Jihad is the Butlerian Jihad, nothing to do with religion. They war with Omnius and the thinking machines, then banished them to one corner of the galaxy.

But why is the "Spice" necessary for interstellar travel??
*
Not sure if anyone has answered, but spice grants prescience - the ability to see into the future. The Spacing Guild navigators use spice to see potential routes in space and pick the right one. Spice granting prescience also ties into the plot of Paul being the kwisatz haderach.

Fun fact: Navigators also no longer look human because spice is a mutagenic. They're like giant fish if I remember the description from the books correctly.

lol this movie trigger so many ppl. ok movie for me, Gotta agree with Nolan it's really good CGI graphics, good soundtrack. Easy to follow storyline but abit draggy / slow in the middle.

You will enjoy the movie if u like GOT + Star Wars + LOTR.

think the director want ppl to fully feel the vastness of the dessert. macam LOTR la, show a lot walking montage + drone scene.

Political drama easy to follow je, ignore the hard to remember names and it's pretty straight forward. The characters even spell it out for the viewers. Definitely not as complicated and chi-kek as GOT.

Hardcore Dune book fans will try their best to defend this movie and praise it like god tier movie and insult others who dont enjoy it. Dude it's just a movie, u can move on in life.

God tier movie is like inception. Best sound track, best casts, and worth re-watching because u get different ending theories every time.

Those who think this is boring should watch F9 in Imax.

I love this movie so much, it was so immersive and didn't even feel like 2.5 hours went by .. wanted it to not end!

So far I watched it 5 times - 1x imax and 4x hbo max ... probably will keep watching it twice a week until Nov 21 when it leaves HBO.

If you're looking for non-stop action, Dune is not that type of movies.

It is not sci-fi like Star Wars or the new Star Trek.

I watched Dune last night.
Sound and visuals are good thumbsup.gif
Story is slow building but not boring.

Before watching this movie I have no idea what kind of movie it is.
Didn't watch any trailers, Never read any info/reviews.

The Atmos sound effects is very nice in my home theater. biggrin.gif

Yes I felt boring too, I dislikes especially those slow burning or slow motion movies, not only this, the overhyped Snyder's cut Justice League had me slept even on the opening superbly slow motion moving pace.

Probably due to Malaysian fast paced culture? Hehe. You knew how fast paced we are when we have 3x government and cabinet changes in 3 years. Meanwhile this could be good to kill time for people whom seek for slow paced relaxing time.

Snyder's cut Justice League, you found it boring? rolleyes.gif
It has a lot of action, visual effects.
The story is so much better than the first cut.

I have watched Snyder's cut a few times. It is good.
Snyder's cut brings the audience an emotional connection with Cyborg.
The first one had nothing.
