For air cond on a room, you will need a tiny gap of space to let air going out or coming in(personal choise). For me I have few window have small tiny gap that it cant close, when I open the door, air will be suck in or out. Secondly, you need to on a fan as well when the room is with air cond for better ventilation. For me i need to wash the netting every 5-7days. I make sure air is circulate well in the room.

QUOTE(shingin @ May 30 2008, 12:09 AM) 11Jan: Yea, I went with my fren on sunday and she got 2 chinchilla (1 male cinamon and 1 female black). Me... I like chinchilla but I still prefer rabbit... >< sorry to say that, chinchilla has to put a lot effort to take care, I think rabbit is a lot easier to handle. Last weekend I just adopted one rabbit from the adoption thread. Shingin, I can truely understand your friend and every pet owner will have a super temptation when you decided to buy chinchilla not just 1, but 2 in difference sex. Helena1509: I am not sure whether you are the gal that I met on sunday or not. I saw a gal who booked 1 male and 1 female chin... both are cinamon, but finally she only took the female. Is that you? If you are that gal, then I can tell you that my fren took the male chin... If can I will ask my fren to post some photo for you to see. Have fun with you new CHIN ^^ Added on May 30, 2008, 12:20 amChinchilla: Can you pls recommend my fren where to get a proper wood house for her chin? She told me that her chin cried for whole nite and one has squeezed out from the cage on the next day morning (curi curi keluar, hide behind the cage and still crying)... Then she went to pet safari and bought a 3 story high bird cage and big wooden house (for bird oso) for her chin. Finally her chins are alrite now. But now I feel a bit worried that the wood material might be poison for her chins. Can you pls advise. It is a bad bad ideal to bough male n female for the beginer, another to start WANT TO BREED THEM. Chichilla can get pregnant at 4 months age, when they get pregnant at this stage they babies and them will not be survive due to the female not fully develop to adult hood, I will suggest you quickly tell your friend to seperate them to difference cage untill they are 1 yrs old. Meantime reading is the only way to help her to understand more about the habitat and nature of chinchilla. From what you tell me about the cry of chin, chin not crying, it is normal for them is active at night time, especially mid night, and they will jumping here and there in the cage and making noise. A wooden house, you can get from Pet safari or pet wonderland, they have some imported wooden house which is 'colour' in every side of the house, that house is OK to use. just dont buy tiny hamster house and thinking your chin wont grow big, it will. Pet safari chin is only 4 week-7 weeks old(beside one standard grey is 2 months+), is tooooooo young to take out to sell, so be more watchful, PLEASE PLEASE JANGAN GATAL TANGAN TO FEED THEM TREAT, like grapes, fruits or anything else except they PLAIN pellet and timothy hay and controling feeding alfalfa hay. 3 Story high is not suitable for your chin at this moment, cut to 2 level. young chin not fully develop they sence of discernment of high, they will jump down from any platform they feel OK at that point. once accident happen, your chin's back bone will be very easily break or broken, and you can do nothing but wasted your money and sitting in front of the cage and cry. Added on May 30, 2008, 11:31 am QUOTE(11Jan @ May 29 2008, 10:50 PM) Ya, nettting that inside the AC, need to wash. Added on May 30, 2008, 11:33 am QUOTE(GMC @ May 30 2008, 01:55 AM) erm.. i got a question.. Go farmacy, any farmacy, ask then saying you want anti fungus in POWDER form, if they dont have go to another shop, you can get it there. Anyone know of a anti-fungus dust that is added to the dust bath for chinchilla to prevent fungus ? I am searching for that anti-fungus dust but i dont know where can I find.. anyone have any idea of any brand name that is good? Thanks in advance Can you show us your chin? dont be shy if your chin is really infacted with fungus, picture will tell the most easily. Added on May 30, 2008, 11:34 am QUOTE(JonYeap @ May 30 2008, 10:56 AM) pls dont go off track from chinchilla. haha... bunny is another thread. well, chinchillas, can u post all ur chinchilla pics if u got time? wanna see how many different colors u have. =.= I will try. QUOTE(shingin @ May 30 2008, 07:54 PM) Erm... I need to ask my fren woh, coz I was not with her when she bought the cage (she bought the cage herself) Chinchilla: At first I also quite worried that the female Chin will get pregnant but my fren said "Aiyaa.. you think chin so easy to get pregnant meh!" So end up I don't really think about that issue oledi. In fact I am the one who encouraged my fren to get 2 chinchillas. If your friend have levels cage, just seperate them 1st n 2nd floor, of cause you may need to modified the cage yourself a little. |

