No advantages except for its FSB1333 proc compared to Q6600. Q9300 has lower multiplier of 7.5x max, and less cache of 2MB, same TDP for both.

Ok, thanks for the clarification over there. Then, mind me asking another nooby question. What does FSB1333 have in advantage over the lower ones?

In that case, IF the price for the Q6600 would drop when the Q9300 was launched, wouldnt the Q6600 still be a good buy?

Now, just when i am looking into C2Q, these prices come out.Hmm..I should wait a while longer i guess..

Time to save up for these new babies. Mind me asking, what does the Q9300 have in advantage over the Q6600?

Q6660 can be faster due to the extra 2MB cache, but its 45nm vs 65nm, so still hard to justify. No one knows for sure until products are released. Just that with 7.5x, you will need even higher FSB to reach high speed compared to Q6600's 9x. Need 600FSB to reach 4.5Ghz for Q9300.

By the look at the price after conversion, it should be roughly around RM900+. Now, thats a nice price..

With the Q6600 now in the same price range, when the Q9300 arrives, its should be dropping hard..I will have a tough time making a decision by than.. rclxub.gif

Depends on when you want to upgrade. Cause by the time Q9XXX released, its January and Q6600 price would have already dropped as well. Expect more graphic card models to be released during winter.

If mid range user, wouldn't it be better to get a higher clocked dual core instead of slower quad core? You're unlikely to max out four cores also.

Really no reason to get amd with such prices.

Newer games will utilize more cores like Crysis. So having a quad core do has it advantageous, and it's more future proof as well.

Well, there is actually. AMD low end ones are still relatively cheap and worthy..

You are orang kaya mah....

But any upgrade would prolly cost 2.5K for a decent mobo/ddr3 to go with the Q9XXX series anyway... maybe Q6600+P35 mobo can last me another, 12 months at most before itchy fingers again.

I so lazy to browse back, but does the Q9xxx a native quadcore?
anyway, we not yet know, whether the 1st batch of 45nm is that mature or not

Not yet. They like to play catch with AMD. I think maybe after the native triple core AMD comes out than we will see native quad core Intel. smile.gif i will wait until quad core becomes standard than i buy one. Rm900 still expensive for me, wait until the price comes down to lower rm600. I need to wait half a year, but its ok. thumbup.gif
