QUOTE(annoymous1234 @ Oct 4 2022, 10:22 PM)
Does anyone know if other insurance company besides GE charge a loading for being underweight? Is this a standard policy among for all insurance companies to charge underweight?

* non smoker, no medical history, all healthy after check up.
*
hi annoymous1234, what's your BMI btw? when you applied for GE (I assumed you applied hence you ask this), did company request you to do a simple Medical Examination?

QUOTE(ping325 @ Oct 5 2022, 09:45 AM)
Yes pru also have this as well. abnormal BMI will subject to loading or warning or rejection.
It is really case to case basis. depend on the respective under write decision. Not a straight forward Yes and No answer.

For example from what i faced before:
1.an existing client upgrade and found BMI abnormal , issued warning letter without loading.
2.a totally new client , previously from GE , got records , BMI overweight , issue warning letter without loading
3.a totally new client applied , found overweight , decision of loading issued.
*warning letter means ask client to gain back weight or lose weight in coming years in order to approve future plan purchase (if any).

No harm if you want to apply from GE , AIA , Prudential , Allianz and wait for the result then decide from there.
Each insurance company may have different underwriting results or same results , we never know.
*
hi ping, the "issued warning letter without loading" means Prudential approve their insurance application?

hi nelon. you can either upgrade within the same policy, apply a new plan from the same company (GE), or you can also apply new plan from other companies. most importantly, if you are comfortable with your current GE agent, you can actually just tell agent your concern and i believe agent can recommend something to resolve your concern.

yes, since this is your concern, can just add in this benefit into your existing plan. its called SMCC (Smart Multi Critical Care). whether if you want to buy a separate policy or not then depends on the purpose of doing so. wink.gif

Be carefur of scammer agents who only interested to earn commission.

Social medias and forums are plenty with these people.

Better advise are from people who dont have vested interest. It doesnt matter is right or wrong but a pre 'alert' essay is your warning.
*
hi mini orchard, perhaps you might wanna elaborate. like how they scam? or do you mean.. mislead?

But just to share about elderly people buying medical insurance.

I know of a case where a 60 plus year old man that had a non-disclosure, made a major claim within 2 years of the policy inforced but the insurance company still paid out the claim in full and did not extend any additional exclusion or loading.

Interesting case indeed.
*
wow this is indeed interesting. wait... or maybe after investigation company found the claim genuine? or can't dig out evidence of pre-existing illness?

QUOTE(Holocene @ Oct 21 2022, 12:08 PM)
To reply denion and lifebalance,

In fact, there was an investigation launched but the insurance company deemed the claim to be valid. It was paid out without imposing additional exclusion/ loading in light of new information that the old man subsequently disclosed as a non-disclosure.

But to all prospective insurance clients, do know that if your application is not done properly or there is any non-disclosure it will definitely make the claim process more challenging. Insurance companies have the right to deny the claim or even outright void the policy.

Best,
Jiansheng
*
since investigation is done, i believe insurance companies will at times also understand the case's claim validity and maybe in this case the claim is reasonable as well. wink.gif

hi xDjWanNabex, what's the discussion with your Zurich agent and why the 2million life insurance & 300k critical illness payout?

QUOTE(xDjWanNabex @ Nov 1 2022, 02:56 PM)
1) how can we say how much is enough? the same insurance plan for 1m is at 580 a month for 20 years. at 400 additional, i thought it was worth it.
it really depends on individual because different people want their insurance coverage differently. but to make it general (rule of thumb), it will be 10x of annual income. again, this is just a guide and might not suit your needs

2) i have looked at other plans online, but its not giving me a proper breakdown of the charges/compensations hence why i was seeking feedback from people who has purchased life insurance recently.
i have no experience buying online, likely you need to purchase first then only see the breakdown when you get the contract document. just my guess.

QUOTE(donhay @ Nov 15 2022, 03:58 PM)
My child is 10yo now, what are the pros and cons for getting a education saving plan now?

I cannot decide. thanks
*
hi donhay, i will say education saving plan is more to your planning towards your kids education, not on product. btw what's your plan for your child's tertiary education? wanna send your child to overseas? private or local U, etc.

know what is the goal you want for your child then plan from there. for malaysia education cost and fees... you can refer to few of the links
https://www.studymalaysia.com/education/top...ion-in-malaysia
https://educationmalaysia.gov.my/fees-and-costs/
https://www.mastersportal.com/articles/2881...ia-in-2022.html

then factored in inflation of 5%-6% p.a, know the education amount that you target to prepare then work backwards. wink.gif

QUOTE(rocketm @ Nov 21 2022, 03:34 AM)
Hi, I have some questions about nominee/beneficiary and will for AIA insurance.

1. Can I appoint nominee or beneficiary for my AIA insurance in MyAIA portal?
if not mistaken, you can't nominate via the portal. Have to fill up the nomination form and submit. Clarify with agent better wink.gif

2. What is the formula to calculate how much the appointed nominee or beneficiary will get when I passed away?
there is no formula, you can assign based on your own wishes. for example, i can assign 50% for spouse, 25% for dad and 25% for mum. based on your decision. this is for insurance policy nomination ya. not on other assets distribution like bank account, property, etc.

3, Who will get the insurance proceed when the stated name in the will for the same policy number is different with the appointed nominee or beneficiary?
for insurance proceed, follow the nomination in the insurance policy. unless nomination in insurance policy fails, only follow distribution based on will.

4. When trustee (policyholder's wife) is selected, will this trustee receive the insurance proceed, just like nominee/beneficiary, when the policyholder passed away?
trustee will receive the insurance proceed but has no authority to use the money and has to distribute the proceeds based on the policyowner's will. in certain scenario, trustee can be nominee/beneficiary as well (in this case since trustee is also the beneficiary, then trustee can use own portion of proceeds). If you can give exact scenario, will be better.

Hi, sorry it's me again, last question. Does all insurance package include nursing care charges too?I see all the brochures on insurance company website advertised the room and board package like 150,250,400 does these also cover nursing care?

Bcs I see in hospital website they say room rate is rm120 and there is also a nursing care charge of rm40. So if your insurance package is the rm150 package, does this mean your insurance won't you? Bcs the brochures does mention anything about nursing care.
*
hi RiriRuruRara, what is the medical card that you are holding now? if you know you can let us know so the answer can be more specific. i assume you are not referring to "home nursing care" since you are referring to room rate (during hospitalization stage). nursing care in hospital is mostly covered. btw do update us the medical card that you have now that will be better. wink.gif

what he meant was, along the way, also monitor his funds other than the education plan that he save along the way. do you mean yours is 3 years to maturity? and what is the name of the education plan that you have?

yes, my son is under etiqa SARJANA, maturity date jun 24,
My daughter under pb-ing one educate II. Mature by 2028. this one too early to anticipate the return
*
the way to keep yourself updated is to check what is the available amount in each plan currently. then double check again with the education goal you want to provide to your children (how many more years to send them to tertiary studies, is the amount saved/invested in line with your goal, if shortfall, then any plan to work out so you can meet this goal financially, etc.)

hi, any GE professional planner here?

my gf mom help her buy 2 policy but dont know what for. yes you rea it rite and now seems unable to trace.

any way to rectify this? only know the policy is under my gf name. what i need is the policy coverage oni. the rest will come later
*
hi Ancient-XinG-, you can access your GE policy details here > Great Eastern e-Connect

If your gf has no account, can just key in her NRIC number and create an account. After having an acocunt, then can login to check policy details. Just make sure she is the policy owner will do. wink.gif
