well, for night time, to be fair, if the area quite dark, even branded car dashcam also hard to see.

Haven't seen people offering to fix intercom.
This might need some DIY enthusiast to figure out.

Otherwise, might be better to get a new one.

Finally, my Sena went dead on me after 12 years. So out of touch with current tech and market trend. Don't want to go Sena again as the price is getting expensive for the same tech I need like 12 years ago. I just need comm with my pillion, voice navigation and phone call in the same mode. Clear sound at 150kmh is added advantages. Generic China model will do. Any suggestions?

Want to hear intercom at high speed, the safest solution for your hearing health is ear bud.

you don't need to crank the volume to dangerously high DB (with bigger speaker etc) when you use in-ear ear-bud.

In-ear ear bud also cut out nasty high frequency noises.

I got a 3.5mm adapter for my Vimoto to hook up ear bud while using mic we installed in helmet.

Precisely what I keep telling people.

If you need to crank up the coms to drown out wind noise then it's no different from having a loud helmet in the first place.

I have been using cheap china BT units (under 50) and I hear my music just fine even with ear plugs on. Just start off with a quieter helmet and your ears will thank you.

I'm using 3m1250, the yellow ones. If 1100 dont work for you then the 1250 is not going to work as it filters a few dB more.

But like I said, my rpha70 is a quiet helmet. So my cheap coms work just fine. Honestly, they could be louder but that's beside the point. But wait, don't you have the rpha70 also or someone else in the forum?

I'm using the cheap X6 (50rm on discount) and some generic no brand one for 40rm...they are already scrapping the barrel bottom for cheap helmet BT. The X6 are louder, but I can still hear both well enough for music and nav at speed with the 3m 1250s.

The important takeaway is, if your helmet gives you 110db of wind noise, you need to get the speakers over that for you to be able to hear it. And if you are cranking music to over 110db on a 2 hour ride, I can imagine the tinnitus that follows after.

Thanks for the feedback. Bite the bullet and bought Parani by Sena (lol - I know) as I will embark on a long ride this coming weekend. It basically Sena old tech cascade down to B rated brand and sell it cheap. With the same tech I do hope it should pair with my other Sena and to interchange between 3 of those.

Regarding high speed audio, I purposely excluded music form the list. I only need it to notice an incoming call so I could slow down and talk to the other side. Other than that is for a small talk with the pillion so in is not constant blast of loud audio. And it's on Schuberth, arguably the most quiet but stoopid helmet.

This is the bitch with intercom. Proprietary.

I am looking at walkie talkie with Bluetooth, and a separate PTT button to mount on handlebar.
Use it with any intercom that can mix audio from multiple sources (e.g. Vimoto, Cardo, Sena)

Then we are no longer bound by need to have same brand of intercom to talk to each other, except with pillion, still prefer same brand so no need PTT.

That's the best solution. Also the greatest range.

I have 3 sets of these adapters on my shelf.
The enclosed earpiece is shit. Throw it away. Can't work properly in normal condition, not to mention under helmet.

Too troublesome to pair this pair that.

The bluetooth walkie talkie I am eyeing is this, price came down from RMB900 to below RMB500 now.
Can search for model UV78 and new model UV79

Dear Sifus,

WTA :

Currently I'm using Cardo Packtalk Special Edition, I want to buy one intercom for my wife as well but Cardo is too expensive. May I know if there are other affordable brand that my cardo can connect with?

We just want to talk to each other while riding on the road.

Thank you in advance.

First, I assume Cardo is able to connect to 3rd party headset / intercom. The last I read some 3-4 years ago, it can. Do read up yourself to confirm.

Secondly, get a cheap intercom that is friendly to connect to other intercom. Maxto is on my list for this. Cheap Maxto M2 or M2C will do.

When connected between 2 different brands, it's usually 1:1 only.

Cardo packtalk have bluetooth bridge which can connect any bluetooth intercom headset. You can even add her into the DMC bridge.

Just bought another cheap Chinese BT for test. This is a Tnicer T6 unit that's sold on shopee. Was on sale so paid just under 50. Shipping took a while from china.

Good volume. Running about 60% without earplugs. Not tested with earplugs but probably loud enough. Sound quality definately not audiophile level but good low to mid range response. Highs weak. For 50bux, I ain't complaining too much. Battery is supposedly a 1000mah unit so should last quite long. Big buttons easy on gloves hands. Has LCD display for battery percentage.

The only bugbear is the USB C socket is burried deep inside the unit so regular USB cable might not fit so have to use the included USB C cable.

Perhaps give a shot if your BT is not loud enough.

Btw, those complaining BT not loud enough, please check if where you mounted the speakers align with your ears. I reinstalled one older BT in another helmet which is loud but suddenly gotten soft...as it turns out it was misaligned.
