Anybody rides with full gear all the time?

I never realized that gloves can help so much, less effort needed to handle the clutch and brakes, better control, and of course, comfortable. I have boots as well and ride with it, but they don't look too hard core. Using Five gloves, with the pre-curve.

Haven't gotten riding jeans/pants yet. I noticed a lot of "riding jeans" are just normal jeans and majority of it doesn't have armored lining, just the pocket for the CE pad at the knee and that's it. Which means if you slide on tarmac, you're gonna lose all your skin.

I'm in full gear 99% of the time. That 1%maybe is going to the Taman shops to get burger or smokes.

Boots, riding pants, jacket, gloves, and a good helmet. Even when I do squid on that 1%, I still have at least my helmet, boots and gloves on.

It's hot, but I rather save some skin and bones.

Lai lai share your gear.

My Komine mesh pants has leather over the sliding areas...
*
Eh didn’t see such model on sale now. I like the cotton Komine camo design but it’s not armored.

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Oct 31 2022, 04:31 PM)
Only helmet n gloves 100% of the time...the rest i usually squid...even my once a week 35km commute oso just hoodie, shorts n crocs coz of what i have to do at the destination which involves alot of sweating n dust n etc.

Yes yes..i know its not right and i should be wearing boots n pants n proper jacket etc...can change at destination etc....

Touring ill be on full gear though including riding pants and boots n jacket...and also compression shirt n pants as well.
*
Suggest you put on a jacket? Quite easy. Looks funny, a squid in shorts and crocs with jacket. But why not?

I gotten an awesome deal about MYR680 for a brand new mesh jacket with CE Level 1 armor on shoulder, elbow and back. Rarely got CE back armor included.

I'm AGATT all the time even when i ride to work. unless i'm go out to nearby shops to tapau - i'll put on my lighter weight ride jacket and use my mountain bike knee guard.

not sure if you consider this is full gear or not.  Other than my fullface helmet, this is what i wear when i ride.
*
You wear those boots the entire day? How does your feet fare? Haven’t spent extended periods with my boots, similar height as yours. Other than the sole being super stiff and reinforced pad for shifter, it looks *ok* for daily wear.

I think yours is full gear, no sliding protection for hips and butts but that’s not mission critical. We don’t slide like Rossi most of the time. It is really carbodo and motobodo most of the time.

If I was riding a scooter I might use a lower cut shoe instead of stiff boots.

I'm going to imagine myself herding donkeys from now on, whenever I don't imagine myself being a racer
*
Good mindset. And donkeys are donkeys so don’t expect them to be rational or logical.

I DGAF about other people, so people taking photos or making fun doesn’t bother me. Can look like macam yes, bergaya.

Don’t need to respond anyway, just smile.

It’s our life and our skin. I’m not going to put my my safety aside cause people make fun of me. And don’t need to answer them.

One thing that concerns me is people gearing up with stuff they think is safe.. when it’s not.

I’ve seen quite a number of motorcycle riding boots that doesn’t have CE rating…. And a lot of mesh jackets esp Taichi and Komine that has CE armor but the jacket itself doesn’t have CE rating for abrasion. Same with my own mesh jacket. No CE for abrasion. I’ve got a leather jacket but that doesn’t have back armor only shoulder and elbow.

Depends where you want to stick it too. Usually it's just 3M tape.

I have that stuck on my karting helmet...seems to be still secure after 1 year.. But on motorcycle, I prefer to use my mirror stalk ball mount. More secure..and more adjustments.....and I can loop a safety wire on it just in case the mount fails.

Also don't like the additional weight and aero compromise having a cam on the helmet.
*
Good point regarding the weight and aero on helmet, but I prefer the helmet POV since it shows when you are checking your six.

Guess it is which compromise that I want.

many jackets comes with CE rated elbow and shoulder, but back usually give a useless foam piece. So do take note. The back armor is more important.

both are nylon Cordura pants, thanks but I suggest you skip just get polyester or mix cotton
*
what is the rational behind it? please share. cotton or poly+cotton no slide protection, later DNA on the tarmac.

I think the optimum option is either cordura, or kevlar lined on the knee and bum. BUT, fake Komine with real CE1 is better than normal jeans, I've seen those being quite affordable, so no excuse really.

10/10 would recommend to every rider. Gave my friend a set, she used it first leg of the ride. Second leg too lazy to put on and she said OMG made crazy ass difference. That’s with a modular. I ride with a full face. Would not ride without it.

The faster you go, the bigger the difference.

does it hinder awareness in city riding situation?

Not for me. It was just so much more comfortable where the wind noise is drastically reduced. Mine are 3M foamies.

disagree... my exhaust is loud AF... n the wind noise can drown out the exhaust alot... i wear earplugs mainly for wind noise but at the same time exhaust is reduced quite significantly.
*
Same here. Exhaust noise doesn’t feel as painful as the constant wind noise.

Wind noise really tiring and wears me down. Exhaust is not as loud but still rumbles when I twist the go fast handle.

Got my Kevlar lined riding pants and “cordura” jeans today. The Cordura felt very light and looks/feels like normal cotton jeans. The label says 100% cotton, afaik Cordura must have nylon in it. Could be fake lah these Chinese crap.

The Kevlar lined pants surely got some heft to it. But still comfy to wear with the CE 1 rated armor. Good to have it on the bum and knee. The “cordura” is of course more comfy than the Kevlar lined pants because it’s lighter… but I think it’s fakedura.

Anybody wants CE1 knee and hip armor? I don’t need 2 sets. Shopee selling RM80 for a pair, means RM160 for both pairs. I’ll let it go for RM100, both pairs FCFS.

I’ll just throw it in washing machine with gentle cycle and then line dry not under hot sun.

But that’s me. If it disintegrates then I have excuse to buy new ones.

Fake or real Chanel bag maybe.

i bought earplugs and it arrived yesterday.  Not sure if i've gotten the wrong earplugs (mack's pillosoft silicone putty earplug), but the isolation is very good. too good till i forgot to even shift to 6th gear.. The wind noise did reduce alot tho. I'm getting used to the isolation feeling. It is still quite a weird sensation for me, going to 100% road noise to like 20% road noise does feel a little eerie at times.
*
Great to hear that. Pun intended.

We should all enjoy safe riding but not at the cost of losing hearing.

For geniuses who says it’s dangerous riding with ear plugs, guess what? It’s even more dangerous when you are deaf. Plus you can’t *hear* the idiot in the car playing with his phone coming from behind you anyway.

Ear plugs cut off constant noises very well. Other noises are still audible. I just used it on a flight, can still hear the baby crying but the engine drone was cut significantly down.

Anybody got budget cam recommendation? I realize for bike I don’t need a screen or touch screen — difficult to use with gloves. If anything, need tactile buttons just to turn on and record.

Hmmm... i been riding with short pants, slippers and also a shirt... not sure what gear to get and what is best for a beginner... haha... still searching... or anyone can recommend which shop to look for?

Thanks in advance... haha...

I recommend riding boots with ECE rating first. Skin on tarmac vs crushed ankle/foot. Easier to grow skin than bones.

Second is gloves. But there are affordable gloves, so should get it together with the boots.

Then in the meantime can wear normal jeans and denim jacket, won’t save much skin in a slide but beats t shirt and shorts.

Battery life is pretty crap though. Good for motovlogging, but not so good as a dashcam.

Good point. Got 2 batteries, still not enough for longer trips if I ever do it.
