Sorry from the basic description i have no idea what it is.
Perhaps you could describe it in more detail or show us a picture?

How big is the lump, which part of tummy is it, liquid filled like a pimple, hard like a growth, or soft like fat?

Sorry Kenji, really cant see much from the pic,
all i see is a reddish area in the place that you circled.

Edit to add:

This might be of interest to you Kenji

Common Symptom : Lumps or masses under skin

Possible Cause : Several possible causes, some benign, some malignant, even possible pregnancy. See photos of a hedgehog with an allergic reaction (picture) and separately, a hedgehog with a staph infection ( pic 1, pic 2 )

Remedy to Consider : See vet immediately. The difference between a non-dangerous condition and a life-threatening one may not be immediately apparent, as shown by the photos of the allergic reaction, which faded on its own, and the staph infection, which could have been fatal.

Just check the area daily, if it changes in color / size, or if more spots appear you should see a vet.

QUOTE(atolycus @ May 2 2008, 10:45 AM)
hi guys. i'm just wondering, anyone of you keep ur hedgies in ur room and you smoke in the room at the same time???? hehe cos , i'm planning to get one, but scared the hedgy cannot tahan. My fishes healthy, my dog runs out whenever i smoke. i wonder the hedgehog can tahan or not
*
Hedgehogs most sensitive and developed sense is their sense of smell.
even simple things like certain detergents or the smell of lotion on your hands can cause a surprising degree of respiratory irritation in hedgies
Im afraid cigarette smoke would be a big no.
Prolonged and continued exposure to smoke of any kind will likely result in a URI. An untreated URI can kill a hedgehog in days.

Another thing is free roaming hedgies, its not reccomended.

Due to their small size and love of squeezing into small corners. you might move a chair/table/box only to result in accidentally killing your hedgie
Even a simple thing like opening a door when the hedgie is behind the door....you can imagine
All wiring must be hidden, all holes closed up.
Also yes, some hedgies can be litter trained, but not all.
A larger area means you will need multiple litter trays. and even then the hedgie might not use them instead choosing to pee and poo wherever he pleases. Not to mention you will be stepping on quills like there is no tomorrow.
Can you ensure that the floor will always be clean of things that the hedgie might eat and choke/get poisoned with?
Hedgehogs dislike bright lights and loud noises. Can your room be dark and quiet?
The hedgehog will have difficulty identifying its own 'zone' because other people are always invading it. Where will it go when it wants some quiet private time? How will you minimize the stress this will cause.

Theres just too many things that can go wrong...

Also ferrets and hedgies do not go well together. How will you be able to keep your free roam hedgie safe without a cage? Accidents can happen and you wont be home 24/7 to make sure they dont.

Please dont attempt to let them make 'friends'.
In the wild the number 1 predator of hedgehogs is the fox, totally genetically unrelated to the ferret but with a very similar personality.
Ferrets in olden times were trained to hunt rats, totally genetically unrelated to hedgies but once again similar enough.

Atolycus, perhaps a hedgie is not suitable for your situation?
Since you have not bought one yet i suggest you do alot more reasearch about them, rather than buy and make mistakes.
From the situation you wanted to put your hedgie in it seems like maybe you misunderstand what they are like.
They are a solitary, small prey animal that requires alot of peace, quiet, patience.

Cim... I din use sand d.. but till now I'm still thinkin bout it...
should i use breeder celect esp. for litter? or can use it for bedding also?
I use litter box to make my job easier as he knows how to poo n pee on the litter box..
of no litter box he just simply pee poo on the bedding which made it smelly n have to change everytime..
if got litter i can just throw the things...how how how?

You can continue to use your wood shavings as bedding, just fill the litter tray with breeders celect.

Bedding can be wood shavings or safe cloth.
The litter tray can be filled with paper towel or safe litters like breeders celect.

Does not matter what combination you choose, the most important thing is to provide an area for him to do his business.

How much do you give in a day?
Adults eat roughly around 2 tablespoons per day, babies around 2-4 months old will eat more.

Hedgies should be free fed, meaning there should always be some food in the bowl so they can eat whenever they want.

Its not necessary to controll or limit the food they eat unless they are overweight

Another thing is some hedgies prefer the taste of freshly added kibble laugh.gif

Hedgies like to eat and poo at the same time, i guess they like the feeling of food going in one end and coming out at the other end sweat.gif
so usually poo in the bowls is caused by 2 problems.

1) The bowls are too big, big enough that they can stand inside and eat, resulting in poo in the bowl

2) The food and water bowl might be too close together, causing the hedgehog to stand in one while eating/drinking out of the other.

Getting smaller bowls or putting the food/water bowl further from one another will solve the problem

EDIT: Oh another thing, dont put the bowls in a corner, putting them along the side of the wall is better. Some hedgehogs like to poo/pee in the corners of the cage

2 tablespoons per day meaning this is roughly the amount they eat in 24 hours. Some eat more some eat less.

You can give it all at one shot or split it up its the same actually. Depends on you and your hedgies eating habits.

I will fill with 1 tbsp at night after washing the bowl. Then the next morning i will top up with another tbsp.
At night i will throw away any leftovers, wash the bowl and fill with 1 tbsp again.

Most hedgies will eat more during the night than the day. So you might want to give more at night than during the day if you plan on splitting up the feedings.

I like to do it in 2 feedings because i can monitor more closely how much they eat this way and there will always be some fresher kibble in the bowl.
Demon has a tendency to be more interested to eat the fresher kibbles. Angel does not seem to notice the difference.
Also since i change the water in the water bowl twice a day, i might as well do the food at the same time.

Yeah the poo high up on the walls....i dont get it either.
Maybe they reverse their bums up on the walls and poo laugh.gif

Heres a funky color for your viewing pleasure. Its been described as extreme Reverse Pinto.

Pinto: A colored hedgie with spots of skin and quills that lack pigmentation

Reverse Pinto: A hedgie that has no pigment on most of its body, but with spots of colored skin and quills.

I cant find the thread where i got the pics from atm, will add it in when i find it.

Note spot of dark banded quills on his bum and ruby red eyes. (albinos have pink eyes, not ruby red)

Albinism in hedgehogs means 100% no pigment anywhere on the body.
So if there are any banded (colored) quills on the body at all, its definitely not an albino.

Dont confuse banded quills with the creamy yellowish patches that sometimes appear on the quills of albinos.
This is usually either from the natural oils that the body produces (same reason why the white hair on old people sometimes looks yellowish) or staining from urine.

Seriously hedgehog coloring is pretty confusing, took me 4 months of reading the same colour chart over and over again to figure out Demons colour ><

Dont really get what you mean, you mean you want to line the wheel with paper?
No point actually, cos the pee will still soak through and dirty the wheel
i think you will just end up with a bigger mess to clean

I think the ticker changes at different times cos now they are showing a different age again
Probably it depends on what time you create the banner, or you could always go with Kenji's theory laugh.gif
