kimlaw great writeup
Im actually thinking about the cross vs the HRV with the big push back against the HRV being the smaller boot space
But bad thing about the Cross is no spare tyre
I know some ppl say spare tyre is not important but i have changed spare tyres many times before due to unexpected puncture
How usable is the cross boot space
When do you normally pump petrol. How much petrol is left when the warning light appeared
If the Cross had bigger petrol tank say at 45 litres, it will be much better so ppl won't get range anxiety
Corolla Cross does have spare tire. It's not full sized spare though.
600+km range is good enough in my opinion.
One thing I like less about the HRV is that the Blind Spot Monitoring is better on the Corolla Cross.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5332936perhaps you can refer to this linked thread, many discussion regarding hybrid
to me getting hybrid over non hybrid version, the "worth it" part is more towards the extra equipment you get, rather than fuel saving lah, especially if your use case scenario involves a lot of highway travel.
Here's another way to look at it. Non hybrid is 7L/100km. Hybrid is 4.5L/100km. For every 100km you save 2.5L of fuel. If you keep the car for 250,000km, that is 2500 x 2.5L = 6250 L. @ RM2.20 / L that is RM13,750 of savings over the lifetime of the car.
Hybrid battery SA says 7-8k to replace right now. So that nets RM5,750 - RM6,750. of savings if you replace the hybrid battery out of warranty once. V spec is RM134,429 now. Hybrid is RM139,991. So the difference is RM5,562, which means the V spec and hybrid is essentially the same cost to run over 250,000km. You get minor upgrades with the Hybrid such as the larger touch screen and quieter engine operation etc. But hybrid means that 3rd party mechanics most likely will have no idea how to fix the car.
So it's just preference really. I liked the hybrid a lot because much quieter when driving at low speeds and excellent for stop & go traffic. I was going to only service at dealership and I keep my cars for a very long time (I maintain them and run them until they're done) so the downsides of hybrid didn't matter to me.
