yeah im also getting 110kmh at 3k rpm.
but at 3krpm the sound is not that nice so it kinda hard to retain at that speed unless you press a bit more engine becomes smooth.
engine resonance is not tweaked for malaysia's 110kmph limit.

1200kg + 5 x 80kg = 1600kg
1kg for every cc!
if driving highway its ok. lot more momentum. but city driving have to keep rpm between 3-4.

traffic jam sure la..
but normal road with many junctions. 1st and 2nd gear mostly. luckily 3rd and 4th gear is so close together that the change is not that noticeable.
otherwise climbing uphill is senseless with 4th gear, 2-3k rpm. swift nicely to 3rd gear, and it flies leaving other car behind and saves me from embarrassment.
actually, with the low end torque dip, i kinda used to it now. but for those who tried it first time sure say its too underpower. with auto, just need to step on it more to change to lower gear. alot of people think having to step more means car underpower and burn more fuel, which is true if the pedal is linked directly to throttle via cable. but in newer generations car, drive by wire means linked to ECU and ECU decides which gear andor how wide to open air, and spray fuel, and for how long, till what speed and what nod.
its how we communicate with the pedal. tekan banyak tukar gear rendah, lepas sikit bila nak gear tinggi, jangan lepas untuk maintain pecutan, pedal to floor untuk maksimum pecutan.

another missconception of underpower is due to the drive by wire thingy. if when stationary, if we try revving, can notice theres about 1 second delay comparing to cable throtle. i dont know why maybe comfort tuned? and we were also used to driving by our foot always leaving something left at the pedal that gives us the impression of hidden power or not using all power which is basically torque. in campro, this low end torque is almost non existence and its proven when you stay in high gear at 2-3rpm and you try to tickle the paddle halfway and nothing happen.
time and time again i kept asking myself why proton want to have all this sports car engine, handling, and body if an average proton buyer and general public ever consider proton brand just want cheap, higher spec, mods, and good for everyday driving. and everytime kept answering myself because of lotus! lotus! lotus!
its evidently in the savvy. why would people want a car that can drive 170kmph, body soo solid, in a small car? when those people considering a small car only needed something cheap and fully utilised the space to drive to pasar. again, thats what you get when you ask sports car manufacturer to design a compact city car. so realizing it or not, proton have somehow managed to create an niche or identity of their own. kinda blurry, but you cannot deny the fact it exist.

yeah its the tcu. size of cigarette box.
but from paddle, we do not communicate directly to TCU.
paddle to ECU, along with other input such as derived engine load (climbing hill), will calculate and give output data to TCU. TCU reads from vehicle speed sensor then decide when to change. it is in TCU where fuzzy logic is, if any.
but i must say, the drop gear while on slope still exist.

weh btw ECU on modern car nowadays already come a long way.
lastime before drive by wire, dont have soo many sensors. pedal cable link to throttle, air comes in, through MAP sensor ECU calculate how much fuel to be injected in cylinder. this is on early 90s.
but nowdays got throttle position sensor, 02sensor, knock sensor, potentiometer-lah and what not. so in terms of technology, proton is not too far behind. just needed the CPS and VIM which is an add on to existing system. but VIM is just like cyclone only. cant improve that much.
in terms of auto transmission, proton cant do much because it is sourced from mitsu. but if proton can reprogram the tcu and improved over gen2, though not much, means they know what they're doing. i'll say proton is on the right track.

mine is 10-11l/100km city driving with occasion idling while waiting in the car.
on highway its 7-8l/100km. you can reset it to get more accurate reading.
anyhow these numbers are just average of every 500m. doesnt add up to real fc. just indication on how driving behavior effecting your fc.
but my own method, every rm10 can get me 43-45km city driving, 50+ on highways, which is ok for auto car irregardless cc. agree? what's myvi fc is like?

yeah.. ive givenup with autowor** when i found out its full with foreign make salesman, and automotive industry managers. most of them from opposition party too. too much time on their hand coz expat boss is not around.
there are chinese and indian in proton as top engineers and designers, and suppliers, and vendors - a true malaysian company. but still they bash because its malaysian. so who said only malay suka badmouth, jatuhkan orang and spread rumors? this type of people tidak terhad pada sesuatu kaum. the type yang bakal menjatuhkan negara.

guys, remember the idle pulley i mentioned? (or nobody was listening?)
not sure what its called.. idle pulley or tensioner or what. but its the middle pulley around your aircond belt. somebody mentioned its a spring type of some sort. i notice the moment compressor kicks in, the 'thing' moved a bit and kinda vibrate but the belt itself is steady. i suppose to minimized the load shock to engine and to absorb vibration from belt maybe? i dunno.
anyhow, this spring type is good for above reason but gave a bit of knock sound when kicks in. especially after just starting the car, and you immediately turn on the aircond before warming up.
