Windows 11 build 26466 is a build of Windows 11 2024 Update. It was demonstrated on a ROG Xbox Ally, showcasing the handheld gaming mode optimization. This new experience is launching first on the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X in October .. I personally think it's not meant for computers.

Here's the video;

but thats the thing.

microsoft says it's not them. phison says it's not them either.

then u got every tom d**k and harry any sort of crash issue, then they blame on this windows update supposedly affecting ssd.

take this youtuber for example (click baity not a fan haha). He has an issue, but it fixes itself when he swaps the ssd for a different ssd. Everything else remains the same.

When he swaps ssd, he uses a ssd clone to copy over the data, thats how the contents are the same. only difference is the ssd swap.

BUT EVEN THEN, i did not see him attempt to delete the windows update, and try using the bad ssd and seeing if it still has issues or not. Because after all, isn't the culprit supposedly that bad windows update? Has anyone done the test where they could get it working fine AFTER removing the supposedly bad update? wouldnt that then be proof the update is at fault? thats my question.

My own issue, i couldnt boot up my pc. reset didnt help. But what worked was doing a FULL reformat for the boot ssd drive. system was stable again. I didn't install back the windows update in question, and didn't experience any boot up issues i had before.

But thats not to say the issue couldn't be something else entirely, like maybe malware or some sort of corruption i don't know.

all i'm saying is either

1. it is microsoft windows fault for a bad update (it wouldnt be the first time), but they dont take accountability

2. it's phisons fault. they lied same like windows, nobody wants to take blame

3. everybody blaming the windows update for their issue (WHEN IT MAY BE UNRELATED and caused by other things. lets be honest). And maybe, just maybe microsoft and phison were both right that its nothing to do with the update or the ssd controller.

i'm sitting on the fence for now and waiting longer. just because they say it's not them, doesnt seem credible to me. as for randos on reddit saying its that, did they do proper testing to know for sure? lots of these people are newbs and dont know basic troubleshoot, so how on earth would they know? sweat.gif

for my ownself i removed the update and set update to pending few weeks while i wait and see. no rush sweat.gif

fyi this is my ssd a crucial p5 2tb
https://www.techpowerup.com/ssd-specs/cruci...-plus-2-tb.d108

no it doesn't use a phison controller. instead has a Micron DM02A1 controller.

still i rather be safer than sorry, seeing as i had a recent boot up and constant crashing issue which i narrowed down to something related to ssd (not necessarily the windows ssd rumor. could be something else i donno. but for me the reformat fixed the issue)

*update

the windows updates in question are

KB5063878 or KB5062660 (preview).

true, Microsoft never asked users to uninstall KB5063878 and only some other 3rd party testers .. if its Microsoft' fault then they will immediately relase another crucial update to remove or solution to overcome the problem ..

.. now the KB5063878 is actually safe smile.gif

that is what i am also saying. mass hysteria. but at the same time i dont just simply believe what either microsoft and phizon are saying either (companies lie, wouldnt be the first).

This is why i would rather wait for trusted sources doing actual tests and coming to some sort of conclusion. I trust gamers nexus. I dont think they posted any videos testing this yet, just only circulate the news. So no real conclusion them yet. Maybe that is an upcoming video.

The one that i found is Jay. He usually just cycles what other sources say without testing himself, so i wouldnt rely on him either (usually his material is just click baity).

this also reminds me of the news about 9800X3D having issues, particularly with asrock motherboards. Has a similar vibe to the windows situation as nobody knows whats causing it, whos at fault (everyones pointing the blame at others), and people just quick to say its that when it might be something else. sounds familiar? laugh.gif

my own situation with my recent ssd issue, i can clearly say i dont know if its related to the windows update or not. all i know is that a reformat solved my issue, so clearly it wasnt a hardware issue, that seemed clear.

First time update this KB5063878, mouse cursor start stuttering at home page. (Msi Claw 7 ai+)
- Immediately uninstalled the update, device smooth again like before.

Second time mistakenly update KB5063878, nothing unusual but feels like game will have slight stutter or delay. (Not sure what it is)
- Going to uninstall the update again & play offline game with it.
- Not going to turn on wifi for my handheld.

I bought an used Precision 7530 and found it has a Xeon CPU inside plus 32GB RAM. I bumped the RAM to another 32GB making a total of 64GB plus triple 2TB NVME storage.

All bought used from Carousell and boy, the performance is ultimate. W11 is smooth and zero delays.

Did the same for my T590 by bumping the RAM from 8GB to 40GB with another 32GB stick. Smoother now.

W11 need min 32GB to run lag free. 64GB even better. Virtually no lag at all.
