Hi, for 2019 Myvi, according to user's manual, need to use 185/55/r15 tyre size. But when I go to the tyre shop, the mechanic would sometimes recommend me to fit with 195/55/r15 tyre if 185 is not available.

Any issue if we use wider tyre ?

Mostly comfort drive, would like to keep the cabin as quiet as possible from road noise during high speed, once in a while spirited drive.

Thanks for the reference, diameters are nice 0%.

Have you tried prime 3? If yes, how much improvement the Prime 4 had over its predecessor?

I've tried Prime 3, it was a lousy tire on wet roads.

So much I'm blacklisting this particular range from my tire wishlist

i banana... just recognize the sketches... what issit you wanna say?

within +1 -1 you can't feel any different... some cars even have 3 rim and tyre sizes on the sticker... eg 17/18/19"

any bigger tyre guy probably tell you not to do it... anything smaller your car look silly...

anyways best you tell us you wanna upgrade from what size to what size... ppl here can tell you ok or not...

all these king pin and scrub radius you asking are very technical/theoretical but in real world application if the changes are within the norms you will not encounter any problem

th aks bro. just check with see & see. lppl have to stick  with ori sizes. knnccb...theses  mercsand bmw like to give odd sizes!

There are reason for odd sizes as to increase the traction and high speed/cornering stability.
Most RWD cars & performance rides does got wider size for the driving wheels

My fathers BMW e90 320d is a good sample (Original FR 225/45/R17, Rear 255/40/R17), changes 1 time same 225/45/R17 for all tires after that regretted.
Why? -> Driving dynamics really felt weird and sway a lot in the rear when picking up or enter corner fast, especially rainy days even felt more worse.
Only good is fuel consumption might be better a bit as it is lighter.

Unless you drive very slow (Which i doubt for most continental drivers) there are reason why the engineers put in the odd tire size at first.

you probably used back the same rim?... yes it can fit but the profile/stance changed quite a bit... to do a square setup "properly" you need same sized rims as the front and spacers...

You changed aftermarket rims also wont be perfect if you add in spacers unless original rims from BMW.
Personally for Continentals stick to original setup is the best. Once you mod, never ending stories, later upgrade this rim, that rim, change tire size in the end most revert back original sport rim/tire size still the best.

rim/spacer will try to get you close to the original handling/feel but we know for sure its not perfect... it will give you better matching slip angle/sidewall movements and rear stability... anyways just saying

the only changes i'd do is runflats to normal... wink.gif

i silly one becos reduce rim and reduce tyre profile.
replace rim 5mm negative offset, now confirm very positive scrub.
turn steer movement became untidy. unlike ori

without details hard to know if can or not how best to salvage... obviously you know already handling is subpar only you can tell if its gonna be dangerous or not... really if you are uncertain and its bothering you non stop then maybe best is to revert to original for peace of mind least one ends up in longkang in a rainy night... i stay in subang and almost every time it rains, someone will end up in the ditch or turn turtle near the federal highway turning, im sure its all tyre related...

exactly. when cornering, even when slow, can tend to tailspin

From my experience, Yokohama are very noisy tyres.

Dunlops are quieter but learn from my mistake. I went for the cheapest deal on Shopee and installed at their Shah Alam shop. Yes, they are cheaper than normal but the rubbers are very old/stiff (probably kept for a long time). They do not have the shine of new tyres, and sure enough, one of the tyres burst within a few months after a slight scrape with a cement curb.
