QUOTE(zeng @ May 31 2024, 10:55 AM) By shallow you mean tread depth when new is lesser than 6 mm or 1/4"? never want to alignment/ balancing/ whatever. i diy replace to mc5 and run for 42k nowMy XM2 was measured new at 6 mm by ruler. Actual may be 1/4" meaning 6.35 mm. With this I get 115K km +- per pair with a residual tread depth of slightly higher than (the mandatory) 1.6 mm, i.e 2-2.x mm. Just imagine, a GY street tyre in 1980s can get repeatedly 60-65K km life span (in a Saga then) -probably with alignment numbers meant for minimum tyre wear as part of the equation. Tyre technology over the past 40 years have improved by leaps and bounds, be it rubber material technology or tread patttern design or manufacturing technology etc. IME current generation street tyre life of say, 45K km or below (at a residual tread depth of 1.6mm) is unacceptable and it is unlikely to be attributed to tyre brand/model etc. Of course others' experience or encounters may differs, more so with prevalent adoption and acceptance of fear mongering of tyre safety/replacement at residual tread depth well higher than 1.6 mm. However despite modern day computer or 'automation', the practice of wheel alignment and its skill and finishing has gone down the drain or longkang! mc5 still got 50% flower. zeng liked this post

Hi thx for your detailed and some technical sharing aspects there.
Perhaps you may try and get a pair of GY ATM2 and try it out My personal experience changed on 2019, then shortly after was Covid19 . Rarely drive around during CV19 (2020/21/22) , and often keep my tyre air in check. Used this tyre + -clocked about 40K km ish daily driven (from early 2023 to 2024 ) about 1year half. ( usually short distances ) attached is my current tyre flower example as of may2024. *gonna chg tyre soon, most likey Michelin XM2+ for a peace of mind but was wondering how MaxGuard owners review and experiences will differ further . My hse have another Civic hybrid, the flower pattern tread mm is thicker and get more mileages. ![]() QUOTE(zeng @ May 31 2024, 10:55 AM) By shallow you mean tread depth when new is lesser than 6 mm or 1/4"? Can please recommend tyre for bezza 2017? Using ori rim.
Been changing tyre from Perodua service center. Now it's time to change again, wonder is there any better option? Just budget tyre below RM250. Hopefully relatively safe, fuel efficient, quiet .. not really into speed/performance |

I'm using good year from Perodua, forgot the model Based on reviews, it is a bit noisy too. Personally I prefer Michelin XM2+ as it is the best tire out of the 3, & also has a 6 year manufacturer warranty |

Hi all,
looking for tyre recommendations for Gen 3 Myvi. I understand the tyre size should be 185/55 R15 but 195/55 R15 should fit as well. Also, the current tyres have some unusual thread wearing where only the outer edge of the tyres are worn out. This happens only in the front tyres. What could be the cause of this? |

Your front wheel alignment requires adjustment IF the shop is good enough to do it. No, it's not about tyre brand or model. This post has been edited by zeng: Jun 8 2024, 08:05 PM amscouzach57 liked this post

QUOTE(spreeeee @ Jun 10 2024, 10:20 AM) what would be real recommendation to do alignment? read thru many articles.. too many different answers send it per 10k km for rotation, balancing, and alignment at most rm60+ per all. This will prolong the tyre life by rotation practice, especially if u use Michelin tyre. For workshop/ tyre shop, I choose those with good google rating review |
