Yeap, trimming their nails will help a little.

You Nixoderm. Me tiger balm works best since I was little wink.gif

Yeah, I dunno if everyone else gets it, but my skin is like that, even cat scratch or playful bites makes my skin itchy as well...

My Iggy loves to nibble-nibble my arm everytime I put my hands/arm in the cage especially feeding time... His nibbles are really little and doesn't really hurt, but just a few seconds later, little red dots will appear and I can't stop scratching it until I have it washed...

Right after long-nailed-Luna-on-my-shoulder incident, my shoulder turned red with little-little scratches to be seen, my husband was like, "what happened to you?" I said "Luna lah, climbed onto my shoulder and left it..."

It's not about being unhygienic at all.

For Malay people, they'd call it "bisa kuku or bisa air liur binatang"...

Hydrocortisone cream/ointment can reduce inflammation. These rashes appear because their claws, the irritants in this case, trigger our immune system, release some substance to cause inflamed skin. But i don't know which drug store has this.
Your cat and iggy and luna quite playful yeah..

There are many types of ubat you can sapu, a pharmacist will be best to recommend you that.
But since prevention is better than cure, so i'm thinking of making sth like a sleeve and wear it on when i handle them.
Since inflammation is caused by widening of the blood vessel by the release of substance from our immune system, so logically, if we want the blood vessel to shrink, then we can try applying ice.
But i don't know it will work.
Beside of applying hydorcortisone cream, you can find out for cool compress. I don't know the white cream for eczema that can be obtained from clinical doctors will help, i use that very often for rashes as well, but i don't use that in this case.
Why not think of wearing sleeves or sth, then it might solve the problem.

i hand feed her hun's mix.

How come your female is thin? Is she not getting adequate food? How often you feed her and how much the portion?
If she has no appetitie to eat, hand feed her and see.
if she is voracious eater of mealworm, she can't be very thin.
Maybe she is still young?

My gliders get fatter on crickets. They've been on mealworm treats for the past few days, haven't gained much weight.

I'm not sure whether my gliders put on weigh or not, but ironically, my mealworms are the ones who put on weight and have grown significantly after much gut loading.
They are now "fat" worms. haha

When he was a baby, i started to train him every night to lie still for belly massaging.
And now, he will put up a lazy pose and the white tummy every night.

hi guys,

If your hands have allergy and itchiness, you can try this. Apply ice to the hand, the reason is when the skin surface is numb, than you will feel the itchiness lesser. I've tried it.
Well see if this works for you as well..

Hi slurpee_slushee..
Hello,
This is a cream that you can use. Namanya Betnovate Cream. I regretted a bit, because didn't buy, haha..
You can get it here in local pharmacy, eg Caring Pharmacy.
This is the detail of this cream. It's similar to hydrocortisone in the sense that both are corticosteroid.
This medicine contains two active ingredients, betamethasone valerate and chlorocresol (a preservative).

Betnovate cream is one of a group of medicines called topical steroids.

"Topical" means they are put on the skin. Topical steroids reduce the redness and itchiness of certain skin problems.

Here are the details. How it can reduce rashes and so on..
Betamethasone is a type of medicine called a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are medicines used for reducing inflammation. Inflammation of the skin happens due to the irritation of the skin, and is caused by the release of various substances that are important in the immune system. These substances cause blood vessels to widen, resulting in the irritated area becoming red, swollen, itchy and painful.

When betamethasone is applied to the skin it works by acting inside the skin cells to decrease the release of these inflammatory substances. This reduces swelling, redness and itch. Betamethasone is a potent corticosteroid that is applied to the skin to treat a wide variety of inflammatory skin diseases, such as eczema.

Nice day, slurpee_slushee...

Hun... I'm thinking of setting up a sugar glider fund... hmm.gif The main purpose is to help promote neutering... Can't think of any other reason, but I seriously wanna do something to help promote neutering and help curb excessive sugar glider breeding...

It's very hard to speak to Dr. Yeoh, but left a word and message to his assistant... She said he can't afford to offer special discounts as exotic pets meds are more costly and the surgery is more tedious on small animals... Every care and attention needs to be taken care of...
Anyway, she did say I am still free to discuss again with Dr. Yeoh IF I am able to catch him while he is not busy...

Sighhh... I dunno how else to help lar...

