i dont know u will read my post or not...
but i am answering the question and adding some information about ucsi medical school.

first of all...
it is not yet ok to study medical in ucsi, but u can study here.
the reason why i said it is not yet ok becuase not yet recognise by LAN. but the reason why ucsi medical school not yet recognise by LAN is because the first batch student is not yet graduate.
we only have four batch of student (including the coming july intake student)
so u will kno if ucsi medical is recognise by LAN in 1 to 2 years time.

but do not worry about the recognition thing...
why?
because our school Dean which is Dato Dr Roslani is the formal USM Dean and is a well known Doctor in MMA i think.
MMA= Malaysia Medical Association
and he is going to try his best to make this school recognise by LAN.

Some intro about our lecturer...
most of them are not malaysian.. only 2 are malaysian.
the not malaysian are from Myanmar, Africa, and India.
and they are not cheap lecturer.
Most of them have high qualification.
For example one of our lecturer (bio chem) he is from myanmar, but he been to oxford university and even japan university
japan university is known to be one of the good medical university.

what i kno is ucsi is cheapest private uni offering Medic (correct me if i am wrong)

any more info want to kno can leave a post.
i am a medical studnt in UCSI.

hi winnie, for pharmacy there is a chem test. however for med as far as i know there is no tests. during my interview the questions were not about studies. the interviewers didnt even take a look at the certificates that we had brought along. the dean asked us the perennial question "why do u want to be a dr", and also about our opinion on some current affairs, nothing to get worried about. the interviewers wanna know about ur personality and command of english. just be yourself and u'll be alright thumbup.gif

what time is ur interview btw? just relax and go do it with a smile biggrin.gif

excuse me, i have one question. is ucsi medicine accredited by LAN yet? i think it was not accredited before right?? anyone knows anything?

ok, so if it is not, will it be 100% sure it'll be accredited? and any medical students from ucsi herE? are the lecturers & facilities in ucsi good?
*
Hi, just to answer some of your concerns...

LAN accreditation- our medical school had been given a provisional accreditation by LAN, pending on the graduation of our 1st batch of students within 2 years time, by then we'll be able to attain full accreditation. Not to worry about whether we can be accredited or not, as jasperseng had said, we have a very capable dean who was also the former founding dean of the medical school in USM, and he and our group of lecturers will ensure that our medical education will be sufficient to help us to qualify as knowledgeable & professional doctors & also gain us the accreditation.

Lecturers- We've more than 2 Malaysian lecturers due to the addition of a few lecturers recently. And yes, the lecturers from other countries are equally as qualified, with much experience as clinicians, working with other well known universities abroad and some also having PhD qualifications. They're always willing to help, including outside lecture periods. The lecturer-student ratio is also relatively low, and I think this is where we have a little advantage compared to giant medical universities around because we get more personal attention & mentoring by them.

Facilities in the KL campus are quite sufficient, with the museums, discussion rooms and clinical skills rooms, enough to help you with your studies, which would very much be focused on your books anyway for the first two years. Just that the library still has quite limited amount of books especially for the more specific/rare topics e.g. forensic medicine.

Interview- Yeah, you'll definitely be asked some standard questions like "Why you want to become a doctor?" and you'll have to be prepared to be probed and give deeper answers than just "I want to help people & provide the best medical treatment to Malaysians, blah blah blah". No worries, it's not as scary as it seems.

Hope this helps!

Just to add a bit to what Student21 has said about the books, you will probably get the book list of recommended books from the lecturers when the course starts, though I recommend that you talk to some of the seniors about which books to buy and which to borrow and stuff. It boils down to personal preference; some of us have tons of books, and another might just have 1 or 2.

hehe, the questions arent difficult to answer, but they are mainly to gauge how you approach certain issues and also about ur personality. If memory serves me right, the Dean asked us to discuss about "unity among youths in malaysia" or smting like dat. So u see, the question is open ended and it depends on your own outlook to answer it. They are many good answers for the question, but a BAD answer would be something like, "I dont bother Datuk Roslani, Doctors just need to focus on their jobs, etc"

During my interview there were 5 who went in together, and although our answers were different, we all passed it icon_rolleyes.gif

Hopefully this puts u at ease thumbup.gif
