The structure of the tyre comprising steel radial plies and nylon/canvass belts is intact and performing as designed.

Heck, the tyre structure is not even 'punished' with a minor or major impactful collision .

Tyre manufacturers do NOT recommend tyre replacement base on collision or impact, why would a cosmetic kacang putih abrasion on OP's tyre sacrificial (rubber) layers justify a tyre replacement????

It doesn't even justify minor or major 'repair' or 'touch up'.

Hence, what we have here is purely fear mongering without technical and structural basis.
Note: Are  punctured tyres (with structural steel plies and belts being punched through by iron nails and screws) being typically recommended for tyre replacement???

Yes. If TS change new tires and ditch the old tires, mostly they are going to sell his previous tires as 2nd hand and earn extra money.. laugh.gif
For me the condition is still acceptable for everyday use.

Hi there, first of all it's true that the belt and carcass of the tire is still in tact. What was shown on the tire is a cut and chip issue where partial tread blocks are chipped away from the tread. It seems to me the tire must have done some kind of off-road activity.

Regarding your fear comments, I disagree with this line of thought. The upside is saving some money, however the down side is a much higher risk of puncture and possibly loosing some handling characteristics of the tire. This would usually lead to a minor inconvenience or worse case a major accident. If it's a downside is something we can't bear the risk Is not worth taking. Hence from my point of view, the logical thing to do is to change a new tire.

Repel water mostly from the middle longkang, if you look at the treads original water path line still available, even the sides treads path line it still remain. I driven with Pirelli & Michelin PS2/3 in the past with these condition it is no issue for normal road use even during wet.

This is the stock Continental cross LX sport.

Mine not that bad but this tyre performed very poorly on wet surface.

Not worth it bro, get it changed. Better tyres. Not this one

time to change, these type of tires will have no grip on very wet road conditions causing your car to lose grip under braking condition and may possible skid if braking too hard.

stay and drive safe, prevention is better.

Best reply ever!

The word here is fear mongering! Everything when there a minor issue, standard reply is to change. 'Tyres are the only thing that grips your car on the road. So dont take chances'

But heck! That's people with little knowledge about tyres.

A little bit little bit change. Why don't change the whole damn car instead since there 'could' be a possibility of parts failure which may cause death.

Truly support this. Unless you drive like a F1 driver everyday, just use it till It's time to change.

As I said it is alignment problem, never mind the scenario that detail alignment numbers are not forthcoming.

can use

I google this tyre is for all seasons touring, suitable for highway, and good grip even in light snow, not so suitable use in Malaysia

driving style also maybe a bit aggressive for the design and compound causing the edges to chip and crack

no issue la.. tyres nowadays got chips and peels one. Baru 19k km and 3 years.. Still can last. Not like you everyday fly 120km/h then jam brake to a stop.

Malaysia's roads are not smooth and flat all the time. I'm sure most medium compounds or 'comfort' tyres will have this kind of looks after certain mileage has been reached.

Steady la.. as long as you drive within your means and your capabilities, what is there to be afraid of? You know its raining, wet road conditions, don't fly. As simple as that. Besides, water repelling / threading is done by the grooves in the middle la. The sides don't really matter if im not mistaken, the grooves and pattern in the middle still so nice ...

unless you really got frighten by the replies here, then go change la.. otherwise just continue to use it.
