QUOTE(gashout @ May 20 2023, 08:22 AM) since you have retired, can you please share your usual monthly expenses? and if you are doing well so far? are you net positive or net negative end of every month? (all dividend+ interest+ profit - expenses) im trying to estimate my own financial health Every month, can be positive or negative. But if I don't count my budgeted major expense (mainly my kid's education for next 3-4 years), I look at yearly net worth, it's actually still positive the last few years. Anyway, I live frugally where possible.

QUOTE(gashout @ May 20 2023, 09:00 AM) so only for yourself, 1.5k enough for 1 month? generous a bit, 2k ok right? excluding splurges like holiday etc. so 24k/ yr, ok right Eh cannot lah...haha..need more than that. Ayam seekor RM20 already. If count per person, maybe RM 2.5k lah on safe side. Holidays lain kira lor...like this year blown on Japan Horiday. Ok lah, not like I go every year. Local holidays I have no interests...waste money only. Want to go, either go big or go home (literally) and watch Netflix. Yesterday blown RM1.6k because Graphic card rosak... , but these are very abnormal kind of spending. This post has been edited by CommodoreAmiga: May 20 2023, 09:06 AM

QUOTE(gashout @ May 20 2023, 09:04 AM) so agak agak berapa a month? excluding trips... those are luxuries Updated above...but I guess RM2.5k per pax is a safe calculation. And I am totally debt free (when I choose to retired, I cleared all my debts).

QUOTE(gashout @ May 20 2023, 09:09 AM) yup, ok... thanksĀ  so can plan how to plan for my fire Good luck to you bro, just count all your expenses for whole family and combine all income source. I was also scared when I did it to be honest, also will be good to do this before you jump the gun, calculate actual expenses and income for every month for say 6 months. This will helps to gi e you confidence. Even today, I made a habit to capture most my expenses via a phone app. Just shot the receipt and it will capture all the info. End of the month, export the data to Excel files and do your maths. This post has been edited by CommodoreAmiga: May 20 2023, 09:16 AM

QUOTE(gamenoob @ May 20 2023, 09:18 AM) At that rate, do you still have insurance payment? Or that purely living expenses? I know insurance meant different thing for different folks, I'm hoping to paid enough when I hit 60 and let it run on its own up till 80. Worst case, go to G hospital as earlier discussed if insurance cash balance dries up. Let's just say my insurance is taken care of. Which is why it is important to calculate based on your own situation. No two person financial expense are the same. So yeah, that doesn't covers insurance yet. But I was calculating per pax...if it is one person, the expense are higher...but if you add a few more, subsequent pax can be lower due to shared cost. Hence maybe for 1st person RM 3k to RM 3.5k is more realistic. Anyway, take my advice with a grain of salt! Do your own calculations!!!

QUOTE(Ramjade @ May 20 2023, 09:24 AM) Debt free will give ultimate peace of mind as there's no one chasing you for money. If you invest correctly, actually your investment can pay for your insurance (that's what I am planning to do). It will be my dividends who pay for my insurance and my capital won't even be touched. Exactly. Priceless. I can eat roti and drink Kopi at home. No give fcuk to anybody. Nobody's gonna chase me out of my properties. No truck to come for my car. No sohai Hamsters downline chasing me because Ponzi scheme bursted. I can meditate and achieve Nirvana. QUOTE(prophetjul @ May 20 2023, 09:37 AM) I tak suka. But my company suka pay me 40k per month for my expertise. What can i say?Ā My hobby is simple.Ā Exercise freak. Just a space in my room. And planting vege.....oh and travelling when i can, to visit my children in Aus. My hobbies needs a lot more time..learning electronics to refurbish retro computers, play piano/guitar, learn coding for retro machines (my background is coding), learn Japanese...all these needs loads of time and not simple... And also need to clear all my backlogs of videogames....muahahahaha! Where got time! Having more money is meaningless for me...to me even if you add another zero behind my current net worth, it won't change my lifestyle. I have no desires for wasteful expensive stuff. Hopefully I can achieve Nirvana soon in a couple more lifetimes. This post has been edited by CommodoreAmiga: May 20 2023, 09:43 AM

Hope you found yours and you probably have done better than me when I was your age. I see bright future ahead of you. (The real bright future, not the kind you read in news...).

QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ May 20 2023, 12:56 PM) if suddenly there is an extra 0 in my networth, my long term mean spending pattern also won't change. But sure heck I would take the opportunity to cut out 10% (ie current one now) of the new networth, divided it by 12 and forced myself to spend that amount each month. That should be fun.... oh wait, I think got movies out about forced spending already. haha. You add another zero can challenge Najib already bro...lol

QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ May 20 2023, 07:33 PM) don't worry... I think Ramjade is not using any local broker (i don't know any that offers such facility) to sell options. legally no need to declare anything as long as not bring the premium back to Malaysia Transfer a little bit each time...USD500 like that...i think won't trigger any alarms. Ramjade Minta pencerahan because i may need to do so in future....

QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ May 25 2023, 03:15 PM) in the context of whole Malaysia, T10 average salary is only around 8K rm per month. so, working backward, around 1.5 to 2 million in EPF generates T10 lifestyle without working. good enough? the scary part is T10 only 8Krm salary per month. T10 konon. But actually B40 only. 8k is peanut butter with roti. All these grading by EPF is way outdated.
