that would be additional 1.06% increase... hmm welp... still ok since doesn't have much difference. Traffic-wise, can draw from socmed & its free instead of closed eco-system that kena charge & cost seeping into profit making it hard to maintain competitive price.

The only thing to monitor is the sneaky overweight shipping charge adjustment if using the platform's logi. seller beware.

lazada win the long game.

shopee just do not have enough infra and backers to fight lazada.

now sea limited shares going to drain due to no foreseeable profit, want charge higher fee to consumer/seller ended up losing market share.

GG endless cancer cycle.

big mistake to be listed. big mistake to strike on long term logistic and distribution deals with the likes of pos singapore, pos malaysia, ninjavan and j&t in which resulted its major cost and weakness value segment become too static/uncontrollable as well as unable to innovate through technologies. Big capital can only be splashed to get market share instead of innovation.

board of directors are all too young with only successful experiences from garena
- long stroke of good luck & circumstances and seamoney
- unethical money grabbing practice of from addicted young gamers.

tencent distancing is a red big flag. if shopee continue to go down, the company will be gg soon.
*
Biggest mistake is not buying a logistic company.Compare to china Cainiao. Both should build or buy a logistic company and rebrand and expend it.
If shope wants to regain , they must tackle in shipping first.
Every few months see laz or shope on news logistic Protest , Throw item , Open the packages/steal items and etc.

As buyer/seller , no shipping = failure or shipping with no protection = failure.I think every seller/buyer here experience , packages missing/stolen , late delivery , product return on poor delivery damage and etc.

Most of my groceries are cheaper at Shopee, even with Lazada having sales. If buy from Shopee Supermarket that is.

Others, like toilet roll, the same Official Store, Shopee one sell cheaper. +Lazada one no free shipping cos it's Lazada Mall seller.

Lazada, certain smartphone or IT brands cheaper during sales.
Otherwise, like the other forumer said, Shopee punya cheaper.
*
Depends , but how do you count by cheaper ?
With voucher and sales or without voucher ? Sometimes you need to check both before buying.
Everyday certain groceries got flash sales on laz and shope , you need to check everyday. It's hard to keep up on both.

Sometimes non Official Store is cheaper. You don't need to buy at Official store.
Toilet roll both the same price.
Shope isn't much better where seller didn't join 10% cashback.

I use both Laz and sopee. Buy whichever offer less for the same product. So far, mostly sopee win because of the free shipping voucher.

New user ? Old user only have 2 free shipping.

QUOTE(sp6068 @ Jan 7 2022, 03:37 PM)
Grocery items shopee still cheaper. Lazada idk why the price is much higher padahal it's from the same store

Then need to compare on both platform charge on commission and campaign.

QUOTE(daijoubu @ Jan 7 2022, 03:57 PM)
Both have their strengths

Lazada best for event sales, especially for large value item.
Shopee best for small value item especially during coinsback hours, can sometime get 30-90% off in equivalent coinsback.

Shope coin very confusing. You need to pay full amount and cashback to you but you have to continue buying with voucher to get a cheaper price then cback to you again.Continue looping until non stop.

QUOTE(ameliorate @ Jan 7 2022, 04:07 PM)
I only buy from shopee if can receive and redeem coins. Free shipping is a joke, only 1 per month or something. And now, many sellers cannot get coins anymore.

Sometimes, brick and mortar is cheaper. Aeon got CNY sale now, items are cheaper than buying online. Go figure. Who says retail is dead?
*
Wait till covid over , most will go back to retailer. Both platform is tiring , everyday check for price and promotion , play their campaign or games , you'll get tired and bored one day.

The coin looping you mentioned is to KEEP you within the site. I'm currently doing spring cleaning by utilizing ALL coins on hands. Everyday bill payment with 1500 coins max. Coins are WORTHLESS if one keeps holding it.

no wonder shopee dare to keep increasing the price. so many still have the thinking that shopee is the cheapest

if really do homework and compare (like someone above with calculations), actually nowadays shopee the most expensive

it's too bad because shopee used to be heavy competition with lzd so end up both giving competitive price. unfortunately consumers now just surrender to shopee's gimmick, end up now shopee monopolise and less price competition (in fact people happily spend more at shopee)

very surprised people willing to pay more at shopee, again i blame it on the shopee gimmick, blinding consumers

Nope. Mostly big purchase items are cheaper in lazada. With the free shipping, shopee is still better. This is not very hard to compare, don't just assume. It's a very competitive market.

