Where is my stars?

QUOTE(svfn @ May 25 2021, 03:17 PM) wah hackintosh! btw i noticed XMP auto set my VCCSA to 1.316-1.368V max, is that safe for Rocket Lake daily usage or should be lowered? See cstkl1's settings. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5104988/+1160VCCSA should be a lot less, IO is more. Depends on your RAM speed.

QUOTE(Bonchi @ May 25 2021, 05:28 PM) He use god tier board, so vccsa/io can be lower than average. But generally 1.35-1.4v is fine on gear1. No reason for gear2 to exceed 1.2V especially the IO. I can't verify Rocket but my 9900K runs fine with VCCSA 1.1, IO 1.15v with DDR4-3600 using my mid tier board. I will tune lower when i got time. QUOTE(svfn @ May 25 2021, 07:35 PM) thanks, it is just locked 11400 on B560.. so i did not change vcore/cpu vccio. i tried with VCCSA to 1.28V and it still goes from 1.260 to 1.356, but now slightly lower averages at 1.298. then i tried OCCT and it ran memory tests SSE/AVX without error, CPU Large Extreme AVX is also fine, but AVX2 error as soon as started. i don't think a slight change in VCCSA caused it? strangely intel XTU test with AVX2 ticked ran no issue, and Handbrake encode H.265 also no issue. do i need to worry about OCCT AVX2? Try VCCSA 1.1v, IO 1.15v if your DDR is 3200. Go lower if you want to. This post has been edited by TristanX: May 25 2021, 09:54 PM

QUOTE(llaw @ Jun 21 2021, 01:46 PM) I guess there's no perfect system then. Best just get both and switch accordingly depending on what you use it for Owner of 5900X and i9-9900K. My 5900X drinks 120-150W idle with 5 apps open, 9900K sips only 40-50W with same apps. My current setup is 9900K for everyday use and light-medium gaming, 5900X for demanding apps and games.

QUOTE(llaw @ Jun 21 2021, 01:58 PM) That's a surprise to me actually, never thought TSMC 7nm consume that much power during idling... or inefficient power management from AMD. I was using 9900KF before upgrading to 11700K, didn't notice much changes in terms of power consumption, be it at idle or full load. But I unlock all power limits and overclock near the max anyway. Good thing is that still able to achieve low power consumption at idle. Its the CPU and chipset design. AMD idle power management still falls behind. X570 is a power hog too. AMD with monolithic die CPUs idles really well. Definitely not TSMC. I even handicap my 9900K with overclock. Still idles around the same.

QUOTE(cawan @ Aug 1 2021, 09:46 AM) i just complete swap + topup Rm150, from i7-11700 (mine) to i9-11900F so now im with i9F .. obvious it lock CPU.. same Watt TDP.. a bit of Peak Boost / 5.1 Mhz .. and i lost with iGPU. this person give reason that he need CPU with iGPU to stabilize his Processing in mining setup. was this a valid reason? and what other pro's between this 2 CPU? Worth in "Thermal Velocity Boost" advance? or it just Waste of Sand.. come shoot me.. I don't see any sand! Maybe go to the beach.

QUOTE(x-1o8-x @ Aug 19 2021, 02:59 AM) is RM1300 for a used i7 8700k a common price at the moment? thinking of selling mine to upgrade it but not sure how much i could fetch together with the mobo also, will delidding make it worth less or more? In their dreams. When you have 10600K at RM1000ish and 11600K at RM1139 with full warranty and delidding not required. RM800 is already generous offer for a no warranty CPU.

Looks like Z690 belongs to Asus for now. Got LGA115x/LGA1200 cooler compatibility.

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Nov 11 2021, 11:49 AM) lmao 5600X Up to 10% Faster than i5-12600K in eSports Titles. We’re looking at a delta of as much as 32%. https://www.hardwaretimes.com/amd-ryzen-5-5...esports-titles/500FPS not enough? It gets rather silly.

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Nov 12 2021, 12:46 AM) wake me up when i9-14900K release, not ready for high platform cost now (sky high mobo + DDR5 price). Also by then they should have solve the high heat/power at max load with stable Win 11 as well. Anyway, impressive come back from Intel, make the CPU market excited again at least for next 2 years i guess I don't think high heat is going to be solved anytime soon. Both camps are fighting for performance crown. Turbo to the max! Yeah, DDR5 and mobo prices are ridiculous. Makes it looks a lot less value for me.

Amd likely getting pushed aside for intel and apple. And Intel says "I'll hog all your chip production queue while I wait for my fab to catchup."
