PROJECT B- Renovation of Toilet Areas
Topic: Countertop

With all of the plumbing routes ready, we move on to construction of bathroom countertop. Similarly, we build the formwork first, cut and place segments of rebar lengthwise within the form to give the concrete added structural integrity. Pour the concrete mixture, level it and let it dry.

Complete your installation with any finishing of countertop you preferred. Basin are also installed in place.

Topic: Waterproofing and Setting of Tiles

We apply waterproofing agent on the surface for the first step. It helps to prevent leaking of water if there is any gaps or cracks in the concrete. Ensure the surface is always clean before work so that the final outcome is levelled.
For your information, we use laser as an indication and guideline while laying tiles and apply thin set of mortar as binding agent during installation.
In today's topic, we emphasize on the initial setting of first tile, this helps to minimise wastage of tile, save cost and ensure aesthetic in the toilet tile layout. We will share more steps in future. Stay tuned. rclxms.gif

This is a very subjective question. rclxm9.gif It actually depends on your budget and the scale of works you are consider with. Approach the contractor/designer, share your thoughts and review them after having a site visit together with your reliable contractor/ designer. You may find your answer then ! 😬

After setting up the first reference point of tiling in the toilet, we then install the remaining tiles along the straight lines by applying thin set of mortar using trowel. We press the tile in place while twisting it slightly to secure it into
position and ensure each bottom of the tiles are in contact with the mortar. While laying tiles, we place tile spacers in between each of them to get even and consistent spacing and joints.rclxm9.gif

We do cut any tiles to size for the end rows next to the walls or either the floor trap location. Good workmanship is required here. thumbsup.gif

As mentioned above, you can realise that we actually put a lot of effort while dealing with the tile works around the socket outlets and the water outlets location.

After installing the all of the tiles, we allow it to cure overnight. Fill the tile joints with grout. It helps to seal the lines between the tiles and withstand most stains, expansion and contraction over a period of time. The grout can come in variation and can be a decoration purpose as well. We then wipe off the residue with a damp sponge. Wait for the grout to cure and your are nearly done! rclxms.gif

After all tiling works done, install the bathroom fixture and shower screen in place. We will post more out complete works in our next posts! icon_idea.gif

I guess it depends on the users preference. It actually depends on the theme you set for the design. Explore different possibilities and suit the way with your living lifestyle. rclxm9.gif thumbsup.gif

PROJECT C: Erection of Bungalow in Kota Kemuning

Topic: Site Preparation

In today's sharing, we will be talking about our previous project done, a residential bungalow erected from none till completion.
After getting approval from the authorities, we start the entire work from preparing hoarding along the boundary, with the intention of safety and prevention of intruder. Next, setting up the site by performing site clearance while preparing the soil condition with the mechanical shovel. Ensuring that the building ground is free of plant as the topsoil usually has little bearing strength only.
rclxm9.gif
Referring to the working drawings, contractor and workers marked up the structure points, as the setting up of the entire building. We will then start constructing foundation and so on. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

You could refer to our previous posts regarding to the construction process of erecting the columns. With the preparation of one-time used formwork, sufficient rebars and materials, construction of rc columns and ground floor slabs are crucial and required proper care and inspection from time to time. In details word, we always include certified waterproof membrane together with sufficient anti-termite protection towards the bungalow. Layering of proper soil conditions together with those details added up, it helps to reduce problems that might arise in future. bruce.gif