While the fees are lower in lazada, free shipping is borne by the seller IINM. For low priced item, this will easily cut into profit, so free shipping from shopee is definitely necessary. High fees in shopee is not suitable for high priced items it's because of percentage. You can sell RM15-100 items and still profit even though you're paying higher fees because the cost of free shipping would cover you. If you send it yourself, it would cost more. Obviously, customer would not like this if there's no free shipping. Meanwhile, it's harder to profit on a RM1k item and above because of it's percentage. So you'd need lower percentage platform for these items, like lazada. It's just natural course of action and math.

When it comes to both online shopping platform, still prefer Shopee compared to Lazada.

Reason: There's more sellers in Shopee. Item is way cheaper compared to Lazada for certain items.

The raising TREND of sellers giving up on CBs drives me to DUMP/UTILIZE mine even faster, whatever way's possible. I'm expecting lesser chances of usage in NEAR future when the numbers of non CB sellers further increases. NO POINT of keeping more, only waiting for them to EXPIRE. At least for now, whatever was pumped into my postpaid account can LAST me 2.5yrs d. Still adding though and I'm HAPPY with it.

With free shipping voucher & sales. If Shopee, like 12/12, 1/1 sales.

Toilet roll. For the brand I use, Official Store actually cheaper on sales day compared to non Official.

user posted image
Shopee sell at RM25.90 per roll during 12/12 sales. And as you can see, got further discount some more if buy more RMxx.

Lazada, cheapest I've seen is RM26.90 few days ago, from Lazada Mall tagged seller.

For Dettol, everytime 1/1, 2/2, 3/3 the official Store at Shopee will have discount. Lazada one rare, same Official Store.

Shopee Supermarket cheaper cos have extra 5% discount for Shopee Mart member on weekends. So it's cheaper than mana2,including official store.

surprisingly i hardly ever get to use free shipping vouchers from shopee. always either out of stock or price of item too low so unable to use the free shipping voucher

on the other hand, lazada is the one i can easily get free shipping vouchers, even without minimum spend. and i noticed although price of item in shopee maybe cheaper, but because lazada can stack vouchers many vouchers together, end up cheaper. i guess because i got used to lazada system, so able to milk more from lazada. again, for me i am not trying to promote lazada. i am just surprised many buyers only strictly shop from one platform (shopee) but never bother learning another platform. indirectly that causes less competition and end up shopee gets all the last laugh because buyers still happily buy from them although other platform maybe cheaper, vice versa. i want competition to happen so consumers like us can enjoy more competitive (cheaper) price hehe

if you are familiar with lazada, during 12.12 actually you can collect platform voucher and bank voucher and free shipping and some other shop vouchers. so actually if you know how to collect the vouchers and stack appropriately, the discounts can be more than at shopee

and no need to compete because vouchers at lzd do not disappear like in shopee after collection. and i don't need to become special members of lazada or anything also (so no binding as well)

Is this significant? I actually have plans to start selling on shopee, just part time. Or should I choose Lazada?

I do own very little Alibaba shares but I don't think what I sell would even matter..it's just that since it's part time I want to choose the more popular app..

I tried & tested, it's not applicable to all sellers.

Yes, Lazada have the RM12 free shipping for some sellers but quite a number of sellers under 'Lazada Mall' tag no memang no free shipping or discount voucher. Sudah test.

Shop voucher, etc etc mostly not applicable unless spend big amount which Shopee sellers also same thing. I click on all the vouchers offered by a particular Lazada seller.

For RM12 free shipping sellers at Lazada, many items price still more expensive than Shopee seller for same exact item. If I used all the Shopee free shipping vouchers then only buy from Lazada.

The Shopee Mart member thing is free to join, just click a few button. So, in the same vein those of us who use Shopee more can also say if you know the Shopee system, can get free shipping + shop vouchers. Everything on sales day can get.

It's not so leceh like Lazada the seller suddenly flash sale , not 12/12, 1/1, etc but suddenly flash sale on non offer days.
I have the items on both Lazada & Shopee cart, can check whenever I want.

So, it depends on the item you want to buy. The items you buy Lazada cheaper, the items I buy mostly Shopee cheaper.
