FREMM has now established itself as a reference product for the world frigate market. The recent success in Indonesia - with the sale of 6 units, 4 to be produced in Italy and 2 in the Indonesian PT-Pal shipyards - has raised the number of units, including orders and options, of the model produced by "our" Fincantieri to 30. : 10 for the American Navy, 2 + 2 for the Egyptian Navy - by the way: the 2 Egyptian options are in antisom variant - and 10 (8 already in service plus the 2 replacements of those sold to Egypt already under construction) for the Navy.

But the good news for FREMMs certainly doesn't end there. Morocco, which, let us remember, has a French FREMM in service, would like to buy 2 more units, but this time in an Italian (antisom) configuration. MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A Philippine air force C-130 aircraft carrying combat troops assigned to fight Muslim militants crashed and exploded while landing in the south Sunday, killing at least 42 army soldiers on board and three civilians on the ground in one of worst disasters in the air force’s history.

At least 49 other soldiers were rescued with injuries and survived the fiery noontime crash into a coconut grove outside the Jolo airport in Sulu province, including some who managed to jump off the aircraft before it exploded and was gutted by fire, military officials said. Three of seven villagers who were hit on the ground died.

The aircraft had 96 people on board, including three pilots and five crew while the rest were army personnel, the military said, adding only five soldiers remained unaccounted for late Sunday. The pilots survived but were seriously injured, officials said.

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules was one of two ex-U.S. Air Force aircraft handed over to the Philippines as part of military assistance this year.

MOSCOW, July 13. /TASS/. The latest combat plane that Russia will unveil on the first day of the MAKS-2021 aerospace show will rival the US fifth-generation F-35 aircraft, Executive Director of Aviaport Aviation News Agency Oleg Panteleyev said on Tuesday.

"The teasers in English and the regions that the pilots presented in a video released by Rostec [state tech corporation] suggest that the domestic light fighter will be in competition with the US F-35 aircraft on foreign markets. I am certain that the fighter’s demonstration at the MAKS-2021 will create a wow effect. It is not accidental that [Russia’s state arms exporter] Rosoboronexport has invited over 120 delegations from 65 countries of the world to the aerospace show," he said.

SEOUL/POCHEON -- Five people were injured after an Army ambulance helicopter crash-landed at a military base Monday, authorities said.

The helicopter made an emergency landing on the airstrip at an Army aviation battalion in Pocheon, 46 kilometers north of Seoul, at 10:35 a.m. while on its way to pick up a patient there, according to the Army and the local fire department.

Five crewmembers were injured, two seriously, and were moved to a nearby hospital. None of them are in a life-threatening condition, they said. The tail of the medevac chopper was partially destroyed.

"We have suspended the operations of the same type of the aircraft as of 11:10 a.m. Medical evacuation missions will be carried out by UH-60 jets," the Army said in a statement, adding they will look into the exact cause of the accident. (Yonhap)

MANILA, Philippines—One of the Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) brand new attack aircraft was damaged during a routine flight and is currently non-operational.

The plane, an A-29B Super Tucano, was being flown by a Brazilian pilot of the plane manufacturer Embraer for equipment check. The wing commander of the PAF’s 15th Strike Wing was aboard as passenger.

“The Brazilian instructor pilot had full control of the aircraft and responsibility for the flight,” the PAF said in a statement posted on Facebook late on Thursday (July 8).

It said the commander of the 15th Strike Wing, the PAF unit in charge of supporting ground attacks, “was just a mere passenger observing the performance and flight characteristics of the aircraft.”

The PAF said the Brazilian pilot failed to “initiate a go-around and prevent a positive landing.” This was jargon for failure to land properly.

(KAI) announced on the 20th that it had signed an additional supply contract for the introduction and export of the T-50i tactical introductory trainer with the Indonesian Ministry of National Defense (Air Force).

With this contract, KAI will export six T-50i tactical introductory trainers and a follow-up support package for aircraft operation to Indonesia.

The contract size is 274.488 billion won, and the contract period is from December 16, this year to October 30, 2024.
