8GB user here. So far so good. One feature tat I hope apple wud include in the coming firmware is to have touch to be detected as harddrive.

Don't torture it, btw I read up somewhere that apparently some iPod Touch buyers bought it and complaint to an email that was believed to be Steve Jobs, he replied!

Sender expressed dissatisfaction upon limited features unlike the old iPod does such as: Calendar that currently can only be view and no Edit Function or whatsoever, Steve Jobs claimed that it's a bug and will be fixed upon next new firmware update. Good news for you guys out there?

Yeah, the MAC OSX lite version on both the iPhone and iPod Touch are theoretically capable of adding 3rd party applications. But Steve Jobs locked the file system with the latest firmware update 1.1.1. All hope is not lost as some mac-related articles have spotted a provision of signed applications in the latest firmware too. So its a matter of time when this feature will finally be available. No promises though.

At the mean time, the only operable applications are run through Safari in the form of AJAX web applications. But I read some hacker was able to take over control of the file system by manipulating the browser TIFF exploit. This is only a short term solution since Apple can patch this in the next update. Another more longer term solution is to simply hack the file system which is already in the works.

Please refer to the following link:

I read somewhere that once the file system is hacked and taken control, you'll be able to enjoy this feature in the form of another ipod management software. This will eliminate the need to use iTunes every time you want to sync or add files from different computers.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I did not encounter that situation before nor did I realize that I had to activate via iTunes to use YouTube. That shouldn't be the reason. YouTube just works after activating your iPod Touch with iTunes. It just works out of the box.
Maybe you can try a reset? Or last resort, do a complete restore.

Let me know of your situation ya.

the fact that the Touch has wifi would definitely make it dangerous to leave it in our car isn't it? those laptop thieves would scan our car with their 'laptop scanner' and mistakenly assume the Touch is a laptop right? or the scanner actually scans something else other than the wifi? was just wondering as I have an AUX input in my car and I always leave my iPod in the glove box.

one more thing, I know there's a lot of applications out there, and I'm too lazy to try them one by one, but can anybody suggest me a good application to transfer all my songs from my iPod video to the Touch?

thanks, greatly appreciate it.

Misunderstanding here, it's flash drive not hard drive. Hope the firmware update from Apple can make the iPod touch to use Disk Storage, like thumbdrive. So you can stuff all other stuff like a thumbdrive. Currently, iPod Classic/Nano/Shuffle can do it.

Hi there, thank you for sharing. I was fortunate enough to bump into some of the Golla pouches in an electronic shops in my small hometown here in Kuantan. They're selling all of 'em with RM49 each too. They all look pretty awesome (spare the pink one tongue.gif) and i would get one too soon. But anyhow i'd still wanna skin the touch because the pouch don't really protect the touch when i bring it out biggrin.gif

but hey, i see that interesting pair of black earpiece....what brand is that?

Oh yeah people, i still havent find one good vid converter for my touch =( i'm using PSP vid 9 now but it didn't give me full screen reso on the touch and the vids crash quite often on the touch =( Any recommendations?

Not for the faint-hearted and tutorial here is directed towards Mac users on new MacIntel machines. Still early days though.
