the reason you feel fast because the real time antimalware scanner no longer there to scan the files you have downloaded, i deal with that everyday on ancient celeron CPU, and have to turn if off every single time lol.

it's kind of intrusive, wish Microsoft could optimize the real time antimalware scanner more,
as it's very resource hog, it's one of the reason Windows 10 feels very slow on hdd drive because the scanner just keep scanning files.

one can disable the Microsoft defender but router must support build in virus scanner, Asus router does the job.
or at least use DNS over HTTPS with anti malware function, eg Cloudflare secure DNS.

What i see on my old windows 10 pc that using HDD, antimalware and sysmain service cause high disk usage

Finally forced to use W11. Decided to learn about the new taskbar and it's limitations.

Was just wandering around, since I have done most tune-up and tweaks .. executed the AOMEI Partition Wizard tool to check the health of drive. However, suddenly I found out that there is nearly 750MB of space was reserved "blankly", as it was not marked the purpose of the reserved space. I was curious and deleted the partition and merge it with the Windows 11 original partition.

I have checked another computer, also having the same partition reservation .. but never serve any purpose. We all know the System Reserved 100MB is made by Windows upon installation .. but;



After deleting and merging .. everything works fine even after reboot..



Please have your disk partition checked, for that unclaimed / unallocated space of 750MB .. the partition is still a mystery ..

As i know, is recovery partition, if windows fail to boot, it will use that to run recovery
My old win 10 pc, when install don have that, after some windows update, it auto make partition that cannot delete, about 600MB
My win 11 pc when first boot already got that

oh, if like that then its fine .. I already delete and merged it to C:\

I dont trust crappy Microsoft Restore function .. I already have master backup via Macrium Reflect (weekly basis)

Windows gotten too bloat actually, the DNA analyzer my company makes use Win10 IoT LTSC, which is very lite, less craps than standard Win10 desktop,
can boot very fast even with old skool celeron.

as i mentioned before, if Windows 10 can be installed like Linux distro, it wouldnt be so bloat and sluggish as heck.
linux always praised for being lite and fast is because it didnt install gazillion of service like wimdows that typical desktop user never needed.

which option i need turn off to prevent windows defender keep pop up notification day last scan no action taken?
Add question, anything i need to check this? Have been few time when click shutdown, yes screen show shutting down... then screen is off, but pc case LED did not turn off, game controller LED also did not turn off, even wait half hour,
Pressing keyboard any button nothing happen, so everytime happen i hold down power button
The next time on pc, event viewer show windows did not shutdown correctly

your system could be in standby state (S0-S4 and hibernate/S5)
to check the current standby state of your system type powercfg/a in command prompt.

my mini pc sometimes didnt shutdown properly also due to the sleep state enanled. to change the sleep state you can go to BIOS/EFI change it.
downside is your pc will not go to low power state due to sleep state disabled, but it will shut down correctly.

The following sleep states are available on this system:
Standby (S3)
Hibernate
Fast Startup

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

Hybrid Sleep
The hypervisor does not support this standby state.

but does not mention what state now

means you dont have low power state standby enabled,
try update your chipset driver, gpu driver and BIOS

other method you can try is clean shutdown via command line, again
enter shutdown -s -t 00 then proceed to shutdown.

My pc is HP desktop, BIOS very limited setting, later will check BIOS if remember
All BIOS chipset driver is auto from windows update,

edge question, notice recently edge still keep running at background after close, after google search seem a lot of report same issue a cross few month, even a year ago

i notice it when playing game why MSI overlay still show higher usage even i close all program, then see task manager saw edge keep running can as high as 800MB RAM



yes it does not happen before, just recently but not sure which update cause it

yes, I also disable to run backgroud thing .. and also I delete all the listed below every 2 days ..

my Edge data folder is very small and fast

some of them are cache, it's better to leave them alone
otherwise Esge will keep write to your SSD, in turn your SSD TBW will increase very fast = premature death

it's probably broken
edge indeed still running on background no matter what setting i use
