QUOTE(mazannor81 @ Dec 29 2023, 09:00 AM) How much difference to GRS? I would say go and test drive yourself will make better judgement, I don't think GRS will differ a lot than the base spec, but what I did was I rent from Socar before so that one was base spec, acceleration wise, its quiet and smooth and you wont feel its loud, the only cons is you will hear engine running when its idle, hybrid on the other hand, when its cruising low speed, its really quiet, you wont enjoy any ICE cars anymore, after you sit Hybrid, based on my own experience, owning a Myvi and then moving to TCCH. And it's not a pleasant place to be when the battery is recharging or depleted so pros and cons.

With the small battery, there will be lots of battery depletion and charging if going for lots of City drive. I heard same with City and HRV. Only Civic and CRV using 2.0 engine makes little noise when charging but the price increase over non-hybrid are really wide over these cars.

TCC hybrid really meant for city driving la, it's not aerodynamic like Prius, so when travelling at highway, the fuel consumption will be higher than a 3rd gen Prius. After driving the TCC, I wonder how Prius can get 1000+km per tank, my TCC 600+km mix city/highway drive already consider good liao. Highway cruising macam my BRV more efficient than TCC Hybrid. Maybe I need to learn how to drive TCCH. I normally use the pulse and glide (especially going downslope) on highways. This post has been edited by AbbyCom: Jan 6 2024, 11:25 PM

The Prius C that was sold here also had the same size fuel tank and its range was also 600-700km. Don’t go and compare to the full size Prius with a 47L tank.

Prius is more aerodynamic shaped and different car segment, meanwhile TCCH is almost box shaped not aerodynamically shaped. And I think TCCH weighs more than Prius.

And I think TCCH weighs more than Prius. Slightly more only 1345kg vs 1405kg. But like someone corrected me, it's more to do with the fuel tank capacity. Aerodynamics (Coefficient of Drag) & weight play a role, but not as significant as the fuel tank capacity. This post has been edited by AbbyCom: Jan 7 2024, 04:07 PM

So of course when cruising using petrol engine, TCCH are so much less efficient and underpower vs BRV. No matter how u learn to drive TCCH, the weight and engine power difference at highway cannot compare.

Nevertheless, it appears that these 2 upgrades (revised front bonnet and electronic parking brake) are the "major" change? After I test drove the Corolla Cross hybrid, Cross non-hybrid and Corolla sedan with the intention of purchase, I felt that the 1.8 litre engine although adequate for normal use is the Achille's heel of the vehicle, in my opinion. Initially I tried the Cross in city roads at low to moderate speeds and felt that the acceleration power was fine. I then tested the Corolla sedan at another Toyota showroom thinking it will show a more powerful acceleration than the Cross but shockingly found the opposite to be true. The test drive route is different as it's on a clear highway on Sunday so I managed to do quick pedal to metal sprint unlike the Cross where it's city roads packed with vehicles mostly crawling at low speeds. The Corolla sedan felt underpowered to me with lethargic acceleration. Perhaps it's the CVT or something else giving the feeling of slow acceleration I'm not sure but I was unconvinced after testing the sedan so I reassessed my priorities. Believe it or not or you may laugh all you want but I actually feel the Nissan Almera 1.0 turbo to be more responsive with better burst of power at low to mid end speed, and I eventually settled with one after the Kuro black version was recently launched. However, I will still need to get another vehicle sometime next year and apart from this new and fresh Corolla Cross, there is no other alternative in the price range of RM100k to 140k that interest me. It's unfortunate (or perhaps a blessing depending on how people would interpret the situation) that the Corolla Cross and sedan are not given a more powerful engine, say 1.5 turbo or something along those lines. If NA minimum 2.0 for a satisfactory performance. Anyway it all depends on the expectations of the individual. For people who are upgrading from a less powerful car the 1.8 would be satisfactory but people who have been exposed to more powerful cars may find the 1.8 underpowered. Nice exterior, don't need to hide. Edit : after watching the vehicle on YouTube, I changed my mind. It doesn't look too good. This post has been edited by SportyHandling: Feb 10 2024, 08:48 PM

Agreed with your finding of the 1.8 engine, that's what I feel when test drove Corolla Altis 1.8, almost bought it but after driving feel uninspiring when pedal more, it's like stubborn to get up... Then test drove the previous gen 2.0 used car, wow the torque was responsive when ask for it, doesn't have that kind of stubborn feel, the rest is history.

Yes, your description is exactly the same as my thoughts after I tested the Corolla sedan GR Sport 1.8. I've gone to YouTube to look at the new Corolla Cross 2024 and changed my mind. It actually doesn't look too good. The current GR Sport version of the Cross looks best to me. This post has been edited by SportyHandling: Feb 10 2024, 08:51 PM
