check the price of the replacement blades and see if that will work

electric shavers/trimmers always have a net/frame between the cutting blade and the facial hair, so they don't do a smooth shave, but they're safe. A used/worn blade will make a lot of noise whacking the facial hair, before actually making them short enough. They're not really cutting the hair, just whacking and fraying the tips until they break. In the long run, not good for the hair and skin as well.

I'm surprised to see such a difference under microscopic view 😱
Thanks for the insight.. I'm curious to know how it feels to touch though...? If "fraying the tips until they break" means the hair is less prickly to touch then that's actually better imo lol. How is it bad for the skin exactly? Does ingrown hair happen more often or something?

after a shave be it razor or trimmer or electric, the prickly is less for half a day or so, during which the hair 'recovers' from the 'injury' by wicking away skin moisture and either becomes thicker at the edges or break off a bit more to come to shape. later on it becomes prickly. different person hair also different, you may monitor his hair and make own assessment.

in grown hair is more likely with razor close shave, also depends on skin condition and hair type of the person

in short, if grooming matters a lot like want to look consistently shaven every day, then an electric is a must have, and the skin may need getting used to. maintenance is a bit higher, because those things need tedious cleaning (taking apart and rinse and dry, some also need oiling like trimmers), or replaced (higher cost, blades, batteries etc)

if unfortunately kena allergy to the shaver, then maybe nickel allergy from the stainless steel part, or something like that.

What an insight, did not know electric shaver need to do tedious maintenance. I still prefer gillette mach3 turbo.

haha, Mach3 da best.

It gets greasy inside, too, with our sebum and what not.
Some parts are fragile, and often mistakes can be expensive.

Electrical shavers are like printers, they really sell the replacement blades and shaving foam.

Electric shaver almost always have this net thing, so for the facial hair to get trimmed, it has to go through the holes first. It's like letting the shaver blades play whack a mole from inside the net. That's why always can miss a hair or two, not a clean shave unless being thoroughly repeated. Trimmer is the next best thing after manual blades.
