Hi, any suggestion for switch that is tactile, yet super duper silent?

Some info, currently using keychron K10 pro. Would like to change the switch.  notworthy.gif

Wow, full size keychron. There are some silent tactiles on the market now..

You can get a full aluminium 65% for slightly over 200 locally if you look hard enough.

In the mechanical keyboard world, 600-700 is hardly expensive. A GMK keycap set can already cost you that much.

But whether worth it or not, especially for an ROG when alternatives are plenty, is up to users preference.

not sure. i stopped after ws silent linear by haimu. it's the slightly less mushy than most silent linears.

these don't use silicon bottom out as most others right?

I think Gateron Zero also is a nice interesting alternative if it wasnt so exp.

if its hotswap the leaf in socket might be loose and you may try bending the switch pin a bit for it to make better contact

i havent have a switch died while using it, usually is when i fck up closing the switch properly

I have a love/hate relationship to Cherries, seems like one week I like it then the other I just can't stand it.. it's good to have other great switches to fall back on.

Recently really digging hmx yogurts for linear clack and gateron type r for tactiles.

haha i have the same mixed feelings. while i still prefer tuned cherry mx red, i like other good linears as well.

linears have improved and diversified significantly over the years. some are fine to be used without tuning, if you're not that picky. (basically, good news for beginners hehe)

no wonder you said linear clack. hmx yogurt's loud haha
*
yes many are good and cheap too, just i think way too many reiteration/recolors is going on, thats going to be confusing to many

the yogurts they are as loud as f and hits very hard, sometimes it can be too much for some setup but i like the feedback it gave.. sort of thing i want in a gaming board.

Now im typing on some mx browns that i swear was the best thing last week.. cant wait to take them off lol

reiteration/recolor taught me to become 'picky'. the good side of things is that when one is playing hard to get you can go for alternatives hehe

the more serious issue to me are those with a series of spring weights. previously i dropped ONE key switch with lighter spring by accident, into a bag of the same switch with heavier spring. since then i just label and handle this type of key switch series separately

i am a linear user. i'm almost certain that i will always be one. just like Linus Torvalds, he went back to his beloved mx blue lol
*
You tried tactiles and dislike them? I've been slowly moving towards tactile now lol

Currently has TTC Bluish White for quiet office use

Gateron Type R I didn't think I would like but they're super fun to use

Also the dreaded MX browns I think I found a good home for them in a more muted board. Previously they are abit annoying in a PC case.

I still have a meme board with keychron blue switch. Next Im going to try some domes..

*
How lightweight and modular you want it to be?

Check out Tiger Lite (Plastic = light, also not too expensive) and if you're into gaming boards upgrade it with a Venom HE TKL pcb.

Is ther an endgame keeb? idk... lol

Solder and hotswap boards do have their pros and cons, for example with solder you can do plateless, hotswap will wear out etc.

But gotta say full size hotswap mechanical keyboard under 100rm is kinda crazy. A full set of switches will usually already cost more than that.

if you're in klang valley, you can also check out mecha and mkb. i believe there are some more, but i'm not sure if they are in klang valley.

for the rest of the questions, not sure. i'm out of loops of mkb trending for a long time haha

I just buy bunch of test switches from Desk Monxter to test on my own board. They have a good selection.

most people do not care about this.

i bought 2x 110-unit yogurt from xllab. there is a sticker that provides brief switch specs on the containers. it's placed between the top cover, and the rest of the container, sticking them together (like a seal). both logos on the top and body are aligned properly. i think this is intentional, and it's a nice touch.

afaik, most vendors do not bother about this detail, with their branded containers. at least people at xllab know what they are doing with their own brand.

by the way, yogurt is nice haha
*
wow 220 pcs in total you really commit, are you building a battleship soon lol?

yeah I gotta say while not all HMX are great (and there are too many of them) Yogurts are definitely one of their keepers. That signature loud hmx clack will brighten up any dull keyboard.

i did too cherry pick some of the older hmx stuff but Yogurts has been generally great. Some old hmx has issues with overlube, lube pooling, noisy leafs, unstable due to smaller bottom housing..etc

yeah i arrived at this hobby late and remember being overwhelmed by all the switch choices. Now it's so much easier since resources are widely available, they are much cheaper to try, they now practically frankenswitch for you..
