For all-in efficiency purposes, I would recommend a M1 based Macbook Pro, but it will be >4k budget

If you can wait a few weeks, go for a brand name 12th Gen Intel i7 with 16GB RAM

If can't wait, then 11th Gen i7 with 16GB will also do fine

actually sekadar student, no need any jet engine level laptop.
your lecturer won't give you to render Level 5 BIM etc. biasa autocad few lines and solidwork few part drawings.

any laptop with SSD + 8 GB ram you are good to go.

if you need "engineer" level laptop under MYR 4k, not and never possible.

For student, any laptop with 16gb ram, with decent amount of storage and ok ok CPU can already. If they do cadwork also usually not very large projects. If they do rendering also not complicated parts. Heaviest thing they can run is either FEA on small part or fluid flow simulation.

But if work I still prefer desktop. No need kena pegang bola when want to do upgrades or repair. Nothing soldered down.

Quadro GPU and geforce is essentially the same chip with 2 distinct differences. The firmware and the memory. Firmware is developed for accuracy and reliability which is also why the quadro cards also usually have ECC RAM. I do a lot of GPU processing in my work and I have 2 machines. One with geforce and the other with quadro. I have never had the quadro crash midway through processing but the geforce has crashed 3 times to date.

Acer's design and materials has actually improved quite a lot, you can give them some chance. thumbsup.gif

Their laptops like Nitro and Predator series are great for engineering student. They're pretty good for CAD software and other minimum requirements.

Unker out of touch with laptops model now.

I think preferably want long lasting battery. But those lighter laptops usually smaller screen a bit, can't have cake and eat it too.

Also nowadays laptops all jalat like phones cannot open change battery and add RAM etc...all sealed...kanasai.

just get a PD 100W power bank for laptop la.. apa susah..

Ya honestly I agree. Acer to me these days is like what Asus used to be for me in the old days. Quality go down, switch to a better one. That's Acer for me now. The better one.
