I bought an apple product from 3rd party lazada store, when I received the item, I checked it with Apple's website https://checkcoverage.apple.com/ and it shows that my device is under warranty until like august 2022

Today, I randomly check my device warranty and it suddenly shows that it has expired.

Anyone experience something like this before?

I've contacted lazada to attempt to solve the issue but still I'm wondering how a device with warranty can suddenly changed to no warranty.

THREAD SUMMARY:
My airpods pro is fake as the manufacturer is Ericsson instead of Apple (got the info once I connect it to my MBP > System Information)

Thanks to micwin1437 for pointing out

the seller who sold me fake airpods is most likely now selling again using different store, BEWARE!

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/malaysia...1545579610.html
https://www.lazada.com.my/shop/malay-official-store/

I requested refund after the 15 days, initially lazada do not entertain my request.
I reported to KPDNHEP, several days later, lazada call me and requested that I return the item to seller (they provide seller address via email)
I got full refund to my credit card approximately in 15 days

Duh. Apple is international warranty. Doesnt matter where you got it. As long as your invoice is legit, they can check in their system if the device was activated or used before

No harm calling up Apple Support. I was just on the phone with them yesterday to resolve a warranty issue.

If bought from switch/machine/sengheng lazada yes i know the invoice should be accepted.
But if bought from some 3rd party unauthorized seller, i doubt they will accept it.

Please save or screenshot the shop's online page details and send it to Apple Support. Normally Apple Support will assist as long as you purchased it with a receipt from a shop.

The store already MIA, both store & item page will result in page not found; that's why I contacted lazada to help with the case.
Well, I learnt my lesson not to buy expensive stuff from unknown seller eventhough the store got good reviews, seems like it can be faked.
My device (APP) is working fine though. It's just that I'm having some trouble getting it updated to the latest firmware which I believe is a common problem.

At least when you unbox it and check the warranty it does show until August 2022, but suddenly changed to not covered warranty.. could be system error or something...dont panic yet at least you have seen the August 2022.. but the store Mia is something to be cautious about.. check with lazada first, simultaneously check with Apple CS via Live chat.. they can help you with serial number to verify the device further..

well, cs just booked an appointment for me at switch@lowyat to check my APP firmware; cs said in their system, service & repair coverage is still upto august 2022
i didn't mention about the info in the website as it was a very noisy call from singapore, hardly able to hear each other as my condo has lousy network coverage

some website said if it's a fake airpods, i won't be able to use find my airpods; not sure how accurate this info is but i tried it and the app manage to locate the airpods unsure.gif
next year if apple release APP2 I definitely won't buy from unauthorize dealer sweat.gif

Which seller you bought from?
Can screenshot your lazada purchase?
Sealed box product will not have expire date 2 months before you connect to the device.
Most probably recycled serial number being used.
101% the APP you have purchased is fake.
Use a MacBook to check on the manufacturer whether it’s Apple or other brand before going to switch.

Beware switch will charge service fee if the item you send in is fake no matter you know or do not know whether it fake.

Please refer to the post below :
The lazada seller also disappear already….

Manufacturer should be Apple….
I do not think Ericsson manufacture AAP for Apple…

Fight for refund from lazada, and if fail, report to consumer tribunal…

Good luck…hope you can get the refund from lazada as lazada should know that the seller sells fake product or else lazada would not have unlist the seller…

Not easy for Lazada to filter the fakes one as there are too many accounts and products….

good tactic for the conman/seller to bait price conscious/ inexperienced buyer….

- buyer received item and check have warranty on Apple website
- buyer satisfied
- one week later, lazada release payment to seller
- by the time the first buyer realise it’s a fake product months later, the seller does not mind lazada closing their account as the conman can just easily register another new account again..

True that its easy for scammers to open new accounts.. Still I don't get how these fake units have valid warranty at first, then a week later say warranty not recognised??

These is only my opinion and what I think happens….
Valid warranty :
- The factory purchased one unit of the original Apple AirPods Pro
- the factory uses the original serial number from the Apple AirPods Pro on the fake AirPods pro and produce 1000 units
- the factory passed to seller to sell those fake AirPods pro on 1/1/2022
- seller manage to sell 1st unit on 7/1/2022
- 1st buyer received on 10/1/2022 and activated the warranty on 10/1/2022
- seller continue to sell the remaining units
- another buyer buy on 01/02/2022, this buyer receive the item on 03/02/2021, open the item and check warranty actually starts on 10/1/2021

Warranty not recognised :
01/04/2022, block serial number of that AAP because Apple have detected same serial number AAP being attached to so many iPhones or MacBook or iPad and that might have trigger the red flag and Apple system immediately stop the particular AAP serial number warranty.
The actual real unit might also being red flag as it might be at the factory that produce these fake AAP.

Above is only my opinion.

Please be careful buying from unauthorized sellers. If it's too good to be true then it's fake. Either buy direct from Apple or the authorized resellers.

Video below is the main reason why.

