IMHO the IFX-14 is light considering it's size

Yes indeed. My friend had a Zalman CNPS9700NT that I helped to sell (2nd hand) and it weighed more than the IFX-14. My IFX-14 is still in the box since the day I bought...sigh. No time to test.
Added on January 4, 2008, 12:28 amFor those wanting to buy HR07 or RAM fans, just go for the Ultra 120 Extreme...IFX is too fat. This post has been edited by clayclws: Jan 4 2008, 12:28 AM |

On second thoughts, I should've bought the Ultra Extreme instead of IFX-14
Well, since I've purchased it, I'll just continue using until I get my WC set. |

When you mount it in a small casing then you'll feel like getting the Ultra Extreme even more It's big, bulky and even tough on my CM690. What's more you have to care for the fins during the process, lol. |

It is the design...the IFX-14 does not fit a lot of other Thermalright's own heatsinks. Once you use the IFX-14, you cannot use their RAM, Northbridge and MOSFET heatsinks...If you are using MSI's Circu-pipe, then you're a goner from the get-go.

I wonder why they'd design something like that and lose selling other products For my case, I can never fit a RAM blower (probably due to my motherboard design too). Well, WC is the next step or a Wolfdale. |

I'll go watercooling on my next RIG. Probably a Nehalem. That time, I can afford it on my own

Yeah, that's the only way to use them. You can't place the fans on the side closest to the RAM. But some motherboards, like my P35C-DS3R that has 6 RAM slots (4 DDR2, 2 DDR3), there's not much space above DIMM1.

clayclws is right and having only 1 fan in the middle isn't the most optimum setup for IFX-14 (unfortunately).

My DIY custom WC project uses air cooler as radiator, custom reservoir + aftermarket cpu block...
