QUOTE(MAGAMan-X @ Sep 30 2022, 03:51 PM) Check out the YouTube video in post #44, it's a bit long but it will give you a VERY good idea of what cholesterol is, and what is LDL, and what actually causes heart attack. More and more med journals and research are showing that the link of cholesterol and heart disease is weak, if there are even relationships. As I had said, blaming cholesterol for heart disease is like blaming ambulance for causing accidents. Thanks for sharing good info https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30198808/ https://www.nursingtimes.net/news/research-...ase-20-06-2016/ https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/...20314120702.htm You *might* have a heart attack if you have high LDL, but you WILL have heart disease if you eat lots of inflammatory foods, because that is how atherosclerosis happens. |

QUOTE(river.sand @ Sep 29 2022, 05:38 PM) 8.1 is total cholesterol? I took Hypocol red yeast 2 capsules daily for few years already, is this still within range? 5 years back blood test got 7.5 something then start taking, last year also dropped to 5.x something but I'm continue taking...Mine was 7.0 last year. Since then I took red yeast rice (capsules) and in this year also started to consume BG22 oat bran (powder). In the last medical check-up, total cholesterol level dropped to 5.5. You may want to consider some extreme diets like keto diet... Caution: Too much red yeast rice can be bad for your liver. |

Then I'll try reduce 1 capsule per day, next year blood test see result first before reducing further... |

A bad habit for many Malaysians is buying cheap food for meals instead of cooking at home. Eating out is really unhealthy and I've got relatives and family friends who are in poor or subpar health for their ages because of it. Processed foods like the some fish cakes are also iffy, always have that oily layer which need to be washed off.

More and more med journals and research are showing that the link of cholesterol and heart disease is weak, if there are even relationships. As I had said, blaming cholesterol for heart disease is like blaming ambulance for causing accidents. I think the medical guidelines have changed more recently for cholesterol lowering medication and instead of narrowly looking at cholesterol or ldl levels, doctors are supposed to assess for overall risk of heart disease before those prescribing drugs. So the sciene has already pushed changes in prescribing guidelines although I don't know if Malaysian doctors are up to date.https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30198808/ https://www.nursingtimes.net/news/research-...ase-20-06-2016/ https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/...20314120702.htm You *might* have a heart attack if you have high LDL, but you WILL have heart disease if you eat lots of inflammatory foods, because that is how atherosclerosis happens. |

QUOTE(billylks @ Oct 2 2022, 11:14 AM) I don't have the printed report. The doctor just read the results from the screen (PPUM doctor). He said my LDL was rather high. The rest looked okay. How come you don't get any report? Who pays for the test should get the report.Weight 76kg height 172cm. We get full medical report that shows the test results and normal ranges for each marker. The results that aren't within the normal range would be bolded. |
