what i heard earlier, Xperia 1 IV HK flash SEA firmware.. both are usable.. even in FB group there is someone shared before.. but not for xperia 1 II/III as Sony malaysia didnt certify with SIRIM (i guess) to market as 5G device.. but from IV series, all are 5G approved devices.. same as 1 V now..

Made the jump from the Pixel bandwagon after 7 years and decide to give the Xperia 1 V a go.

One thing I really appreciate is the manual controls for shutter and manual settings. Long exposure shots and portrait shots with the 85mm lens are going to be fun with this phone.

Different approach between both. One is AI photo & powerful photo processing while another one is remain camera processing approach..

RM5399 for 256GB. I wouldn't say its cheaper because you won't get local warranty from Sony and you also won't be getting the free headphones. Unfortunately, I really like the Silver and Sony MSIA has no plans to bring them in.

Ship from HK @ https://shopee.com.my/Sony-Xperia-1-V-XQ-DQ...0f-46067ce45117
Shop at Shamelin but need to check his stock @ https://shopee.com.my/product/139775323/18589892691

Sorry I did not try the HK firmware as all as the 1st thing I did upon getting my phone was to flash it to SEA. Very simple & straightforward.

Sony promises 2 OS updates+3 year security update.

Honestly, security update > OS update. If it is not broken, don't fix it.

Remember, this phone is tailored for those who are serious into mobile photoshoot and videography, not your typical flagship phone.

If 3 years security update, its ok then.

No worries. I am into the photography. N planning to travel as well. Lazy to bring my dslr with. But just wondering, with this kind of price, shud i get the mirrorless instead of a phone.

If you are lazy to bring your DSLR, what makes you think you won't be lazy to bring out a mirrorless camera?

Is it the weight or the size or you just don't wanna carry around an extra item other than your essentials (phone, wallet, car keys)?

Also not to mention with a mirrorless camera, depending on whether you are travelling or the type of photography you do, you may want to carry other specialty lenses as the standard zoom usually does not gather enough light/does not give bokehliciousness (big aperture prime lenses) nor can it provide a super wide view (UWA). Also other items such as extra batteries is recomended for travels too.

For me as I had the same dilemma I went for a flagship phone instead as I know I take lots of pictures every single day and the phone is always with me. I also have a Fuji mirrorless camera but only use it sparingly for certain ocassions like travel or special events.

Same here. For any quick shooting, the phone gets the job done.

Some samples with Xperia 1 III, RAW format, minor brightness adjustment.

If you are traveling, and into photography, a DSLR or mirrorless is always an essential tool to bring with due to bigger sensor and interchangeable lens.
You could, bring a point-and-shoot camera with you, but honestly, Xperia 1 V can be used for that, not to mention it can play music while doing visual catching (photography or videography) to get into that mood.

I'm planning to travel light. So bringing all the gear would be troublesome for me. I guess, I'm sold.

Currently I am outstation, not sure I'm able to grab the promo or not.

Seems like the photo with the mkiii looks nice.