I advocate this idea of setting up a suggies fund, it can be for any purpose for the suggies community, which is WE OURSELVES will benefit, as well as suggies.
If every suggies owner is willing to contribute RM 20 for example, that will amount to RM 100 when 5 or 6 contributed that amount.
But as far as involving the issue of money, there must be transparency, eg we need to know where the money has gone to and the balance of the fund. A financial statement/report is needed to inform the public, yearly, the least.
And whoever has a need can make an appeal to the committee to use the fund. And we also need to appoint a treasurer as well.
Another important thing is, we need to first seek the approval and registration with the authorised government organisation. We cannot have illegal fund raising.
What are the methods of collecting fund? And ways of $$ transfer.

Hmm... Neutering funds.... Kinda hard, as like you said, they are small animals. Dogs and cats are easier as they can take general anaesthesia. Now we're looking for another way to neuter gliders, needs time though.

Don't forget to feed the crickets a source of protein like cat/dog food (The good brands only please.) Or they will end up eating each other. The Innova Evo canned dog food is not bad, tried it before, the crickets loved them and so did my dogs. biggrin.gif

Feed high calcium and vitamin c veggies too.
*
For the cat/dog food, is it the mushy meaty type, which usually are the canned ones, or the hard pellet/biscuit type?
I would like to try this. I wonder will the crickets eat the crushed and mixed with water cat/dog biscuit?
Which vege is high calcium? Do you mean vege mixed with calcium powder?
Can crushed vitamin C be sprinkled to their diet?

Jamien, I believe you will find your anticipated SG to be an imtimate companion, like Ah Pit happily stoning there on the shoulder.
After many months of relationship building with my gliders, they have become intimate with me now.
When i let them out during play time, usually at my workstation at home, i will put on a sweater.
While i work on my PC, my glider will be roving in and out of my sweater. Sometimes will perch on my shoulder. And i will also hand feed them mealworm treats and stroke them as well. Usually and mostly, they will be hanging around close and not wander off. Wearing a sweater or garment with sleeves will prevent skin allergy.
But we must be extra careful not to accidentally sit or lean our back on them.

Traveled back KL from Kelantan last night. Was a very-very long journey, almost 12 hours to be exact.

Left Kelantan at 6 pm. My suggies were still sleeping. They woke up around 10.30 pm and was restless in the pouch. Put them in a slightly bigger case (size of a shoe box)... All they want to do is come out, climbed all over the case and poking for an exit... Finally had to set up their Flexarium in the car as the journey was not ending soon. The Flexarium took up 3/4 of the back seat sweat.gif Arrived KL at 5 am this morning with all of them clambering about in the Flexarium. Once I transfer them to their cage, they were more than happy to be back in their own cage smile.gif

I'm still pretty much tired of the journey... I think they are too as I found them sleeping soundly before I left to work wink.gif

Hi,
mind to ask do suggie take cat food??
*
Even suggies may ingest cat food, there's no definite answer to giving it, but it must not be a sole diet. I think any food that are not meant for suggies is best to give sparingly.
There are claims that cat food or any other dry food, because lack of moisture, will cause renal failure/intestinal blockage. Hard prepackaged pellet can also cause lumpy jaw, infection of bacteria. This is well known fact.
These are exotics, which some may not understand and deal with it in a too casual manner.

I guess that it could be referring to 88 pets mart in SunwayMas Commercial Centre. Before i moved, i used to hang out there very frequently.
Yes, their suggies are sold RM 320 each. A few mths back, i was told that these suggies had been there for half a year, left unwanted.
Actually, when they first came, they were babies, i still remember seeing them clinging to one of the assistant shoulder.
Yes, it's a double storey shop and the ground floor department is mainly marine and fish.
and here is the location and tel.

Last night, I was doing some sewing in the room next to Iggy's when I heard him barking...

At first malas nak layan, but after a few barks, I went to hush him up...

When I enter the room, the cage door was wide open... Iggy was inside and Luna no where in sight...

Rupa-rupanya Luna has escaped and Iggy was kindda looking for her indirectly alerting me...

Immediately when I entered the room he stopped barking. Looked around the room for Luna, lucky she wasn't far, just underneath the cage rack... Persuade her with some mealworms and returned her to the cage. Patted Iggy and said thanks to him for being such a good boy wink.gif

*It was my mistake too, I forgot to lock the cage after returning Iggy inside sweat.gif *

Well done Iggy..
It's the best opportunity to escape but he remained where he was and ready to signal to you as well.

I think you will add extra care to double check before you leave after this incident.
It happened to my piggies on several occasions when i put them in the other cage.
But they didn't step out of the cage even after several hours before i realised.
They didn't escape because they DON'T WANT to escape, so comfortable here, why do i want to escape?

It seems that Iggy and Luna both have quite different personalities.
Are they in compatible age or have wide age gap?
How old are they now?

Standing on my glider's viewpoint, i would say that they won't like tofu, unless it is honey tofu.
