Still looking for laptop...i noticed a lot of models also has soldered on RAM now....RAM rosak how? Can throw away laptop?

Ram rarely rosak. The keyboard, lcd, hinges, mobo will go first.
They soldered the ram so that it could be made thinner and slimmer.

Downside of soldered on ram is that you're limited in the amount you could add, which is none.
Take a look at thinkpad, some still have ram socket.

For engineering, a good processor is important. Graphic card is optional. With that modest budget, I would look for Lenovo Thinkpad series, maybe E or L series. Getting a T series would be better but since last year, prices of lenovo laptops have been rising.

I dunno mang. Not versed in nitro.
A lot of laptops now come soldered. Non removable battery, no removable flaps for parts upgrade. Just to make it as thin as light as possible.

Thin = flimsy. Most of it anyway.

Yeah, was browsing Lenovo website last night until fall asleep Liao.

One criteria I am looking at is lightweight model around 1.3kg model. No point having a 2.xx kg beast + adapter to lug around. Charger if use USB PD can also work with phone? Then less chargers to lug around!

Any recommended models for light and thin with 16GB RAM? I found a few but most are 8GB RAM only.

Lol their ads kept on poping my feeds so I have considered buying them should I wanted a laptop. But then read several FB post and even here in LYN about how shitty their CS is I just blacklist the brand altogether. Bought JADE Helios 300 instead

the 6000 series going to be delayed with inflated prices, better to stick to r7 5800u if you're buying soon

here's something i'd go for, decent brand name for a workhorse, customisable, meets your budget

Didnt you say your budget was below 4K?
Its good, but this one has no room to upgrade your RAM. It also has very small battery capacity. I would agree with h@ksam suggestion though. Very good value. Only drawback is the 5 weeks delivery period.

Thanks man.

How come i don't see the link to customize laptops at lenovo. Click click here and there also cannot get to the link above.

The specs and weight seems fine. It says 1.64kg, although i am hoping for 1.3kg.

Anyway, i notice it says "Out of Stock" for the E14-Gen 3 model at the product page.

Unker out of touch with laptops model now.

Budget RM4K.

I think preferably want long lasting battery. But those lighter laptops usually smaller screen a bit, can't have cake and eat it too.

Also nowadays laptops all jalat like phones cannot open change battery and add RAM etc...all sealed...kanasai.

I like HP and Lenovo brand.

Requirements:
1. 6/12 cores/threads minimum, preferably 8/16
2. 8GB RAM minimum
3. 512GB NVME
4. Light

GPU important for Engineering student?  hmm.gif What they use? AutoCAD? Unker not Engineer.

for engineering student huh? so, get an i5 or ryzen 5 processor, 8gb or 16gb ram, with graphic card will do.

since budget is 4k... can consider gtx type. rtx graphic card... not sure ya. of course lah, rtx is much better.
about harddisk... 256 or 512gb enough liao. see your budget one. you can store the data in external harddisk surely 512gb is better

dun expect a light laptop when you want performance. you must be new to laptop...

anything want to ask again, quote me ya
