No. The only decent promotions that we can get is during the PC Fair. There isn't any "back to school" promos here in Msia.

Thanks man. appreciate it

I think i will ask someone to do it...

You know anyone or shops who can do it for me?

Is you MacBook Pro still under warranty? If it is, you might want to go back to a authorized service center so that you don't void your warranty.

Don't drag and drop the files. Make sure you use the copy and paste command so that it doesn't "move" the original files.

just got my 320gb HDD. might do "operation" on my MBP tonight or this weekend...

should i do restore from time machine or install a fresh copy? Thinking of installing back all those apps really pulls me down tongue.gif

If I were you, I'll do a clean install. smile.gif

Most apps are drag and drop anyway except for a few such as CS3. Good luck on the surgery.

Hmm, i plug a LCD to my macbook, and use it as my primary display. But i notice when i close down my macbook, the screen show no signal . Must i always let my MB screen up even i already turn it off and use LCD as primary display?
*
If you want to close the lid and using an external screen as the monitor, you will need a mouse and keyboard connected to enable "clamshell" mode.

Hello Apple Fans!

I have some questions here,

Been choosing between MB or MBP, what is the major differences besides the Graphic Gard?

one is 13" another is 15". Basically what is the majar usage for MB and MBP?

Thanks!
*
What do you plan to use the MB/MBP for?

@kwekeugene

Hi there, basically im bored with PC, want to try something new.

my usage will be surfing the net and watch movies most of the time. Some music to go with too.

bscially i dont really mind the price for both devices (MB/MBP).
where im not into graphic~

Thanks guys
*
Technically, you won't need the MBP since the MB will do just fine for you. The MBP is all of the MB except for...

* larger 15" screen (better for movies)
* standalone graphics card (for HD movies)
* alluminium case which is more durable

Initially I'm planning to get myself the MacBook Black colour version, but after somehow I might try to get the MacBook Pro 15" instead. The price is already standard in HK which is HK$ 15,400 for MacBook Pro 15" 200GB HDD and 256MB gfx version. However, different shop giving different bundle like some giving Caspade keyboard and palm pad with plastic casing for the MB/MBP. Some even offer upgrading to 4GB at the price of HK$600 rather than HK$1K++. Well, will be wait till I have earned enough and then find for the best offer smile.gif

Anyway for MBP, can we buy larger HDD and upgrading RAM ourselves? Would that be even cheaper? unsure.gif
*
Upgrading the MBP's HDD is a little bit tricky. You'll have to open the topcase to get to the HDD and you'll void the warranty if you attempt it yourself. RAM is easily replaceable and will not void your warranty. You just loosen a few screws under the MBP and you can slot in your RAM.

The 4GB RAM for 600 HK dollars seems like a good deal.

Nevermind~ do u guys insert any ext. PCMCIA sound card into your Mac?

e.g. Creative Sound Blaster PCMCIA Audigy?
*
I don't mean to sound rude, but you do seem to have a lot of questions. I think the faster way to answer your questions is to go down to a Apple reseller and spend some time with the Macs.

As for the sound, the internal soundcard is fairly decent. I would rate the sound quality to be better than a iPod. If you're not an audiophile, you should be happy with the internal.

From my experience, the coolerpad deosn't really help to bring down the idle temperature. At most 1-2 degrees. It helps prevents spikes in the temp and that results in less frequent noisy fan moments.

Paying RM1899 for ACPP and it still is not as good as Dell's Complete Cover? Must look into more details about this before investing in a MBP.
If I'm not mistaken, I think it was quoted in this forum, Macforums and the customer service at Machines that the RAM are individually tested by Apple. So, this ain't true? So why the heck are their pricing so much higher than normal RAM?
*
That's because you are looking at the wrong place. Macsales.com have Apple "tested" RAM at reasonable prices.

I BELIEVE, you read a lot of complains because those people have something to complain about. And those who don't, they just shut up and enjoy life. So, if you see nine complains, it is not necessary that it is out of ten people. PERHAPS, it is nine out of a hundred which makes it short of 10%. This is just my guess. Because personally, I don't go to forum and open a thread saying that my machine is doing a great job and I don't have problem with it.
*
This is a valid point. Half of the ppl in this part of the forum only voice up whenever they run into trouble. If you have noticed, the other half are the regulars who hang around here too often....

Vincent,

Do take note that this is the midrange MacBook model. The retail price is RM4599 and this unit has been upgraded to 4GB of RAM. I would say the price of would be around the region of 4K.
