Hi everyone,

I am curious whether these additives (oil and fuel) like Seaform, Mystery Oil, Redline etc. are snake oil or there is some truth to it?

Anyone using them or any recommendations? Open for suggestions

Thanks in advance.

I do not trust oil additives/treatments because, for the silly amt of money you're spending, you would hv been better off buying the highest quality premium engine oil of the correct spec in the first place.

Plus there's no guarantee oil additives (esp those with molybdenum etc that claim to reduce friction) won't wreck your clutch & f**k up your warranty.

I don't understand additives at all. The bike (or car) is designed to use regular oil. And NEVER use car engine oil additives on a bike because the clutch uses the same oil with the engine. On that note, NEVER use car engine oil on a bike.

Use Diesel grade engine oil (Rotella/Rimula or Uraina).. its JASO MA compliant.

still safer than those additives TS mentioned.

majority ppl just avoid it because some do more harm than good, some are placebo

Well , we do mist our turbocharged engines to lower combustion temperatures so we can run higher boost.

In fact, my Triumph manual specifically warns AGAINST using oil additives/treatments.

Not sure if you are referring to the same thing.

The misting could be a NOS purge valve. Or a sprayer to cool the intercooler. Both this is external so you can see the mist.

What I was referring to is water injection kit. It cools the intake charge allowing you to run either more timing or higher boost. The water injection is inside the intake so you can't see it unless you know what you are looking at.

i used seafoam before for my zx6rr. the bike was kindda hiccuping in a way. Put it on the gas tank and just ride it and it just gone. Beside seafaom or marvel mystery oil is a fuel stabilizer especially if u have an old gas inside it. I try make it a habit of using it for a couple of times. Never had anything wrong with my bike when i used it.

I wanted to try seafoam on my car after this. Just for shit and giggles.

just to note... there will be no HP increase or more power, just like my bike. It just made the bike smoother when i was having hiccups with it.

As for Liqui Moly octane booster.... i would say it worked on my kancil (JB DET engine). Pour that sucker and i went back to penang from kl with only a full tank. But then i realized that the price of that thing (was RM25 at that time), if i just pour a rm25 worth of petrol it'll be the same.

anyways... i just like to try all those things and all the things i've tried (seafoam, octane booster) seems to be working as it should.
