QUOTE(ikram_p @ Jun 4 2024, 10:02 PM) Nowadays modern OLED TVs have a lot of mitigation functions to reduce the chances of burn in, like pixel shift and logo luminance adjustment (on LG and Samsung OLED TVs). As long as you have those on and you dont watch sports or news with static logo on 24/7, there is really nothing to worry about. |

QUOTE(Barricade @ May 27 2025, 01:43 PM) The problem is their customer service is shit. I emailed them requesting for home service 2 weeks ago. Took them two weeks to reply - asking me to try some troubleshooting steps and see if it helps. Can try to contact R logic Sony directly if you are in KV area.I told them it doesn't help one week ago and I haven't hear from them since. Looks like Sony's customer service is as shit as their TV. I'm trying Samsung OLED next. |

QUOTE(joeblow @ May 30 2025, 07:50 PM) Hi folks, Not sure about TCL. But if you are considering Bravia 8 ii QD-OLED then you can consider the 2025 Samsung S90F/95F cause the 8 ii is using Samsung QD-OLED panel also if you don’t mind not having Dolby Vision.I am getting a bit fed up with my current Sony A80J, out of warranty and there's burn in mark already. I watch a lot of news so very easy to get this. Thinking of getting the new Bravia 8 ii when it comes out, but so far internet review is super expensive. Can I check if the new Bravia 5 is any legit? Their new mini led tv. I am also considering the premium version of TCL, but I don't know if TCL support and quality there. Review seems not bad and much cheaper than Sony. Would TCL be legit enough to replace Sony A80J? I can get mini led or oled, no difference to me. Watch mainly youtube and tvbox/netflix. Netflix recently activated HDR10+ on the latest 2025 Samsung TVs and some older models which support AV1 codec. So I have been doing a lot of comparison between LG OLED Dolby Vision vs Samsung QD-OLED HDR10+. I can say it’s a tie between DV and HDR10+. Obviously a lot would say Dolby Vision has the upper hand and more superior. But real scene highlights to me look similar at least. But when it comes to “colour luminance and volume”, I can say that QD-OLED really helps with not just the “brighter than bright” peak brightness, the colour saturation when at higher brightness is very punchy and making the overall PQ even more impactful with white point close to D65. QD-OLED also has almost perfect uniformity and less banding issue. So I reckon the 8 ii will perform even better. So yeah, you can consider the Samsung or the Sony QD-OLED. Either will be miles better. |

QUOTE(TongCN @ Jul 1 2025, 05:50 PM) Nowadays HDMI 2.1 is very messy term, haha How did you get the 4k dolby gaming to show up with green tick and not a warning sign? I had green tick before then became a input latency warning sign since few years back. But what i mean is after certain length of extension for HDMI 2.1, the feature will degrade. Example in my case now for Xbox Series X and LG TV CX: 1) I use hdmi 2.1 "3 meter" combine with hdmi 2.1 "2 meter" extension = no 4k120 2) I then change the "3 meter" to "1 meter" (meaning 1 meter + 2 meter extension) = i get 4k120 So case 1 (3+2), under xbox hdmi 4k = not all green tick while case 2 (1+2), all green tick [attachmentid=11515506] This post has been edited by Kahlamx: Jul 2 2025, 11:06 AM |

QUOTE(TongCN @ Jul 2 2025, 01:15 PM) Technically speaking PS5 never actually fully utilize the 'FULL" capability of 48Gpbs HDMI 2.1 cause the console itself gimped at 32Gbps (4L8 for PS5, 40 Gbps 4L10 for Xbox Series X). So basically, the PS5 can only output YUV4:2:0/4:2:2 8, 10, 12 color bit depth or full chroma RGB 4:4:4 but at 8-bit only based on this chart below.Console gamers can use this chart below: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « new HDMI 2.2 spec is just out by the way. https://www.hdmi.org/spec/hdmi2 This post has been edited by Kahlamx: Jul 2 2025, 02:18 PM |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jul 2 2025, 02:32 PM) I am not a PC gamer. But as far as I know for example the high-end GPUs like the RTX4090 or 50s can output 4K 120hz 4:4:4 12-bit. Though there is no consumer grade display that display a true 12-bit 68.7 billion colors Also, it depends on the TV capability also. Some older gens oled tv market themselves as HDMI 2.1 capable but gimped at 40gpbs. I think LG C2 and above, Sony A80J and above supports full 48 Gbps. Also gaming HDR/Dolby Vision is a hit or miss and it depends on several factors and whether the devs are implementing HGiG (HDR Gaming Interest Group) properly or no. Some games I rather play in SDR due to "crappy" HDR, and in game brightness sliders. Not a lot of ps5 games output "at or up to" 120fps also. Having said that for console gamers, it's absolutely better to use 120Hz VRR TV so can capsize on those uncapped 40fps (each frame is repeated 3 times on 120hz) in those fidelity / balanced mode where applicable. QUOTE(anfieldude @ Jul 7 2025, 10:02 AM) And for once 83in G5 is available! Sony tax is inevitable, but good to hear that since the Bravia 8ii is not tagged as Flagship, Bravia 8ii actually performs just as good as the A95L if not better. I checkout at one of the Sony centre in KV. They place all 3 OLEDs, 8ii, A95L and 8 side by side. And of course they are running retail vivid mode.Color volume wise wRGB has no match. Fiery fire remains orangey on the QD-OLED from the front and stays consistent when viewed at angle from the side with no desaturation. Bravia 8 fiery fire is more faded bright orange/yellow. This is just one example. G5 also has the dithering issue going on. |

QUOTE(westlife @ Jul 7 2025, 11:12 AM) depending on individual preference. if one can fork out more for the highest end model, obviously one can get more from it as every money u paid counts. 65" S90D is around 7.9k-8.2k on shopee as of now. And it's not the matte screen while retaining best color volume and brightness.but as said, OLED is decent enough to most ppl. if $$ is not the concern, sky is the limit. No point discussing as all know that it will be better. I think it's the best bang for the buck. |

The G5 diagonal dithering lines algorithm is quite visible when viewing dark scenes. You can check them out on AVSforum.
Just run a simple grayscale uniformity test especially 1% to 5% on QD-OLED vs WOLED should give you a general idea for near blacks. |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Jul 9 2025, 02:26 PM) They don't make it easy to know what panel for each size and unless someone knows how to look at the product code to decide which panel one is getting it can become an issue. Actually, you can use the phone camera and try to take the subpixel structure photo when you are in the showroom. Picture below is taken using my fruit phone for my S95B. QD-OLED has a triangular RGB subpixel layout and absence of the white pixel. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by Kahlamx: Jul 9 2025, 06:02 PM |