Should make a police report and send your report to lazada…this is daylight scam, cannot be tolerated at all..worse is more and more people are going for the scam without knowledge if they are not tech savvy enough…

Just want to update a bit:

I just call Lazada and according to the CS they're still investigating my report which usually take 3-5 working days so I should expect an update by next Monday.

I also call Maybank (I paid for the airpods using Maybank Visa Credit Card) and according to CS, Maybank cannot reverse the transaction for local merchant instead they advise me to resolve the issue with Lazada; report to police and tribunal tuntutan pengguna if Lazada do not cooperate.

Yes bank just pay as instructed by you, they will never reverse anything (they can’t), only party here that can help you is lazada (they should) since the scammer uses their platform to scam, and you have every evidence of the scam and proof of purchase..

I suggest wait for them to revert back and see what’s their reply, then only decide to go with the police report as your last resort

I thought paying with credit card give an advantage like paying using PayPal.
If PayPal, most of the time customer can do a chargeback through them instead of having to go through the platform.

I think PayPal now requires verification and proof from the platform before they reverse any funds, imagine if they don’t then seller/merchant will be at risk…PayPal used to be more lenient with these but that was 10+ years ago IIRC…

They could if they want, I mean you can’t stop them entirely but at least reduce as much…like detect ip to further clamp down these syndicates etc dry.gif

they make online purchase so uncomfortable now that we need to think extra hard before checking out the order..especially big purchases..

They could if they want, I mean you can’t stop them entirely but at least reduce as much…like detect ip to further clamp down these syndicates etc dry.gif

they make online purchase so uncomfortable now that we need to think extra hard before checking out the order..especially big purchases..

just scanned lazada of AAP and there are still 5 more of this seller still active....reported them and see how fast lazada will closed their account....

congrats you're right thumbup.gif
i have to play with them with caution as i might accidentally swap the real pods with the fake ones as they really look the same unlike the ones i saw in youtube videos where there are noticeable difference
haven't try switching their place yet sweat.gif

so far i think they're not going to refund me; they told me to contact the seller even when i already told them seller is not responding.
I've already submitted a report to kpdnhep, currently under investigation
not sure what can they do to help

A lot of fakes nowadays. In Sh0p33. Pro selling for RM2xx with legit serial numbers. But I checked reviews from customers, their serial numbers are likely to be same one! haha

Wow... if RM7xx for a fake, then it is really bad. Passing off as an authentic. If RM2xx I still can understand la..although still morally wrong.

I bought AAP because of its conversation boost but I haven't yet study on how to properly use it yet.

I have mild hearing loss and several youtube videos suggested that I use AAP instead of hearing aids as AAP is much more comfortable and better but the downside is its battery drain faster.

ya. Check youtube, got people who can create a brand new iphone from an old model. lol.. Makes sense, given that the new gen square shape iphones are using the same blue-prints from the old model.

not sure about battery life as I wasn't really using it much
i'm also not an audiophile plus i have mild hearing problem so my opinion on sound quality will probably not valid
but one thing for sure is it has way more hissing sound compared to my original airpod

anyway i've already returned the fake airpod as that's one of the lazada's condition to issue refund (even though i may be able to go to the place and recollect the item as someone there call me and said there is nobody claiming the parcel) rolleyes.gif

I used to think counterfeit products would be easy to spot, from spelling, shape, finishing etc

If it takes a failed firmware update then really need to be careful.

corad as you can see here, they look very similar. In my case, if you don't have the original side by side, you won't be able to tell it's fake.
Also, without the charging case, I won't be able to tell which piece is the fake one; I was very careful when I put them side by side as I scared I accidentally switch the piece biggrin.gif

I think I should head over to the return address and take the fake airpod back and then we can do a lot more testing with it biggrin.gif

Have I mention that it also support noise cancellation & transparency mode just like the real airpod pro?

I bought a RM50+ AirPods Pro from Shopeeee

The sound quality = too much bass, it makes me headache and tired (people love bass so much is it)

Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode = Not working at all, using iPhone 11 on latest firmware, I can toggle between the ANC modes and Spacial Audio, however I couldn't tell any differences, and when I remove the internal parts it is just basic parts. (sorry I teared it open)

Ear tips = I tried to change the ear tips but guess what, I broke it, the wires inside immediately torn away. And so one of the unit already can throw dustbin.

Charging case = quality is very original feel. I love fiddle the case open and close, but the words on top of the casing don't feel like Apple's product at all.

Other than that, all those sensors are just barely working.
I just say, it is RM50+ only what can I expect?

I wear it outside people might say "woah, atas" enough liao.

If it is just purely listening music without too focusing on audio quality i guess i will give it a pass.
But the microphone quality heavily depends on that unit.
For mine it sounds muddy when I am replaying the audio recording recorded from the fake AP.

The only way to ensure it's original, buy from machines switch and from a few reputable sellers such as thunder, sen q etc.

Cuz it's hard to differentiate original and fake airpods