Some Chins's tail got something not right, less hair I guess... donno how to say, just feel like not right. >< too bad I am not a Chin Expert. Fungus on the feet? so fast ah... last week I see seem ok, now already got fungus ah..sigh. If the tail no hair, that is not just happen once, I think Ikano that side carry some bacteria that causing this, I always see and heard chin have this problem from there. They need to wash their cage and disinfect.Added on June 1, 2008, 9:42 pmA photo speak thousands words... ![]() This post has been edited by Chinchillas: Jun 1 2008, 09:42 PM |

QUOTE(shingin @ Jun 1 2008, 10:59 PM) Chinchilla: ohhh... the feet not so black like that... I saw the chin's feet only left a patch of hair, others all drop off (botak). Is it because of funges infection? My rabbit did encounter the same problem when I purchased from the pet shop and the vet told me that those are fungus infection. >< Rabbit and Chin might not be the same huh. Ow.... you bough this 2 chin. Jan11: As I mentioned earlier, the following are the pic of my fren's chins, that she bought a week ago from pet safari... pebble [female, black] and rocky [male, cinamon]... hope u will enjoy it. [attachmentid=486731] This is the pic that we took before my fren bought it. [attachmentid=486732] [attachmentid=486733] [attachmentid=486735] [attachmentid=486736] Chinchilla: Finally two of them are now separated, rocky is staying down stair and pebble is staying upstair. And my fren has bought the house (made from hay) to replace the bird house (made from unknown wood material)... Which one have the whole patch missing fur, can you take a picture to show me? Fungus is very easy to attack chin or any furry animal here due to our climate. If you have a rabbit near by, i suggest you place it else where or dont put in same room. Wash your hand with soap each time BEFORE you touch your chin and wash your hand with soap each time after you touch your chin. That will avoid bacteria spread. The hay house look ok to me. Your chin will love it, he will chew it down in no time... Since you using newspaper as a base for your chin, that can save some cost, but make sure each day you change it for them. Place a bit thick paper, pee can wet the whole paper very fast if your paper is to thin, it cos a big mess. Just to add a note for you, your chin is a medium Ebony and a light tan. Added on June 2, 2008, 11:11 am QUOTE(Helena1509 @ Jun 2 2008, 01:40 AM) can u take a full picture of how to cage look like?? Can i have a look of you chin? Must be lovely. i wish to take picture but i dont have a nice camera.. sigh... today i saw a mosaic in ikano... i almost want to buy it.. but think properly.. i decided not to buy it.. cos he is abt 7 month old.. and futuremore, i scare i dont have much financial support.. as i already bought one last week.. and i also scare they will mate and breed when the mother is not old enough... at this moment, i also have to find an appropriate cage for her.. i dont know mine is consider appropriate or not.. sigh~~ =_=" Well, you did the right thing not rush into buying! I can truly understand the POWER OF CHINCHILLA will surely draw your heart to buy them when you first saw them. It is a wise choise you have make, count your cost that you can only commit to certain level. GOOD! About the cage, chinchilla have many cage can be use over here, just be creative, at the same time make sure cage is save. Flat bottom cage is always the best, high level cage is also good, but not too high for young chin, thirdly is make sure is easy cleaning for you. Chin will have rocket poo every where due to their active at night, kick all the poo all over... Added on June 2, 2008, 11:16 am QUOTE(11Jan @ Jun 2 2008, 08:56 AM) Shingin, they are soooo cute!!! now you make me wanna go buy chins!! No, is it very easy to fight with fungus provided you must be very patience to treat them. Fungus build up due to humid and hot weather, expecially after rain in our country. Fungus can be treated within 2 weeks. usually once the right treatment is given, you can see great result in 1 week.Helena, i saw that mosaic too. very nice, right? i really like mosaics Chinchillas, is it hard to treat fungus on chins? Dust bath is the key to avoid fungus, for those that not putting their chin is air con room, you need to give your chin 3 times a week dust bath. Get DUST bath, NOT SAND bath. The best enviroment for chin is always, COLD, DRY, QUITE, PLACE TO HIDE. This post has been edited by Chinchillas: Jun 2 2008, 03:41 PM |

