Let's see:

Cross + 1 slot / Heise method and cross - 10secs
F2L Intuitive - 35~40secs
OLL PLL beginners method - ~10secs.

Yeah it "should be around" 40secs max for my F2L, which is damn slow T___T

I just searched for the 'metronome technique'. Is it the one where you use a metronome and play? How many bpm you reckon?

I never knew about that method =D

Thanks.

-edit: Intuitive F2L about few months ady (almost a year), but last few months I kind of rarely touch my rubiks, been touching back again since the week before CNY-

p/s - The last time I talked to you like a year ago I avg 1min20secs XD
*
I'm in the same boat as you

I started to learn the cube for a month and a half now-started around late Jan and have been practicing my F2L for around 3 weeks now.My average times are around 50seconds+(if i'm really lucky sweat.gif )

I'm also using normal cross,F2L and beginner method OLL and PLL...

I'm also having some difficulties finding the pairs...lining them up properly then inserting them which cost me a lot of time sad.gif Any tips here?

Oh btw....i'm also looking to learn OLL and PLL over here:

http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/PLL
http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/OLL

I don't quite understand the notations such as

r U R' U' M2 (U R U' R') U' M'
y F' (L' U' L U) (L' U' L U) (L' U' L U) F

What's the "r" and the bracket " ( ) " and the "y"?

Guys...this is my video

Did a fast time of 47 seconds using cross,F2L,beginner's OLL and PLL...PB is 39sec

Yeah....one of my main weaknesses in my F2L is finding the pairs and positioning them sigh sweat.gif

Any comments are greatly appreciated icon_rolleyes.gif

Hmm, basically the thing which slowed you down is the delay when you stop and look for the F2L pair....
You can try to avoid that by looking at the next pair already while you're inserting 1......of course, this needs some practice.....

By the way, try to execute OLL and PLL faster also.......then you should be at least able to sub-40 in average soon......
*
My F2L really sucks sad.gif Finding the next pair while inserting is really really tough...

And also if u observe my video properly...u can see that i always hold onto a corner piece and drag it around the cube to find the other pair doh.gif That's because i need to face the corner piece in front while the other piece is at the opposite end..

And one more thing...i can't do back/side insertion(when inserting F2L pair...i need to face the corner cube...while other people can do it at the back...meaning using different fingering)

Hey cleave, did you introduced our Youtube group and the forum here?

Though I don't think advertising other forums are allowed here but, it's no harm telling them what. biggrin.gif
@-kytz-, Sorry didn't noticed your video. I like your clown cube. smile.gif
And your solve, try to look ahead and don't rotate the cube so much, and try to make your turns smooth though.
*
You mean my revenge cube? brows.gif It gets very loose after a while playing with it doh.gif

The reason why i rotate a lot is because i can only do F2L when the corner piece is facing me..I can't do it at the side/back like all the pros do sad.gif

@ -kytz-

A revenge cube is a 4x4x4, your cube, as I can see, has a packaging of a clown on the paper and covered by a plastic.

And, what do you mean by rotationless F2L insert? Are you sure it's not called Backslotting?

Basically, backslotting is when you are facing Blue, and you spot a pair that is easy to do on the back or sides, you don't rotate the cube but you use B/L/R to insert.
*
yea..i think it's called backslotting or side slotting my bad blush.gif Any idea how to improve on that??

Anyway do u do memorize algorithms for every F2L case?I just know the very very basic "setting up the pairs"...and not memorizing algo for each type of case like this

awesome solve frankooi! rclxms.gif

Like other pro cubers i also noticed you use your right hand to do all the F2L pair insertion and setting up...I definitely need to practice on just using my right hand sad.gif Any tips?Look back at my video i posted before and you'll see my major flaw sad.gif

That's because there's many algorithms out there had R in the algo.
*
So should i memorize algorithms for every F2L setting up case and insertion?Seems like most cubers are using that hmm.gif

how can I get to 15-20 sec speed?

pretty good.Definitely better than me rclxms.gif

Answering your question, although i don't have such speed yet, you'll need to have a good look ahead. You're using intuitive F2L?

You're wrong, AFAIK, more cubers uses Intuitive F2L. Youtube it up..

I recommend you to watch tutorials by Badmephisto, he explains very well and detailed.
*
My bad...didn't know that tongue.gif

So, you're saying that most cubers use Intuitive F2L?Meaning they don't memorize the algorithms for certain setting up cases but actually just remember where to position them for insertion?

Same like the clown cube i'm using now blush.gif It's bloody loose and each time i go for a time, 70% it'll pop out lol

My clown cube does get stuck though but dunno yours is up to what extent.Yes it can cut corners smile.gif

I think the main problem should be with your F2L times not so much of the OLL/PLL

If possible, do post your F2L times inclusive of the cross smile.gif I guess 25-35 secs should be quite okay already tongue.gif
