Mikey,

I think you see double contacts because you have copied a copy of all your contacts in SIM to yr phone, hence yous see duplicates.

KS20 can read contacts from SIM, in fact when I firstly use my KS20, I do not have contacts in the phone, it automatically loads from the SIM.

Dear Ed,

Strange, strange and strange. when i first use the KS20, it could NOT read my sim. i even went to hp shop to seek help. still they could not do t. Strange strange.!!!! so i downloaded a SIM manager to "do something" and i managed to get the sim contacts into my KS20. however, all the arrangemetn changed !!!! For example - Actual name was Chong Ah Kow, and i only saw x. Kow, Chong Ah. The "x" was a figure. it took me about 3 hours to delete and rearrange one by one. So, as i am seeing SIM and phone contacts IN THE PHONE BODY (I am saying it because i took off my SIM and the DOUBLE contacts are still there). Again, i deleted contact by contact, and rarranged them one by one till 3.30 am last night. dead tired.

Questions >

1. how come your KS20 can read your SIM eh??
2. i just saw the SK Tool, it has a function "delete contacts". i am thinking of trying to delete !!!! worst come to worst, i can re import them back from the outlook ..... am i right ??? BIG question yeah ????? i am still angry about seeing double and my KS20 could not do anything, such as providing a function to delete contacts at once .... strange ..... can anyone offer explanation????

still feeling the hangover ...

thanks ya.

Hey Mikey, cool it down... I know it's frustating.

I got my KS20 new in August during the LG Warehouse Sale at OKR. I did not do anything to it, it automatically loads the SIM contact when I open the fone-book. Tht's all..

As for the name thingy, it's because usually, it will distplay first name then only the last name, hence it's normal to see Ah Kow, Chong. I save the whole of the name into the "first name" field, hence I don't get this problem.

I am using iContact, hence I need to copy my SIM fone book to the phone. I see double too.

It's painful if you can't get hold of the fone control. I really suspect the previous owner has screwed up the base Windows Mobile application. And he/she do not know the functionality of HARD RESET, so he/she consider selling it off.

This KS20 is my first approach to Windows Mobile too and initially, I was really pissed with it cos it's not user friendly at all but after I manage to customize the UI, I'm beginning to love it. It's easy to understand the platform if you're a Windows 3.11 user.

At least, this is what I think.

Dear Ed,

yes. i am loving it as it is really a good and responsive phone, well, at least it appears to be on your video. but at times it is really nasty. i was shopping at Tesco and i wanted to make a call to client. then during the "dialling", an sms came in, and .... Ha Ha Ha, the phone hanged !!! It bloody hanged !!! Phew, really challenging now. nvm, i will try to sort it out. to be hinest, i love it more than my ealier Nokia 100, Microtac because they offered nothing.

thanks for understanding.

cheers.

HI Mikey,

Phone hanging is a common issue for me when I use S2U2. Even the more stable version of 1.22, 10% of the time, it will hang when a call comes in, that is why these days, I don't really use it anymore. It's more of 'trouble' than 'nice' to me. I just press the power button to sleep the fone when I am not in use.

Nokia 100 and Microtec (whoa, you reminded me I had that last time) are basic fones. So, u can't really compare them with KS20.

Again, I wud advise you to do a hard reset, simply because of the reasons I mentioned earlier.

Morning Ed,

yes, all agreed. yesterday noght i have lost all my contacts. luckily i mproted them back into the KS20. but then, this morning i just realised that all the phone numbers have lost the "0" infront, for example, 012 became 12. ha ha ha .... but loving this strange phenomena.

yes, i promised myself to reset now, and hope you and DrWho can advise when i am in trouble (i will). but only after my trip from phillipines.

now trying to find out why the "0" are mising, and trying to "claim" them back !!!

thanks ya.

I tried installing Manila 2D in my KS20 yesterday. The installation CAB file is about 15mb and it took about 10 mins to install. At some point, I thought it hanged. Anyhow, after restarting my fone, it displays "Touch here to launch TF2D", I did and it says "TF2D is loading..." and about 3 seconds later, it displayed "Touch here to launch TF2D" again.

It seems that it fails to load. Even after soft-resetting the phone a couple of times, it was unsuccessful. So, I uninstall it and it took like 10 mins again. After clearing the TF2D, the fone still has about 1mb space occupied and I don't really know where are the remaining files. Used SKT to look for it, can't find anything either. Anyhow, I have done a complete clean-up (including optimizing registries) and it frees up about 1mb again. ..

So... tht was my experience with TF2D... just to share smile.gif

PS: I'd better stick to my iFonz.

wooo hooo.. good news!

MAS to allow cellphone, PDA use in flights

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines passengers can now use their BlackBerry-type devices and mobile phones on selected flights to send and receive email and text messages, and to make and receive voice calls.

The airline has teamed up with AeroMobile to become the first air carrier in Asia to offer such in-flight mobile phone and data services.

The facility is available immediately on selected flights on MAS’ routes covering Europe, Australia, and across Asia including China and Japan.

Passengers would be able to safely use their mobile phone or personal digital assistant (PDA) during the “cruise” phase of the flight without affecting aircraft systems and ground telecommunication networks.

Users will be billed on their regular phone bills by their own service providers as with any other international roaming call, the airline said.

MAS has conducted trials over the last few weeks on a Boeing 777-200, testing all aspects of the system using standard BlackBerrys and mobile phones, it said in a statement.

The Boeing 777 equipped with the AeroMobile system has received aviation safety approvals (Supplemental Type Certificate) from both the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Appropriate approvals have also been granted by the Malaysian authorities to operate the service, MAS said.

The trial is ongoing and if findings are positive, the facility would be offered across the airline’s remaining wide body aircraft by next year, said MAS chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Seri Idris Jala.

“We firmly believe that both our business and leisure passengers will very much welcome this new service,” he said in the statement.

The AeroMobile system supports General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), and uses Inmarsat’s Swift64 satellite system, which has been added to the trial B777 aircraft.

Ladies and gentlemen,

let me try .....

what do you mean by "clear storage'?

a master reset means "hard reset" ya. this will re format all your programs and data. if you are sure of it, DrWho can surely help.

Why not try to use SK Tool first to clean up bad short cuts, invalid registries, bad statistics etc etc? this could be helpful.

I don't think mine is the latest. I've downloaded from some other webpages and NOT XDA.

Added on November 6, 2008, 7:45 pmI am planning to get an iPhone. Looking at the sale thread here, a lot of cheap iPhones available especially the 2G one. Anyone here has experience of iPhone?

Is the difference between 2G and 3G drastic in terms of performance?