QUOTE(shingin @ Jun 3 2008, 12:31 AM) [attachmentid=487647] Feeding chin is very simple, just do whatever is suit your time frame and set on that, they love routine feed. About the timothy, soon they will start eating, continue feed them, sometime they eat but you can't see. This is the bird cage that I mentioned earlier (smaller gap and 3 stories high), RM280 (5% discount if you are member). These two small one are separated as per Chin's advise... but they still chat during nite time, long chat tiles is added... for cooling effect, sometimes during the day time... they will take a short nap on the tiles. Feeding material: Timothy hay (majority), a little bit of alfafa leaves (approx. 1 tablespoon, small grab) and 1 teaspoon of chinchilla pellet. Feed twice a day, 8am and evening (ranges from 7-9pm, depends on what time they wake up). They will stand at the gate or make some noise if they want food. However, timothy is always left behind (my chin dun really like timothy) and I have even see before they pick up the timothy from the bowl and throw it away... like a small kid like that. However, they are quiet ok with timothy if my fren hand feed them. My housemate really spend a lot of time with her chins. Rocky and Pebbles got no fungus, the one that I saw got fungus is in pet safari (lastest batch of chinchilla). Today I went there and notice that chin is missing... I think someone bought it oledi. Sometimes it is not so easy to notice, I am just so lucky to notice only. Thanks for your info... try to search for the colour name and not sure whether is tan or beige and enbony or black. Haha luckily you have given me the answer. Misai kena trim is normal, because 1 of the chin in his group want to be leader, they will trim off other's whisker to show his is the boss. Misai will grow back soon. You now should go buy a digital scale, to weight your chin once 2 weeks, write it down, this can help you to monitor your chin grow stage and health. QUOTE(shingin @ Jun 3 2008, 06:39 PM) Wow Dont trim. Trimming it wont hurt him, but he will be very unhappy with that. Usually I do it when a chin is very aggresive trimming others chin misai. Misai is they sence of direction in the dark, and balancing, if no big deal, dont trim. For digital scale, 1 Utama Jusco top floor have sell, look around there.Good Suggestion, I will get the digital scale... may be next month, this month me and my housemate broke already... any good suggestion where can I get a reasonable price one? Added on June 3, 2008, 6:44 pm From Ikano Pet Safari... Chin's fur is super super nice to touch Added on June 3, 2008, 6:47 pm Yea yea, helena can I look at your chin... I miss that little tan chin. I did know PW will have chinchilla coming in this week as they mention to me earlier. About the condition of care, I think PW so far had done minimum to care for the animals compare with a lot of pet shop. I been to Mid.V PW just 3 weeks ago, I think I have give a very basic guide line for the stuff who take care of small animals section, he do it or not, I not sure. The fur thing is due to the crowded cage and the handling of the custom, they stay in custom for 3-4 weeks before begin release to your. So the fur will look horrible lor, but surviving la. I dont know what the hack the custom feed them also, all animals is in big room.... I guess. Added on June 4, 2008, 11:27 am QUOTE(kelvin_faye @ Jun 4 2008, 10:14 AM) yea.. If I am not wrong is from Germany or Holland.
You didnt see chin sell in the market is because they can't get stock. Because the breeders over there dont have enough to supply export for sometime. |

Dog will create fear to your chin. He will think of something going to eat him, create stress, and fear. 100 feet away is needed.
