure some of them are not minimal in moves, but at least I execute them smoothly....

So while I'm inserting a pair, I'm already looking for the next....

I'm still mastering my cross. I can't lookahead during the 15secs as I'll get lost.

I go impromptu and seems faster that way lol as I don't give a shit to shorter turns as long as I get the cross done.

Nice you create your own algos. I need to learn lookahead for F2L already, not that good in it.

Hmm, my skills on setting up the cross is still weak as well.....those strong cubers are able to plan the moves for the cross, and even the 1st pair if possible, during the 15sec inspection.....

And I just able to plan to set up 2 or 3 edge pieces of the cross during inspection, or set up whole thing if the cross was easy....

For easier look ahead for setting up pairs, most of the cubers will do the cross on the bottom face as well, so while setting up the cross, they can already looking for pair pieces on top angle.....
This is even tougher to do, lol.......

Damn long time the vid don't bother. It's too old laugh.gif

Will take my latest solving time with my cam soon. Don't expect sub40 though, unless it's a lucky solve XD
