But remember they are running at very high cost to operate big stores in shopping malls. They need bigger margins to cover their expenses. You can just choose any electrical product price from Harvey and compared with a small electrical shop, they can anytime beat Harvey's price. Seen it, done that before. So, I never buy electrical stuff from big boys.

Small boys can earn lesser because they overheads are low.

It is not confusing la, most of the plasma from panny is manufactured in SG and getting directly from SG is cheaper than Msia, believe me alot cheaper- do drop a visit to harvey norman/courts at Suntech mall in SG, u ll know the different especially comes to margin calculation. At lease 10-15% different in term of the pricing u see in harvey norman malaysia and harvey norman in SG when comes to conversion, plus if directly getting directly from SG panny, at least 20-30% different and it is not illegal to get stock from SG, u getting either directly from SG panny by registering under SG company (thrid party) but of course when something wrong, ur warranty will have to claim back to SG and some dealer will not give u the card or some will give u a fake one....
That's y u have authorized dealer and non authorized dealer, still alot ppl forget where i belonged to, I know the margin and pls dont try to explain like a small boy

another simple comparison which is at least relevant ( and try not to compare with IT things, do u know the distributer's price in IT field is more expensive than comparing in low yat? Thier reason is always SUPPORT AND SUPPORT.....)

WHY WOULD SONY MALAYSIA CENTER EXISTS IF U CAN GET CHEAPER MEMORY STICK (OF COURSE ORI WITHOUT SONY MSIA STICKER), CHEAPER SE HANDPHONE OR GAME CONSOLE LIKE PSP IN LOW YAT/SG WANG?

because if u buy a PSP in low yat, u will nvr see the warranty card/SG warranty card if u buy ps3 and SONY MALAYSIA will not repair a single thing for u without fee or sometimes they dont even accept to repair for u if u dont have the warranty card.

Paying extra because brands like Sony and Panny which provides technical support and warranty in Malaysia do need money while if stock getting from oversea is cheaper because some might evade the taxes or thrid party import, same reason goes to bulk order like u can see in here, why?

AGAIN i m not from any dealer and i m directly from HQ, i can check with sales and marketing side for reference.....

IT stuff sold in low yat and other places are genuine and the manufacturer honours the warranty. With that the price still varies widely.
I got that WD hdd original from LY and it's original warranty card from WD Malaysia.

Many electrical stuff in SG is cheaper than Malaysia, because SG is one of the biggest port in the world. Many products stop there for distribution and their freight cost are so much lower, espcially electronics.

My question is why any tom d*** and harry can bring SG panny to msia for sale, when MY panny also getting from SG?
By the way, the dealer I am getting from has won many top sales award from Panasonic. So, it's an authorised dealer.

Let me get my hands on the unit first and tell you all whether it's from panny my or sg, ok?

Your Sony Center explanation is a BAD explanation lah.

1st of all Sony is NOT in the RETAIL business. It depends on stores, distributors/dealers, whatever.
Any time a principal comes in and aggressively attacks retail channel - the Channel will get pissed off and not sell your goods.
Therefore, it is NOT in the pricinpal's interests to beat their own channel partners.

Which is why Sony Store is not meant to compete with the channel on price.

It is a FACT that you can get perfectly authentic local warranty stuff from outside Sony Store. Sony Store exists for MORE THAN 1 REASON. Branding/showcasing their latest stuff being 1 of them.

Therefore your argument about not having support, etc is not correct in this case.


2ndly, I don't see why everyone is getting on DigitalTech's case - sure he should do his homework, make sure he doesn't get cheated, etc. But just bcos you know your shop's cost price, doesn't mean that the deal is not possible. And that goes EVEN IF YOU'RE working with the principal. Who knows, maybe there's a limited marketing promo going on? Which happens often at product launches, roadshows, etc.

FYI - I bought my plasma at what is considered 'below cost'. Friend from Big Electronic Store (who happens to be in charge of overall electronic goods) cannot believe I got it at that price as he knows the actual cost. In fact, I also know another shop quite well who confessed that the margin they got is only RM100 per unit.

Well, I did get it, and I got my official 5 year warranty confirmation directly from principal in Malaysia.

Bottom line - it could be real, it might not be - but please don't go on the know it all attitude of "I know the cost price and that is impossible". As I've heard that many times

That's the model I am interested in, so I did my survey and found out the deal.
Other models I dunno la. But remember to survey the smaller authorised dealers. They can give you good deals.
