Ok lemme add my 2 cents on the various dating apps I've tried:

Basically I'm 34 this year so I'm in the more mature market segment I guess. My looks & career are fairly average but I can write fairly well, which carries me further in some apps than others. Anyway so far my evaluation is as follows:

1. Tinder:
Looks are really important
Description isn't that important
There are plenty of bots BUT also many hotties

2. CMB
Looks are a bit less important
Description is somewhat more important
English-speaking professional ladies are somewhat more prevalent

3. Bumble
Pretty much the same as CMB
Note: many of the guys in lowyat complain about girls having to message first in Bumble. Imo this is not a bad thing, as it makes girls more willing to swipe on you (they can always choose not to message you if they don't feel like it)

4. Okcupid
Can't quite tell yet but there are seriously a lot of questions to answer in the profile

5. Tantan
Looks are more important than CMB / Bumble but less than Tinder I feel
Description isn't that important too
Seems to be populated by predominantly Chinese speaking girls, quite a few bots too I sense

to all the users here, just wan to ask... have you ever skipped 1-2 days didnt reply the person or end the conversation first thereafter msg 1-2 days later? I notice if skip even 1 day, the feeling toward the person can be different already...

i seen some dating advice from youtube is like, they said no need to message everyday, quality > quantity. But this method didnt specifically say is for the person you have met or for online dating.

Logically speaking, i feel is OK to text once a while when you met some one randomly, but in dating app, somehow must keep the conversation going and not skipping 1-2 days only reply.

I think it's a matter of preference; most guys who asked for my phone number or meet me on first exchange, ended up immediately ghosting/blocking me when I refused. They don't need to waste time on me, I don't need to risk my own comfort.

Because matches coming in every day. Hard to stay focus on one. I m a not pro that can chat with multiple women yet still can maintain the flow/conversation, what ever you call it. Is like once I find this new match interesting, I put the rest aside first.

Yeap definately scammers. You learn how to spot them after a while because they all seem to use the same "beautiful Chinese girl model" type pics.

And the ones I've bumped into are always from Hong Kong.

It is just a matter of preference. Your relationship goal is getting laid and casual dating. Other people expectation could be different.

If you tried and tried, analysed all your failures and realise, "okay, dating app is not a good platform for me because there are too many fakers and I am not good at identifying one", then it's okay to just give it up and look elsewhere. Just because you think it doesn't work for you, does not mean it won't work for others.

To be fair, while I don't use such services, I think it's more of paying for the convenience to date, rather than paying for dates. The agency works as a middleman that helps to filter and shortlist dates so the client doesn't have to go through the processes himself. It is not for everyone, but it could work for some.

Yes, but then if you look for dates by yourselves you had to screen them on your own, and still pay for the dinners. I don't think there's wrong or right, just different methods.
