It depends if you have an existing plan/contract with a telco. If not, just buy outright.

Which ever can offer cheaper price of course.

For telco bundle, if you bundle in with your main line is ok but if you purposely take a new number in order to get the phone of course not worth it as you will need to pay monthly charges for the additional line.

haiyo.... there no "hard" or "easy" with telco set lerrr.
you shouldn't even sell if off when it is still contracted. why is it even considered a problem. feature and hardware-wise, it's just like any other phone.

you change phone every year kah?

usually contract is 2 year. just saying. some change phone every 6 months. some use 3-4years..thats why i give note if he plan to sell anytime soon.

and to add in, there so many case in fb saying people buy telco set used few months and lock when the owner dont pay bills.

You should.get the telco unit if,

1. You are on their existing plan
2. You dont intent to change your mobile plan in the next 2-3 years
3. You dont change your handphone in the next 2-3 years

So far so good with the iPhone 13 pro, only thing I’m not happy with is the notifications in iOS compared to android. Other than that everything else is so smooth!

No plan to resell. Past experience with previous phone that mostly becomes backup phone or just passed to relatives.

.

To all, thanks for the inputs. Now I get the idea.

go ahead and renew yor contract with the iphone device plan.
or if u plan to downgrade it to a prepaid to save up on the postpaid bills, get it from retail via installment plans.

im currently using prepaid (ever since MCO, have been wfh since then) and got my iphone via retail, it is cheaper by comparison of the TCO. retail vs (postpaid + device)

iPhone 13 Pro Max 128GB
Zerolution RM121 * 36 = RM4356
Cash RM5299, difference RM943
Retain same RM128 plan, no gain nor loss.

Watch Series 7 45mm (Aluminium, GPS+Cellular)
Zerolution RM65 * 36 = RM2340
Cash RM2349, difference RM9.
Have to sign-up for Watch plan RM18 * 36 = RM648 before SST.

Savings of RM952 will compensate the extra from RM686.88 after SST.

Total Zerolution + Watch plan = RM6696 + RM686.88 = RM7382.88
Total Cash + Watch plan = RM7648 + RM686.88 = RM8344.88
Nett difference = RM265.12 in my favour.

Immediately reduce your cash balance in exchange for immediate full ownership, or,
keep your existing cash and pay the hire-purchase using fund gained elsewhere over time.

My personal opinion, i took both the watch and device with 36 months Zerolution Contract as my logic was that i am already using this phone line for 15 years and also is going to be using it for years to come so the payment for the phone line is going to be there. Had the same thought as well at first if want to pay cash but then again, due to current situation, cash is very important as backup, so i kept the cash and went with monthly installment with zerolution. Down the road, i can anytime pay the penalty and end the contract.
