As a man let me tell you that I prefer manual shaving to electric. The latter is just too slow.

QUOTE(Takudan @ Oct 23 2022, 12:31 AM) Hi guys, I want to buy one for my bf but there's so many choices I'm a little overwhelmed. What I seek: I'm using Philips norelco 7000- Budget 500, can go higher if ticks all my boxes - smooth shave if possible - wet/dry use - convenient to use (cordless, decent battery etc.) - durable (3+ years would be nice!) Note: he still uses good ol' manual shaver, and I read that it takes time to get used to and there's difference in the usage/technique... Please share your experiences if any! Some of these brands came up in my search... Any specific model to recommend? - Braun - Philips - Panasonic - Xiaomi Thanks in advance Try search on shopee This post has been edited by sinnlig: Oct 26 2022, 07:09 PM |

QUOTE(trix @ Oct 25 2022, 02:30 PM) This For TS reference, hair after wet shave vs electric shaver Faster, maybe. A used/worn blade will make a lot of noise whacking the facial hair, before actually making them short enough. They're not really cutting the hair, just whacking and fraying the tips until they break. In the long run, not good for the hair and skin as well. Thanks for the insight.. I'm curious to know how it feels to touch though...? If "fraying the tips until they break" means the hair is less prickly to touch then that's actually better imo lol. How is it bad for the skin exactly? Does ingrown hair happen more often or something? |

QUOTE(Takudan @ Oct 27 2022, 08:06 PM) I'm surprised to see such a difference under microscopic view 😱 Once the stubble has grown, the feeling to the touch is the sameThanks for the insight.. How is it bad for the skin exactly? Does ingrown hair happen more often or something? For me, using electric shaver caused more breakout since I have to press it a little bit harder to the skin to get a more smooth shave There is also the itchiness after the shave as well Never got any ingrown hair before because of it |

QUOTE(Takudan @ Oct 27 2022, 08:06 PM) I'm surprised to see such a difference under microscopic view 😱 after a shave be it razor or trimmer or electric, the prickly is less for half a day or so, during which the hair 'recovers' from the 'injury' by wicking away skin moisture and either becomes thicker at the edges or break off a bit more to come to shape. later on it becomes prickly. different person hair also different, you may monitor his hair and make own assessment. Thanks for the insight.. How is it bad for the skin exactly? Does ingrown hair happen more often or something? in grown hair is more likely with razor close shave, also depends on skin condition and hair type of the person in short, if grooming matters a lot like want to look consistently shaven every day, then an electric is a must have, and the skin may need getting used to. maintenance is a bit higher, because those things need tedious cleaning (taking apart and rinse and dry, some also need oiling like trimmers), or replaced (higher cost, blades, batteries etc) if unfortunately kena allergy to the shaver, then maybe nickel allergy from the stainless steel part, or something like that. |
