The name of 新山 is related to the period when Sultan johore giving out surat Sungai to the Chinese merchant in Singapore.

北海comes from "Prai".

Others are well documented and quite easy to understand. Just google.

兰=Lan
卡=Ka
威=Woei

浮=Pu
咯/罗=Gok/Lo
交=Gao
怡=Yi
Damn the Chair of Pu Lo. biggrin.gif

大城堡area used to be part of Castlefield Plantation during the British colonial times .. Not sure if this is the origin of this 大城堡name.

tmn castlefield still there, but reduced to become a very very small taman only. quite hidden as well and afaik, only accessible via sg besi highway toward kl right after petron.
