As expected, new software on official release, sure will still have a lot of bugs. There is where update coming in.

The Windows Explorer memory draining bug was still there. If you open up multiple Windows Explorer (10+), it seem that it release out about 50% that totally taken by explorer.exe. If you open 2~3 Windows Explorer, it does free up all the memory taken when you close them but when you open over 10 Windows Explorer then you will notice that it didn't free all.

I currently installed on my old Dell Latitude 3340 and also a VM in AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (8GB RAM allocated to the virtual machine). Well on startup, my Dell Latitude 3340 run much smoother than my VM. But once my VM is running loaded all the Windows, it seem my VM is much smoother. But it seem that I might want to revert back to Windows 7 on my Dell Latitude 3340. I can restore the image I backup on my external HDD.

Haha. I plan to upgrade in the future. Afraid overkill.
*
It won't overkill. Whether do you really need that much of RAM or not. I do video editing and converting and also running VMware with 3 virtual machines (Windows 10, Windows 11 and Kali Linux) for my lab testing purposes. On gaming, 16GB and 32GB not much different.

Guys if using window 10 free, the one with the watermark on the bottom right, cannot upgrade to window 11? Bcs it says PC don't meet window 11 requirements at the window update there but I'm using a i5 8400.
If the answer is cannot, is it ok to stay on window 10, will it still be getting security updates???
*
Can upgrade. You just need to bypass TPM check. There are steps by steps tutorial available on Youtube you can follow on.

Desktop Windows 10 Support Ends October 2025

Doesn't matter. He using non-license copy (watermark on right hand bottom corner) of Windows 10. rolleyes.gif Home user usually doesn't care for support to Microsoft too. Still many using Windows 7 at home. I just recently help my dad format his Windows XP laptop and reinstall Linux on it.

Last night before sleeping it prompted me to update and shutdown whilst on windows 10 . So I did.

Suddenly today when I woke up my pc is already on windows 11 .

Has anyone experienced this ? Windows updated to 11 without my consent or making me aware of it first.
*
I got the prompt but I cancel it so it didn't upgrade. I always do clean installation, dislike to straight upgrade.

If the prompt specifically said it was going to update to windows 11 then id be fine and opt for clean installs etc .
This time it was just a usual 'windows update' on the start menu shutdown. I haven't even backed anything up . So I was shocked to get it updated like that.

Windows 11 is actually based on Windows 10 and they both are very much identical. UI minor redesigned with add-on features. All Windows 10 would get the free upgrade to Windows 11. It is why you can link your Windows 10 product key to your Microsoft Account and when you do the clean installation of Windows 11, login back to your Microsoft Account and the Windows 11 will auto activated. It is very much like Office 365, when you purchase Office 365 2019 but when Microsoft released Office 365 2021, you get auto upgraded to Office 365 2021 when Windows Update is performing the Windows Update process.

Unless you disable Windows Update.

Usually most user don't read carefully. Just click and proceed to their daily task (works or gaming). Again how many users really read the User Agreement or Service Agreement on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Windows, Microsoft, etc? Usually anything pop up, just click Yes or Agree or Next.

I have a message pop up on my Windows 10 asking me whether I wanted to upgrade to Windows 11 or not. So I can confirm there is a message.

My physical CPU's Windows 10 got the 2nd screen. My Windows 10 VM having the 1st screenshot. So I saw both screen before.

No. I'm pretty sure I just don't click yes on everything.

I swear this was the only thing I clicked. This isn't my first rodeo with Windows. I did however turn on TPM to prep for W11, but Im not sure how that would correlate to Windows updating to 11 without telling me.

You turn on TPM mean you agree to upgrade. LOL! You still can revert it back. Remember to turn off your Windows Update or turn off TPM until you ready to upgrade to Windows 11.

I don't think need security apps will work as it is not verified. The 3rd party loaded Play Store actually set profile as Pixel 5 and it is not verified. Also I install it s root device. Maybe will try no root in future if plan to resetup. Haha!

Must we do both the steps ?  Since I only want to install apk file from SSD, can I just use step 2 to sideload ?

Some APK require Google Playstore to work. So is very subjective.

Finally upgraded my desktop PC with Windows 11, always afraid of trying it out. Managed to play AOE IV on it fine and slowly enjoying the newer UI.

Welcome to the family! You upgrade or fresh installation? Double check on drivers as Windows 11 driver and Windows 10 driver slightly different. So far I did few fresh installation and all the BIOS, chipset, LAN, graphics driver have to install the Windows 11 version.

It was an upgrade, the only thing I updated after the upgrade was my Ryzen chipset drivers and Nvidia drivers. Everything else seems to run fine for the moment.

If they got newest driver, make sure you download and install them. Sometime you won't notice the problem. So far on normal usage we don't notice the problem but for gaming or graphics related, then you will start notice minor issue. Usually I don't upgrade, personally I prefer clean/fresh installation.

This is common issue for Windows OS. Due to Windows Update, software/driver installation, Windows Update and software update. By right, it should remove after the process finish running but somehow some folder was left over. Usually I will housekeep and remove them manually. Sometime scandisk process or antivirus cleaning/recovery process also creating temp files and temp folders.
