Anyone here permanently on beta builds? How is it so far as a daily driver? Any issues or disasters that you faced throughout?

that's a pretty sweet deal.
JP set?

i'm considering jumping bck into the pixel bandwagon.
but uncertain 5G support is what concerns me.
it's the very reason i jump out of pixel to begin previously.

The bolded part - still stand true until today
So you might want to reconsider jumping back to the pixel bandwagon

In addition to that...the tensor SoC, is somehow a downgrade if you're already using flagship from 2022 with snapdragon 8+ gen 1

i dont mind the mid range chip actually.
i just need it to be efficient.
actually rooting kinda solves the 5G issue
i've been a long time user of root.
but recent banking apps requirement has been a real pain the in ass.
pbb for example, doesn't work even wit the latest root hiding modules.

That's the problem with tensor
It is neither efficient nor fast... guess it is a common issue with SoC made in Samsung foundry
Which is also why Qualcomm went to TSMC after 888 and 8 gen 1.

while not fantastic, i think it's good enough.
samsung fabrication has has always been behind TSMC.

for me, the main attraction of pixel is the unlimited photo backup, & the fantastic point & shoot camera.
some might argued that no, pixel doesn't hav the best camera, the sony phone is better, much more fine tuning.
but i ask myself, how often do i actually edit photos that i've taken b4 sharing it?
the answer is almost never.
i just want something that gives me reliable consistence photos everytime.

My experience being back from a holiday trip for almost two weeks using pixel 8 pro for pictures and 4k60 10bit videos, it held up to the most efficient two different iphone 15 pros. It may lack the numbers on synthetic numbers on benchmark applications, but the battery on my phone only needed to be topped up around 5-6 pm in the evening while the iphones needed charging around lunch time(one iphone at 1pm and the other around 2pm). Our day started at 8-9am and ended around 12am-1am everyday for 12 days.
Our usage are mostly google maps, camera, instagram, youtube, tiktok, whatsapp and telegram)

Talking about speed, cameras, maps, music and videos watching has been instantaneous in launch time. For games i wont be able to tell because i dont game on my phone(also pixels arent marketed as a gaming powerhouse)

My pixel upgrade every year and so does the other two iphones. They are all not all that different when it come to real world non gaming scenario. Ofcourse these arent very scientific test, but i think most people would agree real world experience matter just as much.

so is pixel 8 pro better than your previous pixel 7 pro in terms of battery?

you start the day at 9am, what is the average battery level when you charge at 6pm? 50%? 20%?

any overheat warning after some time when you record in 4k60?

At 6pm it will be around 20-30%. I never let my phone go below 20%. Overheat warning never happened to me on p8p since my videos are at max 7-8 minutes. My 7 pro was slightly worse in term of heat and battery life, but still doesnt really affect my daily use.

Reportedly released but still no update for my P7 after pressing the "Check for Update" a few many times.

I'm on the latest beta, that has 5G on Yoodo (Celcom), but on the latest available stable version of 14 there was no 5G.

Interesting that they're rolling out QPR2 beta already, whereas QPR1 stable will only be out next month. Let us know how's your experience with the QPR2 beta, especially if 5G is still there. biggrin.gif

5G is there by default.

Still no VoWIFI. Can enable back with PixelIMS+Shizuku. VoWiFi settings survive restart so after phone restart still can see/enable VoWiFi in the Calls and SMS setting
